How will ROTK end? Will they have an epilouge that tells how Legolas built a boat and Gimli and him sailed together to the Undying Lands. Will it tell of Ellessar dying and Arwen, in grief, going to Lorien to die and be buried on Cerin Amoroth. Will it tell of the Reunited Kingdom or of Eldarion? What do you guys think?

who knows? those are all interesting plot points that would be nice if included. i would also like to see Sam's final days in the Shire and his departure to the West.

Obviously, everyone's sense of what closure will work for them is going to be different. I would prefer that it end exactly as it did in the book, with Sam saying "I'm back". I don't see a need for an epilogue, it'll just be rather depressing and a bit of overkill, possibly detracting from the movie as did the 'epilogue' for A.I.

i agree that alot of the "epilogue" stuff is depressing.:(

I think an epilogue would work very well, especially if it was done from someone like Frodo. I don't think the ending should talk about everyone going off to the grey havens, just Elrond, Galadriel, Bilbo, Frodo, Gandalf etc.

It'd be perfect seeing the boat sailing away at dusk with Sam waving them off with an epilogue from Frodo. :)

SPOILERS FOR A.I.

Do you mean the aliens and the mum coming back for one day? I found that to be a beautiful ending. I mean I have spent over two hours with this cute robot boy as he travels through this awful world for the love of his mum. I do not want leave him in the depths of a submerged New York pleading with a glass fairy. It is too sad. Too depressing. I liked his happy ending with mum, Teddy, and the bed. I thought it was sweet and perfectly wrapped up the fairy tale film.

END OF SPOILERS FOR A.I.

Sorry for the rant that goes off topic. :(

You do know that he has gone to sleep forever, and poor Teddy will sit there on the bed for eternity waiting for him to wake up? Not such an uplifting ending IMHO :)
