Valentine is a slasher that i really love and i don't know why so much peoples think that it's pure crap. I know that the plot is very "déjà vu" and the movie is very cheesy but after one hour and half i can't say that i was bored.
Suspense
There's some good suspense in the movie but there is also some fake scares. The morgue scene is really suspensfull and the body change (you will see) is just amasing. Also i was totally on the edge of my seat during the hot tub scene with Denise Richard. That death scene is really intense. Also the final frame of the movie was really suspensfull.
Gore
The movie is not a "gore fest" (director said that the movie was trimmed down in a lot of scenes) but there's enough violence for a slasher movie. A slit throat (more suggested than seen but just the sound of her strangling is cool) , death by arrows , iron in the face , axe in the back (very quick scene) , throat crushed on a broken glass , some drill action and an electrocution in the hot tub! Also we get some gun action at the end and we see an after the fact decapitation and an other dead body that the killer is moving.
Acting
Never mind.
Soundtrack
I really love the soundtrack of the movie. Every songs are really good and fit what is on screen and i really dig the score by Don Davis.
T&A
Nothing very spectacular (anyways i really don't care about that). We see some tits in a video in one scene and toward the end Denise Richard is confronted with a naked dude ... but don't be afraid she take care of the situation very well ...
Anyways
Valentine is good and i think that real slasher fans will dig it a lot. There's really good chasing scenes , action scenes and some pretty decent death scenes in this flick!
I give to Valentine a very big 8 out of 10

SPOILERS!!!!
I really disliked this movie. I couldn't feel anything for any of the characters (Like why were all the men portrayed as sleazy) and the whole plot was predictable and overdone. Also, by revealing the killer in the final shot, it's just adds more questions and plotholes. Like why would David Boreanaz wait all that time to kill everybody if he was dating Marley Shelton for a long time?
I'd rate it a 3/10.
Oh well, at least someone liked it.

I'm with you screamtrilogy1 I was very suprised with this films after hearing so many negative things about this film I didnt really exspect to much from it when I rented it from the local store. but i know think it is one of the best recent slashers out there and am thinking about buying it a class film with a very clever twist. :)

I really like Valentine....but for all the wrong reasons. As an example of incompetant horror filmmaking, it's like a virtual guidebook. The first time I saw it, I really disliked it. It wasn't suspenseful and there weren't even any decent fake scares. But I watched it a few more times (usually at parties with too much beer) and really began to enjoy it. So I actually wound up buying it. I can appreciate what it set out to do (deliver an old-school slasher) and that some characters die before you expect them to. But it was just so....blah. I didn't really care for any of the characters. The spooky ending was good; I understood what went on, and if you watch the film again SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER, there seem to be subtle hints that David Boreanaz and Jessica Capshaw were actually working together, and he just double-crossed her at the end, letting her take the fall for everything.

I remember seeing this movie in the theatre and not being too disappointed by it. I was expecting a lot worse but overall I remember giving it a seven out of ten. I'm sure a sequel (probably direct to video) is not out of the question. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I really thought this movie was well, quite dull and unentertaining.

Disregard my last post from six years ago. I just rewatched Valentine for the first time since it hit theatres eight years ago and it was quite the disappointment. Not exactly a horrible film but very dull with no interesting characters. How could there not be any nudity here? Denise Richards teased us unfortunately. It sucks because this movie should have really turned out a lot better. The kills were decent enough but there really was zero chemistry between any of the friends in the film. What the hell ever happened to the cop? His character just gets dropped during the finale. Too bad it wasn't as good as I remembered it. Funny how you remember things differently from when you were younger. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I'm thinking that same thing of remembering things differently more and more on these boards haha...everytime I see an old post of mine I tend to sit here and go "wow I said that?i liked that?I hated that?".
Still thought this movie had alot going for it to be really fun and just failed though. For its kind it had a really solid and good cast but nothing in the writing or direction worked.

I'm the same way, I cannot even tell you guys how many times I've looked back on my older posts (sometimes from as soon as a week ago.) and just feel completely embarrased for myself.
Like that one time that I said that I said that Diary of the Dead was better than Land of the dead. I must have been really wasted when I wrote that. ;)

Yeah a few times I felt quite dumb and idiotic haha, but in general its pretty crazy/interesting to see how much we change our minds and views etc.,

Another pointless slasher riding on the success of Scream's coat tails. Extremely bland, forgettable, and by-the-numbers slasher. The only saving grace was seeing Denise Richards in that lovely black bikini. Skip this piece of shit.

Hmm, been awhile since I've watched this one, but I remember the detective being found dead in the fish pond, not just totally dropped out of the story. I enjoyed the movie, but would've liked it better if it would have followed the old school, Tom Savini style slashers with the gore.

Eh, I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. It was just okay. Although I remember the ending confusing me a bit. But meh. Pretty forgettable but diverting.

1/10 and I'm being very generous with that rating.
Easily of the most forgettable films I've ever seen. Almost bad enough to be labeled a waste of film. This was one of those movies I saw when it came out on DVD and washed my eyes out with bleach afterwards.
