No, Countingdown.com has it down that it is just a rumor that has been denied. I did read there that Anthony Hopkins is going to play Jor-El and that sounds good to me.

Right now the only thing that has me a little scared is the script. There have been numerous reports that the script is very campy and very tongue in cheek. I have heard that it is going to strictly be a family film aiming for a “PG” rating. Hopefully all of this is just rumor, but then again it could be true about the campiness because McG did help write it http://www.joblo.com/ubb/mad.gif

Nevermind that question, everyone's reporting it already...And while I loved Charlie's Angels, I'm still extremely glad about this director change, McG totally wouldn't have fit the whole Superman-thing.

Personally I want to see RED DRAGON before even saying if I think Brett Ratner is a good choice for director. Once I make myself an opinion on that subject, I'll wait to hear about the story and villain(s)...and then I'll decide what to think about the whole thing.

I should have stayed out of this thread!! The only thing that scares me worse than Kanunu playing Superman is Brendan Fucking Fraser playing Superman. Get somebody out of the local mental institution to play him. Anybody would be better than either of these two "thespians".

I can say with pretty high certainty that this is just a rumour, it'll never happen. There were also pretty percistant rumours about Colin Farrell being Batman a while back, and the man himself had no idea he got the role. This is just a rumour, at this stage, they're just tossing around names of half Hollywood...And Ratner said he'd rather cast an unknown, so I think it's pretty safe that Keanu will not play the role.

because Superman is raised as an average kid in the midwest and Keanu Reeves looks hawaiian. There is no way a hawaiian Clark Kent could blend in. i already said that.

That's probably the most lucid picture I've ever seen of Kanunu. The guy is dumb as a box of rocks. I've seen him act, that's how I know he wouldn't make a good Superman.
