I would have to say...THE GIVER.
This novel by Louis Lowry is a great story...and would make a hella-good movie. It's about a boy ( Jonas ) who lives in a futuristic eutopia. He sees no color, feels no pain, never gets mad, and so on. Until one day he is assigned a job to be the new "Giver" of thoughts. An old man in the colony tells him how life really is...with color and pain and stuff.
Jonas embarks on a quest to leave the colony...the story that ensues is a great one. One of my 3 fav. books ever.
