This is one of Mr Kings greatest books in the past few years and I have to say the trailer for it (with Jason Lee no less!) looks really cool. I highly recommend reading the book plus downloading the trailer.

Lawrence Kasdan+Another all star cast featuring most of my favourite actors(I.E.-Mumford,Silverado)=Another flawless film by Kasdan.

I'm curious to whether they are going for an R rating or PG-13.

I've seen the trailer a few times, what's this movie about.
Something about a bad dream getting through a dreamcatcher.

This movie better DAMN WELL be R, and I'm quite certain it has to be... wait...! Come to think of it, there is nothing R-rated at all about the trailer. Great. Just fucking great. Although I did hear news of what would seem to have to be a particularly gory scene involving blood and guts...

Having read the book I can't imagine it being anything other than an R if it wishes to retain the absolute horror of a certain scene near the beginning of the book. Schmoes who have read the book will understand which particular scene i'm talking about. Schmoes who haven't read the book...prepare to be grossed out (providing the movie sticks to the book).

The friends in the book go hunting and share a cabin out in the woods. A stranger arrives at the cabing looking worse for wear and they let him stay. He has something pretty serious wrong with him and in the morning they discover that the bed he slept in is saturated with blood and he has made his way into the toilet. What then happens is that an alien creature that has been growing inside his body basically erupts from the guys asshole tearing it's way out of him and in the process the bathroom gets liberally splashed with blood. It's been a while since I read it so i'm a little hazy on the specifics. It is a pretty gross scene when you read it in the book.

I hate long books(I don't need to read that long-ass book,The Stand,to know it was King's best coming from my Mom),but I loved Pet Semetary and the collection,Night Shift.
Should I really head out to Borders and get myself a copy of Dreamcatcher?

YES you should really head out to borders and get a copy. Yes the length put me of too but trust me...its good and then you can read about the BIG GORY DEATH SCENE everyone is talking about (now does that get you drooling?).

Ummm, long books can be the best (or worst) things you'll ever read. Don't trust your mom's opinion of The Stand. One of the best stories ever told!! Read it!! And Dreamcatcher has the potential to be a great movie, just hope they do it justice. Maybe they can develop a great movie out of Insomnia too.

</font>1.Dude,first off I can't go through long books because I lose interest after a while and I just end up selling the book rather than finishing it.

Not the Robin Williams movie. Stephen King wrote a book called Insomnia having nothing to do with that movie. I was saying they should make a movie out of his book.

I think this movie looks alright. I saw the preview at Eight Legged Freaks. It dosn't look like a theatre movie but I might rent it.

Stephen King is the Horror God.
When it comes to books there's none better and "most" of his movies where hits. Dreamcatcher has an all-star cast and has been worked on now for quite some time. It's a definite theater movie.
And about long books they put me off all the time but when I finally gave in and read It (a 1000+ page book) I was impressed.

That's really weird. I've only read about 4 Stephen King books. I had started reading this a while ago, I'm about 500 pgs into it and I wasn't aware that this was gonna be a movie. Cool. Looking forward to it.

The flick has a great premise plus an all-star cast and Lawrence Kasdan behind the camera. Gonna be great!
I'm also wondering about the rating. "R" if I had to put money on it.

Dreamcatcher will be an 18 in the UK, i have not read the book but will ask m friend Emma if i can borrow it.
Also selling this movie for a $1 the craziest thing ever done in horror history.

I like the novel, but I think the film is going to bite the big one. The trailer's attempts at being scary fall flat on their face and Morgan Freeman will suck as the crazy general. Mr. King's books are usually screwed up on screen(with a few exceptions) and this one looks to follow that trend. This will be more IT than The Shining.

*The Sun Dog

Wow i didn't know Jason Lee is in this. He deserves a good movie after Stealing Harvard. I have only seen this preview twice before Ghost Ship and Femme Fatale but this is quickly gonna be one of my most anticipated movies for next year. Kasdan is a proven director and the snowy atmosphere looks the best I have seen since the Shining. I personally cannot wait to see this in the theaters. I haven't read the book either but I will have to look for it next time up at Border's

I know this is way off subject but what they NEED to do is make a movie out DESPERATION and THE DARK TOUR SERIES ...those were great!!!!
Just as long as they aren't anything like The Dead Zone Remake Carrie Remake or Rose Red....ek
ooh you know ROSE MADDER would be nice!!

Dreamcatcher was the perfect Stephen King novel to be made into a film, all of its elements fit that of a film's. This film looks very good, the trailer was just awesome.

that made me laugh really hard.
the way you worded it. still really gross.
Eh I think the story would be scarier if involved indian legends or evil spirits. I mean I dunno, the whole dreamcatcher thing kinda gives it that edge. I don't dig the alien idea.

The gUnslinger would make an awesome movie, but they may have to improvise a bit with the Tull scene (if you read the book you'd know). Dreamcatcher is still good though.
