What about it? What do you think is the best football? Whether it's for the PS2, X-Box or even the old NES what game provides the most in-depth, realistic football action?

By the way this is American football.

Being an avid football fan I have played a great deal of football games over the years though I really only got into them when I got my Playstation many years ago. Back then, I prefered NFL Gameday to Madden because it was easier to play. Now however, I feel that the Madden series is the best. It has great graphics and smooth gameplay. I have also played NFL2K2 for Playstation 2 and although it's a good game I just don't think it compares to Madden.

I would also like to give special recognition to Super Techmo Bowl for the NES for being the most addictive NES game I have ever played. I spent many a night with my ass planted in front of the screen playing it.

Anyway. Anyone else like to play football games? If so, which is the best...

Well, being a Madden fan since "John Madden football" on the Sega Genesis, it pains me to write this. Madden has been the pinnacle football game for many years, especially Madden 2001 for the PS2, but this year, NFL2K3 gets the gold. Between 2001 and 2003, The Madden series hasen't really changed. If you played 2002 already, then know that 2003 is damn near the same game with a new cover boy. 2K3 offers a fresh new look and startlingly smart AI to the game. Even if I won or lost, the games remained close, I even had 2 overtimes in one season. And for the first time, I had to play in the wildcard race to get into the playoffs with a 9-7record, then smile through a tough loss to Jacksonville in the first round. Football at it's best. For the first time in years, King Madden has some competition.
