Cradle of Fear

This shot on video horror is how horror used to be and how it should always be. Although the
shot on video look is a little off putting its still good stuff.
The gore is at times a little fake looking but it is done rather well. The acting was at times poor
and there is loads of unnecessary swearing that makes it all sound a little dumb.
Emily Booth gets naked and that gives this film an extra mark in my book.
The film actually is 4 or 5 smaller stories all cleverly woven into one bigger story.
The main bad thing about the film is the poor CGI. Especially in the out of control car scene. It’s
actually a bit laughable but I guess there wasn’t a big budget so it’s forgivable.
Its good to see Alex Chandon getting a little success with this film because he deserves it. One
of the quotes on the box cover says he is the future of horror and I totally agree.

8/10

How i love Horror Anthologies! No matter how well the Characters are nurtured throughout the running time - THERE WILL BE NO SEQUEL!!!! So theyd better watch out... Sorry personal preference, but i always prefer teh sucker punch at the end of a movie when the main characters get iced, so with a set of Anthology stories man im set for a winner...

Well, first off the bat, hats off to Mr Chandon for not giving a flying f@ck about getting this past the censors Uncut (Which strangely enough, he did?). One of the things that has killed the Gore flick is the fact that they are out to make money , so getting a marketable certificate will prolly become paramout... HOWEVER, this boy dont give a f@ck!! Before the credits are rolling we are privvy to a bevvy of Sanguinal spray when the Ever talented Mr Filth (Lead Singer of UK Black Metal band Cradle of Filth) tears the throat out of one chump and crushes the head of his accomplice... Unfortunately, despite good intentions, one of the movies small flaws is revealed - ideas surpass the budgets limitations... Unforunately some of the FX do look pretty fake, which admitttedly is a little offputting in places, especially, as astutely pointed out by Jewbo thar, in the CGI car scene. Still, we get gore and plenty of it! So ill stop my bitchin!

Anyhoos, to story - Ed Kemper, general all round scumbag, while rotting in his cell, sends a sort of Demonic Cultist Hitman, Dani Filth (in a strangely enough non speaking role - Metal fans'll understand) to do his bidding, extracting revenge on the families of those who sent him to a lifetime of incarceration... Which opens the door for 4 stories. The first sees a young lady, the utterly charming Emily Bouffante, picked up in a club and subjected to a night of passion, with some pretty severe results... A pair of would be burglars, try to take advantage of a seemingly empty house, where a large sum of money is reputedly hidden... A wealthy amputee goes to extreme measures to ensure he gets to the top of the queue for a transplant, with you guessed it - disastrous consequences... and a computer programmer with an unhealty interest in the sicker side of the internet gets drawn further into the Mysterious "Sick room"... With the Detective responsible for Kempers ultimate capture, piecing together the recent string of deaths - the finger points towards Kemper and an ultimately more sinster force... ooooohhhh...

Well, the stories, despite the minimal amount of screen time, do seem to drag from time to time, especially in the Amputee section. But its pretty fortunate in that its never that far from the next splash of sauce, or flash o' bristols to brighten up the proceedings. Admittedly some of the stories do seem rehashes of other source material - Again, the amputee section springs to mind, with the Robber section seeming very Creepshowy, but again, its different enough to not be an issue, and Hell, its not as if theres a doubt as to how theyre gonna end up now?

One final note tho, I have heard some bitchin about the Internet story somewhere? Im gonna go down on record and say thats me personal fave... Again, u knew where it was going (sorry if u didnt) but i thought it was such a wicked build up... probably the most rounded of the stories, as in Justifying morally, the outcome. True the other characters were all scumbags (Apart from Ms Bouffante), but the story was perfectly teased and nurtured in its running time... Sorry just my opinion, hope it made sense and you wont join the stories detractors...

Overall, id say well worth 2 hours of your time, and if you cant spare it in one sitting, itll easily do over 2 sittings without pissing in your tea. By no means is it perfect (then is any movie?) in fact it does have numerous flaws, but at the end of the day, theres nothing to really turn you against it, infact the attractions are far more plentiful...
Cradle of Fear to me, is like a 3 legged dog. For all its faults, it tries to be the best it can and ya gotta love it for it!!!

Hats off to Mr Chandon, you should all buy this dvd or video infact to make a point to the powers that be, Give Alex Chandon some big money!!! RAAAAHHHH!!!!

Oh and Emily Bouffantes Bristols... sweet.... ;)

Oh yeah its shot on video... like you care?!

Sorry to Edit message, but the Dude in the last episode? Is he Bruce Dickinson or what?!?!?!

I agree totally guys! I think that this movie is great. I just picked it up in Ohio at Cinema Wasteland Convention, and i was totally into this movie. I thought that the effects were decent (aside from teh car crash), every woman in it was hotter than hell, and the ending ruled. I think that the story about the chick fucking Filth was the best one, I had no idea how it was going to end. I also dug the robbers story, hell, I dug all of them to be honest! Check it out if you can find it!
