How do you think CoS will perform at the box office? Will it be better than SS? Will it fall short? Will it stay exactly the same as SS almost? What do you think?

My prediction is that it will do pratically the same because the same fans who saw the first two or three times will do the same again. It may do a little better, but overall the very same.

Opening in U.S.A.- 94 million

Domestic Final- 326 million

Worldwide Final- 1 billion or so(the original made 965 million)

Yeah, I think it'll make about the same too. If the movie's as long as they say it is, it could even make slightly less, I guess...

But I'll be seeing it on opening day, don't worry, Dh. ;)

I think it will have a great opening but not as big as Philosopher's Stone. But it will sure have better legs. The first movie declines something like 58% between the second and third weekend. This one shouldn't witness such a huge drop.

All the charecters are introduced and it's all made familiar from the first movie. It will be more action. More mystery and more story. It might open with $80 million and go as far as to reach something like $350 million.

These are Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone drops......

2nd weekend(Thanksgiving)- 36% drop
3rd weekend- 58% drop
4th weekend- 38% drop
5th weekend- 33% drop
6th weekend(LOTR opens)- 29% drop
During week Potter surpasses Shrek and becomes biggest grosser of the year! :)
7th weekend- 55% climb!
8th weekend- 46 % drop(Harry flies into #10 spot of top ten biggest grossers!)
9th weekend- 38% drop(Harry ventures into #9 spot of biggest grossers1)
10th weekend- 6% drop(Harry falls out of top ten at box office, BUT climbs into #8 spot of top ten grossers of all time where he sits now)

I think the third weekend drop was larger because the previous weekend was Thanksgiving and lot of people went on that weekend when we were off work and school.

I have the feeling this one will be bigger. Though, usually, sequels don't do as much as original movies (see: Episode II). But Chamber Of Secrets could be an exeption.

I think Chamber will perform a lot like TTT. People won't see it as a "sequel" as much as you would when MIIB or Stuart Little 2 were released. This is due to less-than-one year delay between their releases. If you get me?

I think it will make a tad less than The Sorcerer's Stone, but not as less as people would think because of the sequel factor. Of course, I'm no BO expert...

CoS will do way better at the box office than SS , it's already out sold SS in advance tickets.
I think that CoS will be the highest grossing film of the year , followed closely by LotR : TTT.

I hate to say it, but Spider-Man made over 400 million dollars. That is quite a bit more than SS and FOTR. Although you never know! This year will be a a war between....

Past Spiderman. I think this because everyone knows this is way more action packed than SS and has more of a plot line.
My guess 433.4million
1.5 bilion world wide.

Opening Weekend: $71 million
Final U.S. Gross: $285

It won't be as big as the first yet it will still make enough money to warrant another sequel(which is already planned).

Okay listen, everybody in the entire world knows that the second harry potter story is a richer, more action packed, and an overall better story. The amount of people that saw the fist one either liked it, or loved it. Hardly anybody didn't find at least some enjoyment from it. So if my calculations are correct, I'd say this one will have a lot more staying power and have a better opening weekend. My estimate is 120 million dollars.
