I personally think Raging Bull and Taxi Driver were robbed. And the fact that Martin Scorsese has never got an Oscar is an outrage!

2001: A Space Odyssey and Saving Private Ryan come to mind as having been robbed of Best Picture. Depending on which you prefer, Raging Bull or Empire Strikes Back were robbed in '80, as was Fargo in 96. Of course Citizen Kane was robbed way back in '41, and don't get me started on what should've won in 1960.

Well, hell. Until I find a site that has a list of all the nominees of every year (I found a site before but now I've lost it), I'll just say Saving Private Ryan and Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Anyone know of a site?

As much as I liked Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption absolutely should have won Best Picture.

Almost Famous's lack of a nomination pisses me off, too.

In my opinion, every year has at least 2 great films that are not nominated for Best Picture, but the biggest injustice ever in terms of nominated films is......

THE SIXTH SENSE (10/10)

.....losing to.......

American Beauty (3/10)

:(

LOTR losing to A Beautiful Mind and Chicago (both films are a 9/10, but neither are memorable enough to be the best film of the year.)

Pulp Fiction or Shawshank losing to Forrest Gump (another great film, but not as good).

LA Confidential losing to Titanic.

Gandhi over Tootsie or ET.

Kramer vs. Kramer over Apocalypse Now.

Ordinary People over Raging Bull.

and soooooooo many more...
