Just wondering what people think of different singers/musicians that act in movies.

I think that although there are alot that shouldn't be doing it (Ice Cube, anyone) there are some music people out there that are fine actors.

My personal favorites are David Bowie (excellent in last temptation, basquiat, odd in fire walk with me), Joe Strummer, Chris Isaak, and my alltime favorite, Tom Waits ( one of the coolest people ever, very creepy in Dracula, and awsome in Down By Law).

Dude rocks!! Bat out of Hell is one of the best concept albums ever, and he's been good in every movie I've ever seen him in. From Rocky Horror Picture Show all the way up through Fight Club. Him and Ed Norton made that good.

I've always liked Ice Cube. He gave fine performances in Three Kings, Boyz N The Hood and Barbershop.

Jared Leto is a good actor/musician as well.

What has Jared Leto done musically?

I thought Mandy Moore did a fine job in A Walk to Remember. She can actually act unlike her fellow popstar/actor wannabees like Mariah and Britney.

*Meat Loaf
*Bjork
*David Bowie
*Roger Daltrey
*Courtney Love

Sting wasn't TOO bad in Brimstone and Treacle...Bearable, but far from spectacular!

Prince and Billy Idol deserve a mention for comedy value alone!

I thought that Harry Connick Jr. played a great psycho in the excellent and underrated Copycat.

Queen Latifah gave fantastic performances in the little seen Living OUt Loud as well as the underrated Set It Off.

I THOUGHT that was Leto in 30 Seconds.

I'd pick Mark Wahlberg (although, was never a singer), Ice T (again, never a singer), Gene Simmons (best as a prickass badguy), Meatloaf... and my personal fave, Jennifer Lopez (far better actor then singer).

Jewel was good in that flick she did, and Britney LOOKED great in Crossroads. :D

As long as they pick one, and freaking stay with it. There's nothing I hate more then egos that can't stick with one thing. Ooooh, I'm a famous actor, I want more accolades and attention, better get into music too!!! (same goes the other way... egos man... sheesh!)

I'll be hip and say,Frank Sinatra, although sometimes his acting was sub- par. He was great in Cannonball Run II...

JENNIFER LOPEZ Her On The 6 and J.Lo albums are nice to the ear I think.

JARED LETO Great actor, and his band has come out with some pretty good tunes

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT Her latest album and single BareNaked is definitely worth a listen. It isn't a Britney type album and really showcases her tlaent and song writing ability.

HARRY CONNICK JR , MANDY MOORE , MEAT LOAF and COURTENEY LOVE all worth a mention.

And even though they haven't made careers out of singing, I think KIRSTEN DUNST , MICHELLE PFEIFFER , EWAN McGREGOR , NICOLE KIDMAN and SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR all can hold a very pleasant tune.

Harry Connick Jr. was great in "The Copycat". Chayanne made a nice performance in "Dance with me", Marc Anthony made a good one in "Bringing out the dead". I think Eminem`ll be terrific.

I was extremely impressed with Ewan McGregor's singing ability in Moulin Rouge.

Donnie Wahlberg was great in Ransom, The Sixth Sense and Band Of Brothers. I'm looking forward to Dreamcatcher a lot.

His brother Mark in Boogie Nights, Three Kings and The Perfect Storm.

Ice Cube can bring home a solid performance.

Dwight Yoakam in Panic Room and Sling Blade.

Absolutely the worst are Madonna and Courtney Love.

Annie Hall

Jack Black is an equally talented songwriter/comedian. (Take that to mean what you will)

Ewan McGregor is not a singer, persay...but...I think singing in A Life Less Ordinary, Nora, Moulin Rouge and Down with Love qualifies him as something in the bloody music industry!

Gwenyth Paltrow did 2 songs on the less than forgettable flick Duets, too bad she did'nt jump at the chance on a album deal. Also A Much MUCH Previous posed the question if Nicole Kidman counts? I think she does! She did 1 song outside of MR w/ Robbie Williams A.....lol a cover of course which sounded pretty good.
