I haven't seen all of his films but I would choose Raymond Babbit in Rain Man slightly over Ben Braddock in The Graduate.

Tough call between Ratso Rizzo and Raymond Babbitt. Have to go with Ratso though. Great movie, and performance.

His best performance has got to be Raymond in Rain Man. But my favorite movie of his is definitely The Graduate.

its quite unfortunate that it is hardly seen, but i think that Hoffman's performance in STRAIGHT TIME is one of his best. great movie that should be seen by more.

I think his performance in Wag The Dog is better than people give it credit for.

His best is probably Ratso Rizzo however..

I personally think his compelling, tough performance in Kramer vs. Kramer is his best, followed very closely by Rain Man and Lenny.
