Amityville II: The Possession
Although this is a total rip of the exorcist, I couldn’t help but enjoy it. Some scenes rip
off the exorcist so bad it’s a wonder they didn’t get sued. For example:
The scene where we see the words save me on Sonny’s arm just as we saw the words
help me on Regan’s chest.
The way certain parts of Sonny’s body pulsed and bulged just as regan's neck did.
The way the father pleads with the demon to take him just as father Kerris did.
I don’t really see the point of the incest story line. It seems as if it’s been put in just to
make it that little bit more shocking than it actually is. The effects were done rather well
esp the scene where Sonny’s head seems to peel away as the demon leaves him.
Nothing to special but a nice enjoyable film none the less.

Although I don't really like haunted house flicks I am thinking about catching up on the first two or three Amityville films anyway (I am a pretty open minded horror fan). If I like them I may continue on from there. Does anybody think these films are worth it? Also, have dvds been released of them? Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

The original Amityville Horror was a monster of a book, but made by cheapy AIP (American International Pictures) into a bad film.
However, Amityville II has some geniuinely frightening moments and some wild special effects. I think the scenes in the basement where the demonic forces lay in wait are truly chilling.
The incest plotline was weird and added nothing really to the overall story, and quite frankly, the scene between the brother and sister is handled rather poorly, amatuerish.
Rent II, but don't worry about the original.

Thanks angelinwhite. I will try to see if they have a dvd. Thing is I don't want to watch the sequel without seeing the original. I'll be sure to avoid Amityville Dollhouse as it just sounds plain ole terrible. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Actually, watching both together is indeed a really good idea. It's not the first movie is really THAT bad, but compared to the terrific story told in the book, they just didn't do much with the film.
Hope you enjoy both of them. Let me know what the dvd is like if it is already out.

The original is boring in my opinion but I have yet to see every minute of it, Possession on the other hand is quite entertaining even if silly and echo of Evil Dead in many many ways.
The camera and visual effects were good and the first half is well put together but the middle fourth is boring and full of crap I didn't care about concerning trial and boring shit that has a lot to remind me of the Exorcist and the characters at that point generate nothing to be interested about. All in all though, it is still a fun movie.
What was with the seducing of his sister though?

the only thing that really made Amityville 2 worth watching were the nice cinematography and effects, the gore looked nice and the scene with the flying table cloth looked kool. the rest of the film is just touching average, the acting isnt that great and the characters at times get annoying. there were also a couple of scenes that had me thinging "what the fuck?" such as the whole thing with the sister.
the first film was pretty good but its all down hill after it, starting with Amityville 2

Amytiville II: The Possesion is a very cool horror show. So what if it rips of the Exorcist? Its still very spooky and well made!
Fun ride with more special fx then the first one, wich was a little more subtle with the showing of the demons and evil spirits. Here they are more in your face.
Fun flick and that ending, with the priest exorcising the demon from Sonny was spectacular in my book.
This is the best Amytiville sequel. The one to watch.
Highly recommended.

I used to like this movie alot more before, but I still enjoy it. I recently picked up the Amityville horror collection and it is certainly better than 3, but not quite as good as the first. Well, the first hour of the movie is better than the first atleast, but the last half hour or so of it really bring it down. I mean, the part when Adamsky sees Patricias ghost at the Amityville house door was really creepy, but thats the only part in the last half hour that had any effect on me. The rest of it is pretty much an Exorcist ripoff, but atleast they ripped it off with good special effects. Back to the first hour of the film. It's great, there are some creepy/scary scenes and it has a feeling of impending doom. Plus the scene where Sonny gets possessed is cool.
Before I loved it enough to give it a 10, but now I say a 7/10. The first is an 8/10.

I LOVE the original Amityville - 9/10.
I find the remake to be lackluster, despite Ryan Reynold's attempts to make it better - 6/10.
The 2nd is mildly enjoyable for me, plays out really well, the ending just blows - 8/10
Dont even bother with the third... unless you like some stupid looking monster coming from some well in the basement - 4/10
And Dollhouse would be the final one I watched, and I actually thought it was very enjoyable and creepy for a good margin of the film - 7/10

The first was extremely boring.
II was entertaining and some of the posession scenes were decent and they had some good jump scenes.
III was okay, nothing spectacular.
The only other Amityville one I've seen is the possessed lamp movie and AVOID that one at all costs.

Yah, whats with that rubber demon monster thing. It looked ok here but in the third one it was pretty cheap.
