I am currently reading Four Past Midnight by Stephen King. The Langoliers is the first novel in this four-book series. I'm on page 30 and am not too interested in finishing.
Has anyone read this book? And, if so, was it any good? Worth reading?
I've seen the movie...and it sucks. I hope the book is better.

I thought the book was pretty good. It was definately better than the horrible movie version. Not the best Stephen King has to offer but it does get better. I'd stick with it unless you have something better to read.

The novella was very enjoyable. It reminded me a bit of the kind of stories that were favored by The Twilight Zone series. Definitely stick with it.

Yeah, Psychocandy has hit the nail on the head! I enjoyed this novella for that simple reason - it read like a classic (if a little lengthy!) TZ episode. I thought the pay-off was well executed, and works far better than the TV version (which was waaayyy too long - they could've done a decent job of this in a maximum of two hours, but to drag it out to three made watching it a chore at times.
Stick with it Movi-Maniac, and then get ready for the far superior The Library Policeman!

You and I have had so many pm's and this didn't come up. No, I haven't read the book and am not likely too. It is impossible to imagine it being better than the movie, which I happened to catch on a noncommercial channel about two weeks ago.
Pac-man on speed, right?
Most people cite The Shining as their favorite King movie, but I prefer the also all-star Salem's Lot, which was a tv production. I've tried a couple of times to read the books, but King is a movie script writer, not a serious novelist.
