JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA VS. AVENGERS...greatest comic book ever?

Us comic book fans have been waiting for this one for a long, LONG time. In 2003, DC and Marvel will release the long-awaited JLA/AVENGERS crossover mini-series. If you're not a comic book fan, lemme just remind you that the Avengers are a team of super-heroes including Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, She-Hulk and others. The JLA (Justice League of America ) regroups Batman, Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aqua Man, the Martian Manhunter, the Green Arrow...

In the mini-series, the two super-hero teams will first come face to face before teaming up against a greater threat. Here's what writer Kurt Busiek says about the story: "Each team of super-heroes has its own solution to every problem. The JLA always tries to find a logical solution, whereas the Avengers often just rush head first into battle. So I decided to submit the Avengers to a typical situation the JLA would have to face, and vice versa."

The 4 issue mini-series will be illustrated by George Perez, one of the greatest illustrators ever, and the best guy around to draw multi-character scenes. He's worked on the Avengers before, so he knows his shit.

Personally, as a comic book fan, I'm eagerly looking forward to this...anyone else sharing my enthousiasm? :)

Yes. George Perez is on my personal Comic Mount Rushmore (along w/ John Byrne, Neal Adams and Jim Lee).

This is way, way overdue. I'm just glad Kurt's doing it. There are several other choices who could have made a hash of it.

All I have to say is this: The Scarlet Witch better kick some ass.

As a looooooooooooong time fan of the Avengers and a (not as) long time fan of the JLA, I couldn't be more psyched for this if they were giving away free copies of Amazing Fantasy #15!!!! I've wanted this match-up to happen for years and years and years, and FINALLY it's going to happen!!! I can't wait to hold it in my hands!!!

I like The Avengers and J.L.A. Word. But I gotta go with the under-dog. THE AVENGERS. These guys have some hella-cool members. Thor, Quicksilver, Iron Man, ya' can't beat it. Ya' just can't. Word.

I totally agree. I don't wanna start a whole Avengers is better or JLA is better thing, but I've always thought the Avengers would be able to take the JLA (after a huge long battle where almost everyone was killed or something...:D ) and I hope my favorite characters (She-Hulk and Firestar) get a chance to shine in the book, but I'm pretty sure the predictable route will be taken where She-Hulk cracks a few jokes and then gets beaten up, and Firestar will probably barely even be featured if at all, and it will probably be her getting taken down in the first throws of the battle....

Ah well, a guy can dream. I hope that instead of completely focusing on the "main" characters of the Avengers (Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Wonder Man ect.) Perez and Busiek will feature some of the other Avengers that are as loved as the big guns!
