Why are pointless movie scripts given millions of dollars to be made? I'm not sure how clear I have to be here. I get the feeling Hollywood likes to play it safe. The only problem is that when trying to play it safe, they can't they avoid the bombs. I get a little motivated to write a script every other time I watch a movie. If some of those scripts can be sold and made, I couldn't do much worse.

I sorta agree with what you say. Some of the pointless movies are good, or hilarious, or even cool. depends though. Oh and who's that on your aviator? What movie's it from?

I'm pretty sure that's Brad Pitt from Fight Club on his aviator

It's all about marketability. If a waste of film looks like it'll rake in money, the studios will give it a shot. Hollywood hates taking risks.

Yes that kind of pisses me off. Stupid ass movies get made and make huge amounts of cash and donnie darko makes nothing. it is one great movie.

Why are you wearing that stupid man suit.

FWIW, never judge a script by the finished movie.

There are so many things that can go wrong between the script stage and the screen that sometimes it's amazing any good movies get made at all.

Yeah. That's when you realize how much responsability the director really has concerning the level of quality of the flick.

It also can go the other way. Bad scripts can turn into great films.

Really?

I admit I've seen films that managed to be better than your scripts, but I'm curious what great film you saw that you thought had a lousy script.

I think that Charlie's Angels is a great film (8/10) in terms of silly, cheesy fun. I've already seen it twice and I intend to watch it again. But the script was pretty lousy.

Fatal Attraction is a classic example of a mediocre script turned into a spectacular movie.
