I voted for A.I.
Robert Zemeckis directed the BTTF films and technically Tobe Hooper directed Poltergeist, although some say that he and Spielberg were really co-directors.

I am recusing myself from this vote. Any "Best of Spielberg" poll that does not list Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan or Empire of the Sun is incomplete at best. I understand not having room to put everything he's done, but to list the three BTTF movies, which he didn't even direct and leave out those three classics is mind-boggling.

Absolutely. Even though I voted for A.I., Schindler's List is Spielberg's finest three hours.

I agree with Grebdron and Nate: Schindler's List is Spielberg's best movie. Out of those on the list, I voted for A.I.

Aye, brother...but let's not forget Amistad, either.
I'm a little pissed about that too.

Moderator's Note: Rather than start a whole new thread, I've added all of Spielberg's films (besides 1941, but if anyone requests it be added, it can be) and removed the four films on the list he didn't direct (Back To The Future Trilogy and Poltergeist {it's uncredited and only a few scenes, if the rumors are true}). Let the voting commence...

Spielberg didn't direct them Lex, Robert Zemeckis did. That's why I took them off. Spielberg produced them, but he has produced TONS of movies, that's why I took it off and replaced it with movies he's directed and will likely draw more votes anyway. Same goes with Poltergeist, taken off because he didn't direct it.
However, you did originate the post, if you really want them on there, say so and I can put them back...

I voted for Jaws. In my eyes, Speilberg hasn't made a truely great movie since Raiders. I liked SPR, but it was a little too much sometimes. Not the violence (which NOBODY else would've gotten away with BTW), just the sheer arrogance of it... same goes with Schindler's List... way too much for me.

Schindler's List
(Why are there so many votes for Last Crusade???????????) (Or, better... Why am I the ONLY person so far to vote for Schindler's List??????????)

His best I'd say is Schindler's List....God what an incredible film. It's social importance alone is so overwhelming, it almost defies critical analysis. This movie more than any other put me in awe of the man.
My favorite....that'd probably be Jaws though, I can see that movie almost every day. I also share your mystification over Last Crusade though, movie guy. *sigh*

I most definitely would have voted for Schindler's List previously, but it wasn't on there. Picking from his movies is like trying to choose your favorite child, but SL is the cream of the crop. Close seconds are SPR and EOTS.

Not an easy choice, but "Saving Private Ryan."

His best is by far one of the greatest films ever made: Schindler's List. Think of the kind of scarring this would do to an 11 year old, and you would have my first experience watching the film. It resides somewhere in my top twenty of all time.
My favorite though, will always be E.T., and as Quent and some others like to call it behind my back, "The Extra-Testicle". My #2 director of all time.

Same here.
...but I choose SCHINDLER'S LIST. I also loved the INDIANA JONES series, the original JAWS and the original JURASSIC PARK...but so help me if they make another fucked up sequel, I may just go postal.
Duel, his first movie, is his best. The rest of his movies are crap. Schindler's List was O.K. as was Raiders of the Lost Ark. I think Speilberg is a horrible director with too much money.
Duel kicks ass. Not just as a Speilberg film, but as a film in general. You know, after doing A.I. my hatred for Speilberg was solidified. How dare he fuck up Kubrick's idea. I don't care if they were great friends and Kubrick sent him his ideas. I think Kubrick knew Speilberg couldn't handle the subject. And hey! He couldn't. I wish people wouldn't love that guy's movies so much because they are, generally, nothing more than unoriginal studio flicks for mass audiences. Yea, that's just my opinion though.

Jaws (10/10) is still Spielberg's baby, it gets my vote. The sequels don't come close to the classic thriller.

No way i could choose, he is such a gifted story teller that all is films mean somthing to me... from E.T. to Jaws to Saving Private Ryan to the underrated writing credit of Polterguist to Shindlers List to the Raiders trilogy (soon to be series) to Empire of the Sun.... All of his films mean somthing to me....
And yes, i even loved 1941 and The Lost World....

By far, SCHINDLER'S LIST is his best, but it's not my favorite. But the question is 'best' not 'favorite'.

Well, being an Indy fan, I'll have to go with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
