I won't vote since you took out, FOR SOME REASON (guess you didn't see the film), Tom Wilkinson for In the Bedroom. I thought his performance was one of the best and most natural of any actor's that I have EVER seen. I would replace him with Russell Crowe, but that's just me. I think Crowe fucking sucked in A Beautiful Mind. In my opinion, he ACTED like John Nash, as opposed to BECOMING him. I didn't see Will Smith's performance, but I have a feeling he probably did this more than Crowe did. Could be wrong though, so I won't comment further.

FILM
THE OTHERS Ranks #4 on my Top Ten List, my #1 is actually "Waking Life"
ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
RUSSELL CROWE – A BEAUTIFUL MIND - He deserved the oscar for his flawless portrayal of John Nash, have not yet caught "In the Bedroom".
ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
RENEE ZELLWEGER – BRIDGET JONES’ DIARY - Haven't seen "Monster's Ball" yet, but Zellweger was the best of the noms.
DIRECTOR
PETER JACKSON – LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING - Have not see MD
ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
GENE HACKMAN – THE ROYAL TENNEBAUMS - Ben Kingsley rocked, but Hackman proved to give a better more well rounded performance.
ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
JENNIFER CONNELLY – A BEAUTIFUL MIND - Oh c'mon, she deserved it.
SCREENPLAY- ADAPTATION
A BEAUTIFUL MIND
SCREENPLAY - ORIGINAL
THE OTHERS
ANIMATED FILM
I'm sorry, but none of those deserved recognition over "Waking Life".:D
ART DIRECTION
MOULIN ROUGE - By a mile, the most inventive, technically, of any movie last year.
CINEMATOGRAPHY
THE MAN WHO WASN’T THERE - Astounding B&W photography.
COSTUME DESIGN
MOULIN ROUGE - By a mile, again.
FILM EDITING
MEMENTO - Obviously...
FILM IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Didn't see any yet
MAKEUP DESIGN
Nothing worthy of it
ORIGINAL SCORE FOR A DRAMA
A I - ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE - My hat goes off to John Williams
ORIGINAL SCORE FOR A MUSICAL OR COMEDY
THE ROYAL TENNEBAUMS
ORIGINAL SONG
“COME WHAT MAY” – MOULIN ROUGE
SOUND
BLACK HAWK DOWN
SOUND EFFECTS EDITING
I don't pay attention to this kind of stuff.
VISUAL EFFECTS
A I - ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE - Some of this stuff is amazing. LOTR really suffers, some of the Visual FX comes off really fake most of the time. A.I.'s was done better, and the least noticeable.

I know Hannibal got bad reviews, but it should have been nominated for cinematography and art decoration--both are nearly flawless. Even its detractors gave it credit for technical merit.
