Has anyone else besides me seen this film? It isn't really horror, more of kung fu, but it has extreme gore, so I thought it fitted into the genre.
Its about this guy named "Ricky" and he goes to a Hong Kong prison for killing a pimp that murdered his girlfriend. Not much of a plot, but with all the gore put into this film makes it entertaining to watch. Most will disagree with me when I say "This movie is friggin' awesome!", because they might laugh at it, in a unintentional way. But anyway, I can guarantee you'll love this film like I did, and you should buy a copy of this film, watch it, and enjoy this Hong Kong treat. Period.

I tried to order a copy of this on DVD from Hong Kong. I accidently added the VCD to my Shopping Basket and found to my annoyance that it lacks english subs. I'm going to buy the Hong Kong Legends Special Edition DVD when it comes out. I only watched a few hightlights of the VCD. It looks hilarious.

"Hey Ricky, somebody gave me 30lbs of rice to turn you into mincemeat and put you in a pie!!!"
When something is held in high esteem by my good self, I will refer to it as "The Shit". This is, "The Shit".
"Ever since you were a small boy Ricky, i have noticed that you posessed superhuman Strength..."
Man, i first got hold of an Nth gen B&W dubbed VHS version of Ricky a few years back, and havent been the same about Kung Fu flicks since... Admittedly there've been a few Ricky posts here to my knowledge and ive always tried to pipe up, but what the Hell eh? Yeah, Ricky Fuckin Rules!
SEE Ricky disembowel 400lb porkers with his bare hands!
SEE Ricky perform surgery on his own Tendons!
SEE Ricky cleave heads in two with his bare Hands!
I got me the import DVD, which is dubbed and/or subbed (Hilariously i might add), and have gratuitiously lent it round to all the Boys at work, garnering it somewhat of a huge fanbase here in Pompey. Yes thats right, even Joe Pub loves Ricky!
If youve ever laughed at a poorly dubbed movie - see this.
If youve ever enjoyed a Badassss Kung Fu movie - See this.
If youve ever enjoyed a Gore Flick - See this.
Without going into Mucho review stylee detail, it is really difficult to pin down Riki - Ohs numerous achievements, but as one major Fan of entertaining (and very gory) movies to a boardfull of others, track down this movie and see it... YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED... well maybe some of you will be, but hey, some people dont like Bad Taste! Are you reading this Mr C?
If only i had said DVD here, id be posting a groovy pic of Ricky royally fuckin over some scumbags... believe me, he does...
Oh yeah, Psychocandy! Is this a UK release of Ricky Oh i hear you talk of? Pray thee tell have you any ideas on its DVD contents? Ive got the DVD that you wanted, as in with loads of wierd HK trailers with no subs and other indecipherable shit... What wonders are there in store for the UK market? More importantly, will it be Uncut?!?!?! Ive got a whole heap of buddies who only have PS2s and so cannot see the wonders of my NTSC Ricky Oh disc...

I bought it on VHS for $20.00. I really would like to get my hands on a copy of that DVD, because I heard there is more footage that was cut from the US version.

Truly awesome film. One of the most gory non-horror films I've ever seen.
It's not horror so I don't know what it's doing here BTW.

well, to be honest, DannyBF, u really owe yourself a copy of the DVD... I dont own many DVDs but will only go for those which find themselves among my all time classics... Ricky is exactly that, and plus if you get the HK import, you are guaranteed the full UC Version (dammit, seeing the head crush makes me NEED my DVD back to post pics... grrrrr), but if u can play PAL Multi region discs, sounds like the one PSychocandys talking about'll be the better bet!
I am in fact really interested to hear the critics commentary on Ricky! I mean, its interesting to hear the critics take... whenever me and me mates watch it, every act of violence is met with cheers of appreciation or hoots of laughter, how would Joe Movie Critic take the whole thing?
******SPOILER-IFFIC*********
Also, "Fisting Ackbar" - dude, anyone who says this isnt Horror hasnt seen the groovy monster that the Head Warden turns into at the end!!! Eh? Eh? Rubber-suit-tastic!!!
Fuck it, Rickys a total classic and whether strictly Horror or not, I think for its sheer balls (and the amount of people who get all fucked over) deserves the esteem of appreciation by those who frequent this good site!
RRRRAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

The whole movie is more of an action/martial arts film to me except for the ending which you described, but that still doesn't really make it a horrorfilm for me.

OK, just trying to throw u a swerve ball - Shit, ET was scarier than that fuckin rubber suit dude... (Oh and where the Hell did that shit come from? Answers on a postcard please!!!)
Hey, but then think like this - Is it the sort of movie that Schomes would dig or what? Man this has more splatter than we saw in the whole of the 90s from US horror! (Maybe an exaggeration, but u get the idea!) Id imagine that a lot of schmoes, if theyd not heard any of the reccos here, wouldnt even give this a second glance in their video shop, where this by every rights belongs up there with Brain Dead/Dead alive in the annuls of International Splatter Cinema!
Shit, as far as im concerned, getting word of this movie out to people who'd appreciate it is paramount - and the fact that theres been no other complaints about its presence here would imply that im not alone in thinking this!
Man, if id never seen this and saw the
SHIEZA!!!! CRUSHING HEAD HEAD FROM RIKI OH!!!!
so lovingly posted by DannyBF, id be out like a motherf@cker to get my hands on this badboy!
Sorry if im getting anal over such a trivial matter, but would YOU have wanted to miss out on a cinematic experience like this?

This movie kicks so much ass, I was afraid I had hemroids. Its that good, fellas. If you see only one film this year, let it be Riki Oh. If you see only two films this year, see Riki Oh again. Hell, don't even think about renting, just buy it! When you see a movie starting out showing a guy with bullets stuck in his chest, and saying "Its a souvenier", then you know how much fucking awesome its gonna be. DON'T WAIT!!!!! SEE IT NOW!!!! Its too good to miss. Trust me. ;)

I'm not sure if anybody is aware, but you can pick this movie up on DVD in the States, as well. It's available from a company called Media Blasters, and if you look you can find it (especially at SunCoast video). It doesn't have a whole lot of extras (mainly just trailers for Riki-O and 3 or 4 other kung-fu flicks), but it's awesome just to say you own it, in my opinion.

I'll get my Region 2 DVD on Christmas. I've read only positive reviews from it.

Kung-fu gore has never reached such hilarious, over-the-top, delicious heights! Pure excellence; from the side-splitting dubbing to the excessive violence, "Story of Ricky" has it all.
Important: Do not attempt to watch this film while eating dinner. I just did and it's not doing my stomach any favours.
