I gotta say I'm more into computer games. FPS's being my favorite type of games, it's no surprise. Plus, I find console games a bit expensive (eh, while PCs are about 10 times more expensive, but PCs are useful in many other things)

I am a PC gamer. I prefer PC because it enables you to do more, (like download updates for your games and play online.) My fav. PC games are
UNREAL TOURNAMENT
HALF LIFE
COUNTER STRIKE
AVP 1 and 2
DIABLO II
STARCRAFT and
MAX PAYNE

I am a PC gamer. I just love all the options you have with PC games.

Well, I'll go against the grain here an day that I prefer playing on a console than a PC. I don't like the feel of playing games on my computer. I'd much rather sit back and enjoy me PS2.

I do play games on my computer but not very often.

I'm a console gamer, I only use the PC for school work and surfing the web.

I like both but I'm more of a console gamer.

Cause, well, I only own one computer game (The Sims) and it's 5 expansion packs.

I like to build stuff with PC games (any of you who've played DOOM, Quake (II, or III:Arena) or Unreal (Tournament, UT2K3) know how much fun it is to at least play custom maps and mods), and if I can't I'll get it for my PS2. If I can't do either -- I just don't get it.

I'm a PC gamer, although I believe that the console has some distinct advantages (Controllers, price, and lack of having to upgrade). While you CAN get controllers for the PC, it is not the same, and upgrading your video card etc. is expensive.

I'll give you a list of the games I currently own for pc (the good with the bad) -

Age of Empires Gold - B

Age of Empires 2 Gold - A+

Serious Sam : The Second Encounter - B+

Dungeon Siege - B-

Grand Theft Auto 3 - B+

Deer Hunter 5 - C+

The House of the Dead 2 - B

Black and White - C

Red Faction - A-

Boggle (hey, it's educational) - B

Quake 3 - C

Quake 3 Team Arena - D

Primal Prey (You hunt dinosaurs, I got it for $15) - F

Motor City Online - F

Aliens VS Predator 2 - A+

The Sims - B+

Star Wars Jedi Knight 2 : Jedi Outcast - C-

4x4 Evolution 2 - F

Counterstrike - A
-------------------------------

Games I am getting soon -

Deer Hunter 2003

Need for Speed : Hot Pursuit 2

Trophy Hunter 2003

Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

If you noticed all of the hunting games, don't think I actually hunt. I think hunting is aweful and wrong, but playing it on my computer is interesting...similar to a fps in terms of ethics.

PS - Im also getting another wireless optical mouse for my birthday (The Logitech MX-700) and a killer keyboard (Logitech media keyboard)! Woohoo!

I'm a console gamer. I do play PC games occasionally, but the keyboard/mouse control setup detracts from the experience so greatly that I rarely get any fun out of it.

Shadow: You've got Deer Hunter 5 above Q3??? I'm not flaming you man, but that's unusual ;)

Jason: Once you get used to the mouse/keyboard combo, it's SO much better than anything else when it comes to an FPS. You have complete control, and modify it to whatever degree of sensitivity and key combos you want.

Actually, I have been told that before. I am part of the .00003% of the population that does not like Q3. The reason is that I don't like ultra-fast-paced fps' (With Serious Sam being an exception). I like slower ones that require more skill and tactic as opposed to simply good aim. AvP2 and Counterstrike (which I have but forgot to add) are examples of these.

That's true -- from what I've been told of CS I don't think I'd care for it very much. But I can understand what you mean -- still funny, though ;)

Console gamer all the way. I prefer using a controller over a mouse and keyboard any day (the dualshock controller fits my hand like a glove). And I hate staring at a computer screen for long periods at a time (I know you can put PC games on the TV but that, most of the time, requires extra equipment). There is also no compatibility issues with consoles games, you may have to wait for a patch (fix) to play a game properly.

PC games also have many advantages, some I would like console game to have. I think you can play FPSs with better skill with a mouse and keyboard. PC games could have better graphics if you have a high-end computer. I also love the idea of downloading updated rosters and stuff for PC games.

Both console and PC games have their advantages and disadvantages. It merely comes down to preference and I prefer the console.

Console gamer here, I don't find PC gaming as comfortable. I mean I hate sitting at my desk to play games.

Indeed. The setup does have proprietary advantages over standard console controllers, such as those you've listed; but for some reason, when I'm playing faster paced games, no matter how I modify the controls, the setup usually leaves my knuckles burning. I think my hands are just mildly arthritic.

Most games I'm able to play pain free though: mainly slower paced; 3rd person; and ''point and click'' style PC games. I get a lot more out of the mouse/keyboard setup with these particular games. Unfortunately for me, the majority of PC games are fast paced FPS' :).

I'm a big fan of both. You can't play football on anything but a console(preferably PS2), most games I play are for the console, but you can't play Sim City or Zoo Tycoon, or Empire Earth on the console. Gotta love 'em both.

I like sports games, arcade style games, and button jammers. I grew up on NES and SNES, and I have the viewpoint that games have made realism a priority over gameplay. That, however, is an entirely different issue.

Anyway, because of the types of games that I prefer (no brainers), I greatly prefer consoles over PC gaming.

I do, however, enjoy Warcraft III. Thats probably my only exception..

There really are only a few computer games that I like, so I'm going to have to go with **console** on this one because I play more of those games.

I am console gamer all the way but I do have some pc games.
EMULATORS roms and isos is mostly what I play on my pc
so that add up to a console gamer over pc gamer .
in my Opinion pc games are not as Popular as a console games so there are better games out for it. playing with keyborad and mouse is just way to uncomfortable for me .

Pc gamer all the way. I enjoy it alot more than ps2. I have a ps2 but don't play it very much. I play on my pc almost every day and beleve it or not i play on my ps2 twice a month if i'm lucky. Now this doesn't happen cause i don't like it i never get the time  i would love to spend more time on it but pc wins everytime. Also bein a vet pc gamer with the keyboard and mouse it has warped my mind and i can no longer play console fps anymore  i just can't stand em. I used to play golden eye that was great but no more with the ps2 :(
Mostly i play online with my pc but with no broadband in my area i can't enjoy the better online games but i can still play HL mods such as CS and DOD.

i've got a question. i just got GTA: Vice City for PC and it lags big time. i think i know why, but i wanted to make sure with other PC gamers. the box says the minimum computer requirements is 128mb of ram, while the recomended memory is 256mb+. i only have 128mb in my pc. would this have anything to do with my slow gameplay and lag? everything else on my computer is up to date.

Console gamer, all the way. Some PC games are really, really good, but you'll notice that most of the time, they tend to fall into one of three major categories:

First-person shooter, and a lotta schmoes here know of my contempt for first-person view...

Real-time strategy, and that's not a bad thing, but you start seeing it TOO much after a while...

RPG, which is basically a RTS game without giant-ass armies.

Fighting games are next to nonexistent on the PC, and very, VERY few PC games have any style to 'em. Max Payne (which is also on console) is an obvious exception.

Definately a console gamer. You don't need no stinkin' upgrades to play console games, and there's the godly ps2 controller that no-one else can contend with. I did like total annihilation for the pc though, and spent hours creating maps and missions with its ever flexible editor. And, as everybody has pointed out, pc's do more than play games. But this will probably soon change with consoles....

No offense to PC gamers - if you like it, that's fine, but personally, I hate it, hate it, hate it. For starters, no matter how new your system is, you'll only ever be able to fit a handful of new games on it, and for all of them to run as intended, your computer is going to have to be devoted almost entirely to gaming instead of the myriad other, more valuable things you can do with a thousand+++ dollar system. With a console, you pop in the game and you're ready to go. No installation, no lag, no worries about disk space. The money that goes into just making a computer CAPABLE of running games even somewhat effectively could buy you two to three current consoles and a mess of great games for them that you know will always work perfectly.

In my honest opinion, the home computer is, hands-down, the worst gaming machine next to the virtual boy. Online multiplayer is the only thing it has going for it and even that's breaking into the console world. 99% of all other PC games worth a hoot get ported to the consoles anyway, where they run at 100% efficiency no matter what.

Don't start flaming me or anything... if you love enough PC-exclusive games to go to all that trouble for them, that's perfectly allright, but to many it's financially out of the question and the pros to a machine designed only to run games are large and numerous. Personally I dislike the idea of consoles doubling as DVD players, esspecially since the Ps2 absolutely sucks at it.

PC gamer, i have a N64 but wouldn't get another console except if i were to get a copy of Thrill Kill so id get a PS then......

I prefer PC's because they can be upgraded and they dont disappear after a few years when a new console comes out

forgot one thing i do hate about PCs, they crash  , I got right to the end of Half Life and nearly killed the boss, then my brother fuked the pc up and had to reload windows, so i lost all my saves, i cant be bothered to redo the whole thing, so in my mind i have completed it, i also lost all my GTA3 saves when reloading windows, didnt know they went to the drive where everything was reloaded

i do both. For about 3 years I was playing PC games the vast majority of the time... But then I had a series of huge PC problems and other stuff that pissed me off. I got tired of all the problems with PCs. So latey, majority of my game time is consoles.

It's nice though - you just stick the game in, and it works perfectly every time. It is also worth noting that with the xbox and the HDD, patches and addons as PC exclusives is a thing of the past. Well, of course, PS2 and GCN don't have HDs, but the next gen systems probably will.

PCs are too hard to keep updated and have insane, ridiculous problems. I have a GF4 TI4600, and for some reason I've never been able to figure out, it runs games worse then my old Athlon 900 mhz with a GeForce3.

There is no denying that mouse+KB is the most precise setup for FPS and some other genres, but why can't you use those on consoles? Both PS2 and Dreamcast can use them. Strange that the xbox doesn't, all things considered.

I sit in front of my computer all day at work.

When I get home, I have zero interest in booting the thing back up. Therefore I am a Nintendo man all the way.

I love other games such as GTA3, nightfire, medal of honor frontline, splinter cell, mortal kombat deadly alliance, plus others.

GTA3, Nightfire, and Splinter Cell are all available on PC. Just thought I'd mention that. And there are other Medal of Honor games on PC.

The real question is if your PC is good enough for those games, especially Splinter Cell.

I am strictly a console gamer. Never really could get into playing on the PC. I admit that they have some games that have grabbed my attention. Absolutely. But playing in front of my computer screen just never appealed to me. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
