On the main menu of disc one on the DVD, what is the name of the song that is playing in the background?

Is it called "One ring to rule them all?"
I'm not sure. Could anyone confirm that?
Thanks in advance if so.
Don't know if this will be any help, but......
The Prophecy
Concerning Hobbits
The Shadow Of The Past
The Treason Of Isengard
The Black Rider
At The Sign Of The Prancing Pony
A Knife In The Dark
Flight To The Ford
Many Meetings
The Council Of Elrond (feat. the song "Aniron" - theme from Aragorn and Arwen) - Enya
The Ring Goes South
A Journey In The Dark
The Bridge Of Khazad Dum
Lothlorien (feat. the song "Lament For Gandalf") - Elisabeth Fraser
The Great River
Amon Hen
The Breaking Of The Fellowship (feat. the song "In Dreams") - Edwar Ross
May It Be - Enya
Is the official soundrack listing, and it seems to be in chronological order. The only mention of "ring" would be "The Ring Goes South". You could probably download it to check.
Which DVD version are you referring to?
If it's the theatrical cut DVD, then the theme that plays over the menu is not on the soundtrack.
It's in TTT soundtrack, but only briefly. It's my favourite theme from the films and they didn't even put it on the first soundtrack!
Strangely "The Prophecy" is a piece of music that doesn't appear in the film.

I've found the song by now. It actually is in the first soundtrack, at the end of the song The Great River, but a better version is in the first track of The Two Towers. (The DVD version I was talking about is the 2-disc theatrical cut.)
I thought you were being specific. The theme that plays over the menu is not on the soundtrack, but it is in a different form and is very short in "The Great River" track, although I would agree that it is a great use of that theme at that particular moment.

When the third sountrack comes out, I am going to burn myself a CD out of the best music from the trilogy--I just want to have every different theme they have, I'm not interested in listening to numerous different versions of the same theme, which is why I want to have only one CD instead of buying all three.

Really? Is it not the music from the prologue?
No, it's an entirely different piece of music.
