MINOR SPOILERS

Days before the release, my friends were blindsided with my unremitting glorification of Jason Voorhees. I was fucking pumped to see this flick, and they were going to know about it. However, none of my peers shared this enthusiasm. Almost all of them stated that the F13 series had run itself into the ground and that the tenth installment looked ridiculous. And…they were correct! Of course it looked ridiculous. It’s about a hockey-masked nutjob stalking people in outer space! Were they seriously expecting a challenging, thought-provoking time at the cinema? Seemingly, the public just isn’t interested in having fun with b-movies anymore. Jason X has been the recipient of some harsh criticism, but I enjoyed it for what it was -- MINDLESS ENTERTAINMENT. It didn't set out to excel in all areas of filmmaking. It's harmless cheese, and frankly, that’s all it needed to be.

It’s apparent that one of Jim Isaac’s main objectives was to devise gory, creative death sequences for gorehounds to sink their fangs into. He certainly didn’t let us down! As the cute blonde’s iced visage shattered into several pieces, I nearly had an orgasm! The rest of the bloodletting isn’t quite as memorable, but Mr. Voorhees still slices and dices like a pro. I hope that Ghostface and The Fisherman were taking comprehensive notes. The pace is brisk and energetic. My eyelids never grew heavy. I should note that that the opening credits were some of the most inventive and stylish that I’ve seen in recent memory. Also on the eye candy front, the females in this flick are HOT! Incredible casting job! Even if some of these lovely ladies aren’t the most superlative actresses in the world, their beauty compensates for it.

Now to the unfortunate downfalls that plague this film. As many recognized, some of the dialogue was beyond unrealistic and Kay-Em, who delivers the most abhorrent lines in the film, did give me a pounding headache. I’ll never be able to grasp how certain characters in certain films have the ability to spew forth clever, witty one-liners while stuck in undeniably perilous scenarios. Also, the cast is chalked full of nameless, forgettable, and interchangeable characters that I couldn’t tell apart from one another. Most of them are one-dimensional, and I spotted a couple of Vasquez clones running around. There were moments when I felt as though I was watching a Sci-fi Channel original, which is NOT a good feeling.

It’s easy to pardon such flaws, though. This is a popcorn movie above all else. A surplus of plot holes, underdeveloped characters, bad dialogue, and outlandish storylines is to be expected. Just unplug your think tank and indulge in this enjoyable slasher. The holographic “crystal lake” scene is worth the price of admission alone. “We love premarital sex!”

My rating-3.5/5

I enjoyed "Jason X" about the same (**1/2 out of ****). I wasn't expecting a "classic." I was expecting Jason Voorhees in space with more opportunities for creative murders (in an escapism sorta way) and that's exactly what I got! Like every "Friday The 13th" film, this was spit on by critics (and especially nonfans), but I really enjoyed it. Not so much as "Friday The 13th"'s parts 3 and 6 (both with *** out of ****), though, which are the best of the series, I think.

Jason x was a real fun go for the gore slasher film. I thought it was the most creative and inventive installment of the friday series that had come out in a long time. Of course The dialogue in some areas were cheesy, but who gives a fuck, it was a fun movie and it was great to see one of my favorite horror villains of all time back on the big screen in action. With its sci-fi action, our favorite hockey masked, machetie wielding monster, and extremely hot chicks; JASON X is destined to be a cult classic.

I dont get WHY do you hate Jason X so much...NO movie deserves a 0.1/10, sorry...and less this movie. You don't look like a Jason loving man and if you watch a Friday the 13th movie expecting to see a good movie (like, I dunno...Cube) you will get dissapointed and THIS is the response. You surely can't tell me Jason X wasn't a BLAST to watch! This flick is fun, fun, fun times.

I agree with you Jason x part 2. This movie was a blast. As I said earlier. It's a real fun go for the gore slasher film.

I don't understand why the friday series catches so much negative critizism from some horror fans. But yet they praise the halloween series so much. Personally I find the friday series more interesting than halloween. I mean how many times can micheal myers go to his fucking house. At least with the newer installments of the friday series, they're trying to do something different. But yet it still gets trashed by some fans.

Anyway this just my opinion.

Jason X Part 2, I utterly despise this movie which I'm sure you know. But it's not because "Oh he just likes Michael better yadda yadda." No, I'm a HUGE fan of the first 9. But Ugh, this movie just crapped all over the series.

-Ignores how he gets out of hell
-no-name characters (granted most slashers have these, but did you root for ANYBODY?)
-character's lines
-the way to outta place attempted humors "What did you find a box of DVDs?" It's just STUPID!
-Rowan tries to be a scream queen but falls short
-Bad music, ugh ugh ugh, when Uber-Jason comes to the screen you're expeceting something BIG! No this monotonous music...do do...........do.........do DO do....

There's a few. And it's so hard to watch, looks like a Sci-Fi Channel Saturday Night Movie.

No, it doesn't. Jason X was intentionally set in the future so that it wouldn't interfere with the events of Freddy vs. Jason, which will deal with the whole Hell ordeal.

Ok, maybe...but really...didn't you LAUGH a little with:
-The "He's screwed" line...?
-The "This sucks on so many levels" line...?
-To see another dumb man offering things to Jason so he doesn't get killed...?
-Janneesa...?
-All the TNA and GORE...? (Specially here, I FELT as watching another Friday movie.
-How they make our 'future' (Hockey is outlawed in 2045, DVDs...etc...)
-The super laughfest scene with the Virtual campers (Do you want a beer?? Do you want to smoke some pot?? Or we can have premarital sex! We LOOOOVE pre-marital sex!!)...Jason's reaction...LMAO!!

I am still laughing right now!

This is the first Jason film that I've ever seen in a theatre. And boy was I glad to! I found it to be very entertaining and enjoyed that Crystal Lake scene. After Jason killed this one girl, there was this black guy in the theatre who replied "My Nigga!" This is one DVD that I'll ask for as a Christmas present. BTW, if you like the film, you should get the Uber-Jason figure from McFarlane Toys.

Film: 3/4
Action figure: 4/4

The virtual scene was okay, but I think the campers were just stupid. It's like "You made fun of the series enough, stop now".

Anyways, I got the McFarlane figure, since I collect the Movie Maniacs, I think he's cool, just to much skin is shown.

Jason X- 9/10

Rated R for all kinds of Brutal Violence and Extreme Gore, Nudity and Language.

This entry wasn't trying to be serious or scary. It was poking fun at the series itself and the amount of sequels being turned out over the years. Jason in space was the logical next step for a cheesy sequal. After loving Jason Goes To Hell and considering it to be highly underrated, I was looking forward to this one. I was not dissapointed in the least. It had everything I expected and more. I was worried that the gore would be toned down or Jason not being as cool but I was not let down.

Gore- 10/10
Jason is blown into chunks at one point, one guy crawls away in half, face frozen then smashed off, impaling on giant screw, many more impalings including a machete through the gut then it's pulled out the other way, arm cut off, ripped up body parts and decapitated heads, someone's sucked through a tiny metal grating and more!

Nudity- 4/10
Lisa Ryder sort of shows her breasts but the main scene of nudity comes from two campers. Not much but still enough for a Friday the 13th entry.

I gave this movie like a 1 or 2 out of 10 somewhere before, but tonight, just minutes ago, a friend of mine just told me the best anti-Jason X arguement that I've ever heard.

" it was like made by people who had never seen a Friday the 13th movie but were aware of the stereotypes of those movies and set out to make a script with nothing but those stereotypes and cliches and also the fact that it was in space."

A lot of what he said was implied, and can be hashed out into distinct categories, but when I read that, shit I was impressed! lol

First off pardon my rant.

I finally forced my self to watch and it is easily the worst movie ever created. I had to restrain myself from clawing out my own eyes.

I was hoping for something like reign of fire but got a pathetic excuse for "a blast" of movie. If you consider blast to mean anything other than anything that could be described as good. IN the words of a wise sage "it crawled into my head and fucked my brain"

Now you have to understand I didn't exactly look for anyhting great in this. I was hoping it was going to be as good as like reign of fire... but it ended up being worse than the faculty and thats hard to do.

on a scale of 1 to 10 its gets -34.

And that only because the "he's screwed" line was so pathetic in its attempt to be witty you had to laugh. But I wasn't laughing with them I was laughing at them. And not in a good way.

Its about as cool as and ranks up their with the American Godzilla movie.

It wasn't scary, it wasn't innovative it didn't add anyhting to the series. IT was a shallow attempt at being a funny horror movie and failed miserably.

Were they even trying?

There was no "gore". I wanted to see some cool futuristic gore
but the closest to that was when the girl face was frozen and shattered her face.

There is absolutly nothing redeeming about this movie. It is not a blast. It is not good. It is not funny. IF you thought any of the above you should have to wear a huge red x on your face so that we know who your are.

Anyone associated with this movie should be rounded up and executed.

The Jason stalks the grunts scene had sweet poteintal but was just jason stabs this guy and this guy shoots him but then is stabbed and or impaled on object.

It set out to be "likeable because its stupid" but that attempt was so forced if you didn't see through it you must be one of those people who actually fail for internet popup ads.

When I go into these moives, the movie should take itsself seriously so that then I can laugh at them, for being so serious about something so stupid. BUt it seemed these people tried to point out that they were to smart to even attempt to take something as stupid at this seriously and thus make themselves cool.

YES WE KNOW JASON IS SILLY AT SOME LEVEL AND THEN BRINGING HIM INTO SPACE IS EVEN STUPIDIER BUT WHEN YOU CAN'T TAKE SERIOUSLY AND YOU'RE IN IT AND DIRECTING DON'T MAKE IT.

It seemed that who ever made this movie had never seen friday the 13th film and/or didn't give a rats ass about them.

And if you're in the future shouldn't you actually be futuristic? Like wouldn't they have motion detectors? Or body armor? Oooo its the future they have ummm guns! Not unlike guns in any other time period. OOOOo but they made funny jokes like a box of DVDS OOOOOO. Its the FUTURE! AND DVDS ARE UBER MODERN NOW BUT NOT IN THE FUTURE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Someone kill me, then kill whoever wrote that joke. Thats the kind of joke you shold be drawn and quatered for writing in a major motion picture.

Take this movie and this cliches and horrible attempt to poke fun at the series and/or genre and shove it.

Beside all that it was a BLAST

This is the sort of movie firebombing was invented for.

That was quite a hell of a rant. Worst movie ever made?? If you say so. I thought it was entertaining for what is was, but excuse me... a popup advertising bestiality porn for only $500 just appeared on my screen so I must leave immediately and spend a few hours tending to that ;)

So a director should never make a tongue-in-cheek film? Every b-movie should take itself seriously? In my opinion, that's what kills a b-movie. Jason X has a storyline that no director, no matter how talented, could present as legitimate. I would rather the film poke fun at itself than to have it take itself too seriously.

This movie is a true Horror/Comedy movie, unlike that dreadful boring Jack Frost.

MAJOR SPOILER WARNINGS!!!!!:
Gore/Violence- Man we get loads. We get a head dipped in acid and smashed on a table, a guy spinning of a twisting medal thingy, lots of stabbings and slit throghts.
Yeah, it's a gore fest with Jason Voorhees.

P.S.- Jason doesn't become Ubber Jason until about an hour into the film.

Comedy- Hell yeah, we get two girls in sleeping bags getting banged together by Jason. We get a robot wanting metal tits but the nipples keep falling off. It is histarical.

Man, when my mate rented this film out (just yesterday in fact) I didn't know what to expect, I haven't seen any Friday film but I kinda knew the Jason character (doesn't everyone?) but man I loved this. The effects weren't anything to look at (the virtual sim scene wasn't all that good, the speical effects on that scene was bad bad bad but it was fun.....why??...it doesn't make sense). The whole film was cool, the gore factor was over the scale. The grunts getting picked off by Mr. Voorhees was cool as well.
I didn't really like any of the characters in Jason X (except for Jason himself) Rowan was alrite I suppose but the one man who I rooted for all the way was the big bad grunt himself....Brodski. The man was cool and with his an Jason's final confrontation near the end sent goosebumps up my sleeves. Man, the powerhouses staring each other down was damn intense. I loved this film and the virtual campers scene was stupid as hell, but what Jason did to them was funny as....well.....anything. I didn't laugh that hard watching a film before.

Great times, fun all the way........7/10

Jason X- 9/10

Genre- Horror

Rating: US Unrated/ Can 18A for Tons of Gore, Nudity and more Gore.

Director- James Isaac

Cast:
Kane Hodder .... Jason Voorhees/Uber-Jason
Lexa Doig .... Rowan
Chuck Campbell (I) .... Tsunaron
Lisa Ryder .... Kay-Em 14
Peter Mensah .... Sgt. Brodski
Melyssa Ade .... Janessa
Derwin Jordan .... Waylander
Jonathan Potts .... Professor Lowe
Dov Tiefenbach .... Azrael
David Cronenberg .... Dr. Wimmer

Plot:
Jason's in space killing people.

My Thoughts:
One fuck of a ride! I loved every minute of this trash! I love how it pokes fun at the Friday series constantly. I can understand why certain people would hate this movie but they're obviously not hardcore Jason fans! This movie was awesome! I would give it 10/10 but i'm afraid it's not on par with films like The Godfather or Requiem for a Dream, lol.

Acting- 5/10
Not very good at all but cheesy enough to be fun.

Directing- 8/10
Fast pace, action galore, great death set ups.

Gore- 10/10
Along with Jason Goes To Hell this is the goriest of the Friday films. Man cut in half, arm cut off, impaling with machete, slit throat, chopped up bodies and severed heads, leg, arm and head blown up, girl sucked through grating, a guy gets screwed (normally a good thing for the guy but not here), face frozen and bashed off and more!

Nudity- 5/10
Two campers show breasts and we get lots of almost shots.

Easily one of my favourite movies of 2002. I loved almost every aspect of it. At first I hated the fact that they made uber-jason. But then I actualy watched the movie and saw that he was only uber-jason for a little bit of the time. But now,I kinda wish Jason would'ev killed some more people as uber-jason as they could'ev made some really narly kills. I loved this movie as I am an hardcore Jason fan and will always be at his side and will always be in the movie line even if it is for "Jason in the hood"

I give Jason X a perfect 10/10

JASON X

Well, I hate to upset a bunch of fans who look so happy with this film...but I didn't really like it. I didn't HATE it it just was a big disappointment, because I was really anticipating it. When it saw JASON X had finally come out on DVD for rental my heart almost leapt a mile and when I was watching it it was like FUCK! What a disappointment.

JASON X - THE GOOD

*The happy campers scene. Absolutely hilarious, and worth the price of rental alone.
*The first killing on the spaceship with the girls frozen face. Very freaky.
*I respected and appreciated them trying to bring something new to the slasher genre.
*The space ideas were really good...like those worm things I thought were very clever.
*Uber-Jasons red eyes. Freak me out why doncha.

JASON X - THE BAD

*The lack of dramatic music. Uber-Jason comes in...where's the big dramatic musical entrance? Nowhere to be seen! Grr....
*Lack of gore apart from the first kill.
*No suspense.
*Pretty boring for the most part.
*Acting - very weak.
*Kay-Em's kick-ass sequence felt out-of-place with the movie.
*OK, it's pretty obvious Jason can't be killed by a gun so why shoot him??

I just have to mention once again how much I LOOOOOOOVED The happpy campers scene. But the rest of it was all just a bore really.

Grade: 5/10 or C

Lack of GORE!?!?!?!?!?

You must have seen the wrong movie. This movie is a gore fest, impalings galore, the screw scene, slit throat, leg blown off, hole blown through stomach, head explosion, cut in half body, frozen bashed head, scooped out eye, chopped up corpses, severed heads, etc.

It should be said: People shot at Jason either, because they didn't know he was indistructable or out of desperation just to get way. First off, the grunts didn't know he Jason was so indistructable. They just thought he was just an intruder on the ship, so they went off to take him out...The instructor and the students may have fired at Jason, but out of desperation, as they've discovered that he's hard to beat, as a way of getting a way or something. You can't forget (Warning: Spoiler alert!!): Jason isn't totally industractable. Kay-Em. in Terminator mode shot at Jason with some really big guns and blew him to bits!

I don’t know how people consider this a horror movie. This was a boring Sci-Fi/Thriller. The movie is a huge reminiscence of Alien. The basic plot of the story is: A cyborg is turned back alive, in the future, from psychic readings when a couple are having premarital sex. Talk about being in the far right conservative platform, geez. He then goes on a killing spree with little gore shots and limited slashing scenes. This movie had absolutely no suspense and no scares. This movie had very cheesy sci-fi dialogue, corny acting, cheesy one-liners, and a cheesy green monster. Halloween Resurrection is MUCH better than Jason X. HR is a true horror classic compared to this joke.
The death scenes were boring and un-original. The part when the guy was cut in half was way to fake looking; used too much computer graphics in general.
How about that cyber-girl? Jason got his BUTT kicked by her! What a humiliation, he needed to change into a bigger cyborg to chop off her head. He couldn’t do that before? Imo, this movie destroyed the whole franchise of the Friday the 13th series. I haven’t seen the other Jason movies in over 10 years (planning on getting them on DVD), but I know for sure this is the worst of the series. They should have ended with part 9 when he went to hell.

Rating 2/10 Note: PLEASE, PLEASE GO BACK TO THE WOODS ON JASON XI! CURRENT YEAR THIS TIME! FORGET THE FUTURE AND FORGET SPACE!

Depending how you like Friday the 13th as a whole series, you will either like or dislike Jason X.

I myself found Jason X to be a fun ride and I was just able to turn off and enjoy a film that didn't care about rationale and was more focused upon making a film that could make this slasher fun again. (He was nearly a decade rusty)

I found substantial gore, nudity, entertainment, cheese, and badness that blended nearly perfect to create an intentionally wonderful film.

Jason doesn't come back to life on the ship, because of "senses" that two horny teens are having pre-marital sex! Jeez! Since when has he ever depended on the sex lives of horny teens to come back to life? He was going to come back to life anyway, considering his "regeneration abilities" that this entry informs us of. It was just coincidence in timing. I think anyone who believes in this "sex brings Jason back to life crap" read too much into "Jason X."

Being a Jason fan I had to see it and I was not disapointed.

This movie was...dissapointing. I am a huge Friday fan and have enjoyed all the Fridays except for part 9 and 10. The robot woman really really really got on my nerves.

I know with Fridays they're supposed to be senseless mind-numbing entertainment and fun with lack of plot, but come on. There is cheesy and then there is lame. ;)

I didn't hate this one as much as 9 but I'm not one for change. Bring Jason out of space and back to Crystal Lake, and take off the new mask!

"Jason X" is just so much fun and clever in its own way, I'm surprised that "Friday" fans made such a big deal about it being set in space and winking at the series at the same time. Yeah, it was set in space, but the "plot" hardly changed, and certainly not to the point that it was selling Jason out. And While it took itself a little bit less seriously, it was still the basic fun of the rest of the series. This movie reeks in creativity as Jason wrecks havoc onboard the spaceship, "Grendel," Voorhees-style! I loved his fight with the cyborg.

I don't think it was that bad. I liked it better than I thought I would. It does not compare to the others. But it was a fun movie to watch. 7/10

Plot:
In the year 2455, a group of students embark to Earth 1 as a fieldtrip, they dig up and find a zouple of cryogenically frozen bodies, one is a girl named Rowan and the other is the man, the legend...Jason Voorhees; they bring both to the ship, reanimation starts and fun, gore and laughs ensue. Yeah! Let the bodies hit the floor!!

What I Thought:
Jeepers! Did I expect this entry for like forever! I must admit that the first time I saw the trailer with and Uber Jason in it, I crynged my arse off, I thought to myself, how the fuck can they do this to the legend Jason Voorhees? Then, I looked back and saw what the premise is: Jason set in space...in the future! you can't expect intelligence from it and so...I didn't expect much. Upon actually watching the movie, I realized with satisfaction that THIS WAS A FUCKING BLAST TO WATCH!!
Yeah, I think in all my life, I had never had so much fun in the theater watching a movie, everytime someone died, there was cheering, screaming and laughing, as soon as I walked out, I realized what thim movie really was made for: They made a movie with the simple purpose of amusing the fuck out of any audience today, they also added a new look for Jason headed to the new Matrix generation (with badass piercing red eyes), I ejoyed the underuse of Jason's new looks, they used him well for the short screen time he had.The humor was also another imortant element for the movie, it has all kinds of circcumstancial 'dark red' humor that relies mostly in the unbelievable lines characters mention (there's a "He's screwed" line that had me in the floor). Also, there is a scene where they actually send Jason to a hologram depiction of Camp Crystal Lake in the 80's, that one of the funnest scenes I have seen in a horror movie ("We love premarital sex!" lmao).

The settings are all right, they looked to Disney's 'Space Mountain' for me but they were fine, the effects come and go from AWESOME (the reality shifting bit) to very crude (chopped off arm) and simply bad. The movie visually looked goof...mostly. The soundtrack had the most fitting use of Drowning Pool's 'Bodies' (great tune) and some more heavy rock songs. The director was the key, he gave what some of the fans bargained for (Jason, gore, TnA and fun) but killed some of the expectatives, as a lot of pople said...and I quote "You made fun of the series enough, stop now" and I really don't beg to differ, he has a good point. The movie was at times too jokey for some people but not for me, I was just looking for mindless and unfiltered fun. I didn't get less.

On a bad note, the characters were tad underdeveloped (Jannessa was the real shite, I loved her) and I was only rooting for the Jay man to hack 'em up. Yeah, it's a generic slasher and most people won't mind the least but the Friday series have been really graced with cool character sets (parts 3, 6 and 7 come to mind) and they could have tried a little. The relationship between Kay-Em and Tsunaron was also very off, although they are both cool characters, they relationship sucks a lot. The dialogue can also be picked on like dogshit, it wasn't intended to be smart at all but it was really, really off at times, note that I didn't mind much about it.

Gore:
Yeah, we see some of that! A badass frozen and bashed head, a lot of imaplings, a man sliced in half at the waist, beheadings, a man totally butchered with machete and much more. Could easily be one of the goriest entries.

Overall Rating:
I'll make that a "8-9/10", the movie was a fucking blast, plain and simple, good old fashioned unfiltered FUN. That's all I'll say.

TIDBIT: The character 'Adrienne' was named after the woman
who made it through the first Friday the 13th: Adrienne King.

Once again Requiem-for-a-Dream, same wave lenght!

I think I already did a review of Jason X, but after watching it multiple times now, I have grown to like it.

Plot: Jason gets totally pissed off, killing some military guys, and then being frozen with some bade named Rowan. In the future, about 400 years after, a group of horny teens find them and bring them to their bad designed space ship. Of course, some dumbasses get hacked up, and it is up to Rowan to stop Jason 'Fucking' Voorhees. And guess what? JASON IS IN SPACE!!!!

Stupid Thoughts: Being the first Jason set in a (really crappy) space setting, Jason X basically pissed on the Friday the 13th franchise for some people. But after a lot of viewings, you'll grow to like it.

I'd like to remind you before you watch the movie: Jason isn't very scary in this one. You know that he is going to hack up over half the people you see, and you probably half guessed the ways he is going to do it.

Reminder No. 2: The horny teenagers have now turned into American Pie-ish horny teenagers. Always cracking jokes at the dumbest possible time, trying to screw robots, and then trying to screw their professor. Even though some of these lines really turn this part in the series of more of a 'less horror' kind of thing, if you don't mind it, it wouldn't bother you.

Ok, now for the false advertising. Like in 'Jason Takes Manhattan', Jason doesn't even get his upgrade until the last 20 minutes of the freaking movie. I'll admit it, I found this kind of cheesy to have my pal Jason become some big ass-steroid pumped-slasher, and since he doesn't actually KILL anyone (himself physically) it feels like a waste. All though he is like the energizer bunny in this one: he keeps going and going.

Ahh.....now for the thing we most love about Friday the 13th! Characters! You get the brainy white guy, the cute 'slutty' girl, the touch macho black guy, the herione, the other black guy, and the ugly ass hell android. While I only liked the 'main' teens (Janessa, Tsunaron, and Waylander), the 'never die' touch guy, and the herione, I didn't need the fucking android. They even try to make a love story with Tsunaron and Kay-Em, which make for a completely dumbass sidestory. Why didn't Tsunaron hit on Janessa? Come on you fucking pussy! Grow some balls and stop screwing a metal can! To top it off, Kay-Em also gets an upgrade, blowing Jason apart limb from limb. It is not cool to see Jason Voorhees get shot up by some dominatrix wannabe.

GORE: Its not the bloodiest entry by all means, it just has the highest kill count. You get a frozen, then smashed, head, a slit throat, a couple of knifes through the stomach, a head bashing, a pretty couple impaling, a back break, a neck break, a girl sucked through a grating, a guy torn apart, and a electrocution. There are only a couple of deaths that are not caused by Jason.

TITTIES AND ASS: You get fake tits on Kay-Em, and two computer sluts take their tops off while offering Jason beer, weed, and premartial sex.

CHARACTER STUPIDTY: Believe it or not, only one real dumbass out of the bunch. That title belongs to Ms. Dumbass Who Freaked Out. God....you blew yourself up you stupid slut.

FIRST SCORE: 4/10

SECOND SCORE: 7/10

I saw this last night at home on Starz network.

I haven't kept up with the 9 other Friday/Jason films since 4: The Final Chapter. They should have ended it there. Jason Goes to Hell was actually a surprisingly fun ride, but that was the only one since 4 I had seen.

Here's the problem for me. After 5 or 6 films, there is absolutely no way they can keep coming up with genuine kills and ways to surprise the audience. You know and expect every move in the ones after the first four or five.

To continue on is to beat a long, dead horse. Jason X was predictable, boring, and so outlandish that I was laughing at the end when ***SPOILER****he magically gets rejuvanated and brought back after getting his head completely blown off, his arms and legs shot off....it was just dumb I thought.

Here's a question for you Jason X fans: **SPOILER** When J falls to earth at the end, and those kids look up and say "Ooo, look at the shooting star." I thought earth was completely dead and uninhabitable???????????????? Where did this little change of plot occur?? Why is earth back to the way it used to be at the end????????????

Duke Nukem
06-24-2003, 12:54 PM
That was Earth 2. Remember where Jason is found by that exploration team? That was our Earth, then dead and all in 2455. The people on earth moved to another planet, so thus, where Jason landed and where the two teens were was Earth 2.

My thoughts about this movie changed with each viewing. I hated it when I first saw it at the theatre, I kinda liked it on DVD. Then they gave me the movie as a present, I liked it and then a few months ago I watched again, I HATED it.

When it got a release here in Argentina(I saw the movie Fenruary 17 of 2002) I was very excited. Really excited. I've always loved Jason and Friday the 13th series. I know they are chessy and repetitive, but they were lots of fun. I thougt the same thing would happen with this movie. But I was wrong.

Jason X is very very very stupid. I mean very very stupid. First of all the script sucks. I can't belive people actually took so long to write this shit!. If you're making a sequel to such a succesfull series, make a good one. They didn't explain how he got out of Hell(I know I know, It's explained in Freddy vs. Jason, but not everybody knows that)
About the plot, it's obviously a rip-off of Aliens. I mean, Come on! It has the same plot!. Then the cinematography, which wasnt bad but It wasnt great either.
The music, what a bad score!!! It was so lame. I expected some cool music when Jason showed up. The visual effects were so so. Nothing great.

ACTING: Bad bad bad bad bad....bad. Everyone sucks here. The only character I liked a bit was Janessa. And she sucked anyway.
4/10

GORE: Pretty good. But not as much as I expected. I hoped to see more gore. I know this movie has lots, but they weren't cool IMO.
7/10

T&A: Some tit shots.
7/10

SCORE: Read the beginning of the review.
0/10

I think this movie really deserved a 4/10 or D+. A big disappointment. And I'm afraid to say that I enjoyed Halloween: Resurrection (6/10 or C+) more than this, even though I like Jason better.

I found the film too teenage orientated for my liking. Come on how many slasher films are good when they are Rated 15 (or whatever the equivalent is in America). Many of the killing's more brutal moments were not actually shown but implied and none of them were that original; smack someone's head against something, stab someone with something, smack someone's head against something, ad nauseum...

I hate teenage flick banter immensely and this seemed to be a film aimed at the "Buffy Generation", who prefer their characters to make shite japes throughout the entire movie.

And what did the Uber-Jason actually do? Smash down some doors.

Fucking awesome huh?

1/10 (for the sleeping bag scene).

void, the equivilent in america must be R because thats the rating in the US. they may have edited the version who have seen depending on what country your from because i thought jason x was gory and it had the biggest body count of all the films so far. the sleeping bag bit (a reference to part 7) was hilarious to a hard core fan like me. i liked this film quite a lot, actually. one of the best in the series. 9/10

This movie has reviews coming from polar opposites...from -34 to 10. I think this is a perfect popcorn movie becuase it was simply entertaining. Not all movies have to change my outlook on life, I love movies that are just enjoyable. I did have problems with some of the dialogue (a few lines just bother me.."this sucks on so many levels..."it'll take more to put this old dog down...that'll do it")WHen a character is dying, he shouldn't make fun of his/her own death, perhaps after cheating death, then hahaha it funny. Anyways, obviously I enjoyed this flick (username) it's my third favorite in the series behind 6 and 3. I give it a 9/10

I give jason X an honest 7.5/10. I went to the movie expecting three things....

Mindless gore.....Delivered
Nudity for no reason.....50% delivered
being entertained without having to think....delivered

Take this movie for the mindless escapism that it is set soley on entertainment. C'mon how many times can he go back to crystal lake, and frankly Jason goes to hell was by far the worst, I'll admit that the plot development to the series was mediocrely needed but It tookl me three attempts to stay awake through it. All I kept thinking was "whens the bastard gonna show up and start knifing the slutty chicks"

I to enjoyed Jason X, I just bought it on dvd, and have wathced it twice already. This is a cool fun movie. I wish that they would make a Jason X 2, and have the whole movie with the upgrated Jason. Thats the only thing I didn't like about Jason X, he wasn't the upgrated Jason very long. So I think they should make a whole movie about the upgrated jason.

I thought it was alright. I liked the idea of him being discovered in the future and all that, and the scenes with the supersoldiers hunting him. I thought it was better than a lot of the other ones.
Would have been cool if they discovered some tiny planetary outpost, and all the frozen bodies were hacked up except Jay's. Then later they realize, after they pick him up, that he butchered every single person on the planet/ or outpost or whatever. IMO I should be the scriptwriter for most movies.

Some directors get Jason films and films like it and some don't. James Isaac gets why people like Jason and Ronny Yu doesn't.

Jason X isn't scary (Jason stopped being scary a LONG time ago). It is similar to a horror comic; fun, and gory. It parodies slashers without it refencing itself and it knows the teens are not the heroes the audience is rooting for. They are made to be dumb and cliched and Isaac doesn't try and force us to care for them with the exception of the main star.

Some complain about putting Jason in space, but i think it just goes along with the comic, serial direction that these films are headed in. The reason why 8 and 9 didn't work (well 9 also didn't work because there was NO JASON) was because there was an attempt to build a lot of suspense. Isaac throws that out the window and said LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR.

my jason X review--

i liked this movie, wasnt the best in the series, wasnt the worst, i liekd it for the fact that jason just gets to do his thing, which is killing people left and right, i didnt like his look, cause he looked to human, but other than that, it was cool, i didnt like the space setting, i would have much prefferred it back at crystal lake, the characters were bland, i didnt care for them, i just wanted to see jason kick some ass which he did quite effectively

I hate the costums they wore, lord have mercy they were disqusting. On a whole i really dug this jason flick in fact i've watched the most out of all of them actually. every time i go oer my friends house we watch this puppy, and love every minute of it. I really dug the uber jason to, even though he looked nothing like the other jason i still knew he was the crazy pysco killer jason behind all that titanium or whatever that stuff was.

I really like this film - it is just so much fun!

It doesn't waste time trying to develop the disposable characters (who really cares about them, honestly?) it just gives us what we want, Jason doing what he does best! He slices through the cannon fodder with such familiar ease that I was laughing most of the way though.

I also love the way his mask looks in this film (Much better than in F vs J). The opening scene with him chained up and looking through the eyeholes of the hockey mask at that guard gave me shivers, it is so cool.

I love this film. It didn't take itself seriously, the deaths were inventive, the lead was hot, I dug the use of music mainly the pumped up version of the song from the end of friday 1, the camp crystal lake 1980 hologram scene was really funny as was the ending which I just see as a no mercy piss take of Alien resurrection. Much better than it had any right to be. 8/10

Sorry, but I'm not going to take my time to write a full review here. This film doesn't deserve one.

I honestly think this must be the worst film I have ever seen. This type of movie gives horror the bad names.... It's uber-stupid, has completely incompetent directing, and the horrible acting can't be justified in words. In all honesty, I had a splitting headache after watching this piece of trash. It hurt my head to watch such a putrid piece of crap. This is the kind of movie that left me thinking "How did this get greenlighted?!?!?!?!?"
This film gets a NEGATIVE score from me... negative 12 out of 10.

They should show this movie at film schools on how NOT to make a film.

Jason X, is the tenth film in the Friday The 13th series. It is set 400 years into the future where Jason, follows a crew of people onto a spaceship and is cryogenetically frozen. Hundreds of years later a new crew boards the ship and thaws Jason, out. This of course makes Jason, mad and he tries to kill the rest of the passengers on the spaceship. I'am a big Friday The 13th fan and I love all the Friday The 13th, films except for the ending of number five and fans of the series will probably agree with me on that one. I enjoyed this film but I prefer the original Friday The 13th, films better where Jason's victims are slaughtered at Camp Crystal Lake, instead of on the spaceship. When in the forrest of Camp Crystal Lake, it looks beautiful and it was just much more fun then all the technical stuff. Also in the old Friday The 13th, films the victims fight back at Jason, with their fists and whatever they can find but on this one they attack him with guns and weapons and I preferred it the other way. Also this film was heavily cut to get an R rating but I wish the studio would've gone with the NC-17 rating. Hopefully the scenes that were trimmed will appear in their entire length on this film's DVD. A fun film for Friday The 13th, fans but I sure do miss the atmosphere of Camp Crystal Lake, and the unlucky campers rather than a crew of spaceship scientists and young adults.

"Jason X" 2001

Directed by: James Isaac
Written by: Todd Farmer
Starring: Kane Hodder,

Tagline: Evil gets an upgrade.

Rating: 4/10

Plot: Stupid young people in the 25th century free Jason Voorhees from a cryogenic state. Instead of wreaking havoc around Crystal Lake (or Manhattan), Jason now goes on a killing spree on a spaceship.

Review: Ehhh. To be fair, the Friday series is not my favorite horror series. I find it derivative and often annoying. Later entries (8 and 9) went beyond stupid but I guess that far out you have to try and come up with a gimmick. I'll hand it to the filmmakers- they have a gimmick and take a big leap with this entry in the series. It at least makes more sense than Jason Goes to Manhattan.

The film for me is okay until Jason gets a makeover. I'm fine with the setting. The old TV adage is when the series goes to X, Y, or Z it's time to put it down. The same can be said for films- Jason needed to be put to bed before 8. At this point they did the best they could with a tired series. Jason in space works on most levels. Basically we get a film with overt "Alien" vibes featuring our 'roided out goalie with a machete.

The supporting cast in this film is highly reminiscient of past Friday entries- nameless, annoying as hell (the stoner could not die soon enough), and attractive. It seemed pretty ridiculous that the ship's staff members were prancing around half-clothed but it's a series staple. The android character also just rubbed me the wrong way. Yes they had an android in "Alien". Yes an android vs. Jason fight seems fun. When your android does cartwheels, yells "Yeehaw!" (or some other wretched drivel), and is more emotional than the lead there are major problems.

Jason himself looks good for 3/4 of the movie. He's big, ruthless, and dirty. At one point when Jason gets "upgraded" is a turning point for me in the film. He looks ridiculous afterwards and it took all I could do to not turn off the dvd player. It's not as bad as teleporting Jason (well maybe it is) or demon alien worm "Hidden" Jason but it doesn't work.

The kills are fairly standard yet fun. Props have to go out for the frozen head and Jason's first "death". The Crystal Lake simulation felt hollow to me. The sleeping bag deaths were a nice nod to the past but they should have just divorced themselves from the setting if they were putting this in outer space.

If they dropped robo-Jason and the wise-cracking android this could have been one of the better Friday films (does this tell you my general feeling on the series?). Instead it's flashier yet still missable.

I am so amped up for this movie to become available. Jason is always classic and this movie is bound to be a bloody fun mess like the rest of the series. The only other movie that I am looking forward to is Piranha 3D directed by Aja. He did Hills Have Eyes and his work is always right on point and scary as hell. I am such a horror fanatic and this is revolutionary in that its the first 3D horror film and I am ready to be blown away. The trailer shows babes, blood and spring break fun. AWESOME. Definitely the next movie I see in theaters.

It was pretty bad, but it had a few amusing moments here and there and thus, consequently, that made it MARGINALLY better than most of the other sequels. I'm not a fan of this franchise in general. The majority of them are awful. This one ALMOST manages to get up to mediocrity.
