I'm going to be real lazy and just do a couple, but I think Scorsese for director(GONY), and Nicole Kidman for "The Hours". I could also see "Chicago" doing well.

Ummmm.....the only way the directors and the Best pictures match perfectly........will be including The Two Towers on the list.

I'm not sure in the movie will be at the Oscars but CERTANLY Peter Jackson will have his second chance.

About The Two Towers, sequels rarely do well at the Oscars. Another Supporting nom for McKellen is an OK bet, maybe even Best Director. Best Picture, no way. The Godfather Parts II and III are the exceptions, not the rule.

That's why I didn't agree on the same list in the Best Picture and Best Director category.

I also think that The Two Towers will be a very hard pic on the Best Picture category. But Peter Jackson is a CERTAIN pic in the directors category.

Why?......Because when you can direct a mass of actors and extras for a 45 minutes (on screen) epic battle...you really deserve the nomination.

Although i have lost my respect for the oscars these past few years i'll still watch it. But i still think its too early to tell, b/c who knew last year that A Beautiful Mind would come out at the last second and take best picture... well some of you might have, but i also think that Gangs of New York will flop due to it being so hyped. Seen it before. It won't live up to your expectations.

i also do not think gangs of new york and two towers will win. chicago and road to perdidtion are also skeptical nods. chicago is trying to make up for what moulin rouge didnt do at the oscars and i dont think it will work.

What do you think will win then, Weezer?

I don't have much on the predictions, but I really want to see Michelle Pfeiffer take home an Oscar, and I have heard that her performance in WHITE OLEANDER could get her the golden statue she deserves. I hope she is nominated and I hope she wins.

I also saw how some of you have mentioned Jennifer Aniston as a possible candidate.

Is she that good? Because she is the typical actress that the academy want to avoid.

Nate6
09-04-2002, 03:11 PM
I think Aniston could very easily pull a Helen Hunt this year.

Well, pretty cool almost everyone is mentioning Diane Lane for her superb performance in Unfaithful.
Renee Zelwegger and Nicole Kidman should be front runners.

But there's a whole season of movies ahead. Too early to predict. Though I do agree on certain movies like:

The Road To Perdition
Chicago
Gangs Of NY
Catch Me If You Can
The Two Towers

....and Oh! Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets could be in the competition! ;)

all i i know that star wars shouldnt get even a nom...

one of these should win best Visiual effects

Minority report
the two towers

if TTT got a nom for Best picture that will be a new record for a sequel to get a nom for best picture.

Catch Me If You Can
Gangs of New York
Lord of the Rings: Two Towers (I had my doubts but the buzz has been building really fast.)
My Big Fat Greek Wedding (Just a hunch)

I'll end up watching the oscars no matter what I say I'm going to do instead.
