Both artists totally blew their contemporaries out of the water with their avant garde lyrics..

ahhh... the perfect marriage of bohemian posturing with good ol' fashion rock and Roll gonads, turned each of their repsected scenes into a nouveau france....depsite their similar influences, the two had little in common.

Patti had her shit together...even though the Doors has some great replay value, you can always rely on Easter to give that nonsensical punkk music a little brains.. and...I guess she looked oookay in leather pants...

Patti Smith urinates quite copiously all over the hideously overrated Jim Morrison. She is and always has been a genius. Jim Morrison was a bloated ego who unfortunately succeeded in finding a musical outlet for his nonsensical psychedelic witterings.

So...Jim Morrison or Patti Smith?

Patti all the way. Even typing their names in the same sentence offends me.

Jesus. I was going to talk about Jim and how much I liked him...

Glad Patti hasn't had a hatchet job done on her by Oliver Stone.

jim morrison the greatest frontman ever for a band he had everything, the voice, the attitude, charisma and he could sure write a good tune.
i cannot comment too much on patti as i have'nt heard enough by her but what i have heard is ok.
but as i have said in previous topics jim was a rock icon who i would love to have seen live,he was the real deal.

Both great in their own ways, although I dig Jim Morrison more because he got to bang Nico when she was with the Velvet Underground:)

No doubt about it, between Patti smith and Jim Morrison, Morrison beats hands down, probably the most influencial front man ever.

He even beat neil young. and Neil Young is pretty hard to beat

but Jim all the day long is great

So what! If you use that logic Justin Timberlake would beat out Neil. There's a scary thought.

It's the qaulity of the writing that's important.

O.k., maybe I was assuming something.

Anyhoo, it doesn't matter though, because as the Joey Fatone experiment proved, everyone is better looking than Jooey Fatone, including Neil.

The Joey Fatone experiment was the work of an Australian comic John Safran, who wandered around his home town of Melbourne with a huge Insync poster with the face of Joey cut out. He would then get men (any men at all) to stand in place of Joey's face and then holding a photo of Joey would ask women who was better looking, the guy with his face in the poster or Joey Fatone. The random street guy won everytime.
