So I just watched Joy Ride 5 minutes ago, and I loved it! I thought it was great, humorous and scary. Anyways, since this movie takes Duel's, and Breakdown's premise about a crazy trucker and puts some younger kids in the mix, it made me think how much I like these kinds of movies.
My question is, what other ones are there? I have seen Duel (9/10), Breakdown (7/10), and now Joy Ride (9/10), and I have heard that The Hitcher is very good, but have not yet seen it. Is it worth it? Are there other ones? If you know any please post, thanks!
PS - Don't spoil movies ok?

I think Wanda the demented Flo of bad 80's movies says it best: "WE MADE YOUUUUUU!"
The segment of NIGHTMARES (also featuring a young Emilio Estevez) is about a truck chasing repentant priest LANCE HENRIKSEN. It is short, but the best out of the four segments.

Damn it ! I forgot the name of it, but there was that one tv movie in the late 70s with Valerie Harper. She was being chased by a phantom driver. It was pretty effective. Help me out folks.

skweemkween: I'm pretty sure it was "NIGHT TERROR".
The best killer truck movie has to be Maximum Overdrive! It's on eof my favorite horror movies ever!

My favorite is the well-crafted teen thriller Joy Ride. Yes, a modern film with young people that doesn't annoy you by being "trendy." The Hitcher was also a decent movie with some good suspense. Maximum Overdrive was pretty cheesy, but it has some camp appeal if not taken too seriously.

Well, the only other crazy truck driver I can think of at the moment is:Large Marge :D
Seriously, for some cool "Road Horror", check out the cool little thriller, Road Games with Jamie Lee Curtis, Race With the Devil with Peter Fonda and Switchback with Dennis Quaid.
But definitely do yourself a favor and check out The Hitcher first. You won't be disappointed.

If you want a film that deals with plenty of madness on the highways, check out Death Race 2000 . Yeah, I know it wasn't what you were really lookin' for with this thread, but I've been looking for a reason to bring this one up.
But honestly, I can't think of any "Joy Ride"-type movies not mentioned in the thread already.

Trivia note:
Duel was written by horror legend Richard Matheson (also responsible for I Am Legend), and on the DVD of Jeepers Creepers there is an easter egg that is a couple of minutes of him talking about the truck chase in Duel (probably because in the commentary and documentary, Victor Salva mentons how much of an influence Duel was on the look of the Creeper's truck and on the chase sequence.

The best films in the "road kill" subgenre are DUEL, JOY RIDE, JEEPERS CREEPERS, THE HITCHER, CHRISTINE and ROAD GAMES.
