I'm not a Star Trek fan per se, I don't watch any of the series because I don't enjoy them, but I've always enjoyed the movies for one reason or another, especially the exciting First Contact. I even kind of enjoyed Insurrection. But this review is quite discouraging. To hear about stupid subplots, wasted characters, and convoluted dialogue frustrates me. Oh well...

I've never quite understood the selection process for these ultra-early screenings to seemingly random people. About four months ago Harry Knowles got to see ATTACK OF THE CLONES prior to it's release date, now this guy has a copy of NEMESIS just fall into his lap? Does this ever happen to anyone working at this site?
Well, in any event, I'm not a die-hard TREK fan either, although I'll admit that NEMESIS intrigues me. NEXT GENERATION was the only TREK series I watched with any regularity, so the end of it's film tenure is enough to pique my interest. I'm discouraged by all of the negative commentary in this review (and that Data subplot sounds abominable!), but I'm always skeptical when it comes to uber-early reviews, so I suppose time will tell.

I don't like this guy's annoying personality. Even the name of his site--FilmJerk--grates on me. His review sounds like a lot of hot air. Besides, by his own admission it's just a rough cut. The final version should be much better. It's an even-numbered film ya know! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Star Trek's main problem is that it's surrounded by this major geek culture, and it simply doesn't reach a great deal of people. Now, I'm not saying that everyone who likes it is a geek, but that's the perception of it. It may be a sad thing, cause I'm sure Nemesis may have some potential, although I'm not a fan, not much into it, and don't therfore hold much hope for a decent Star Trek film to those un-initiated.
This is totally my opinion, but it just seems as though non-fans are distanced and there's so much gobbledygook that is it very hard to actually enjoy and be involved in the films. The same applies with Star Wars, but to a slightly lesser degree in my opinion.
The teaser poster looks silly (looked as though it was advertising a cross dressing party at a local night club), the trailer looked ok, and I won't see it in cinemas unless I've really got nothing else to do.
This is one man's opinion, I hope I don't get slaughtered to death http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif
