Would you show your children the Classic Trilogy before the Prequal Trilogy? like we had to watch them, or the Prequal Trilogy then the Classic as the story is told?

I'd show it to them like we saw 'em. I want my kids to laugh as they see Chewbacca in A NEW HOPE. I want 'em to not believe Vader when he tells Luke he's his father in EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. I want them to cry and not understand when Yoda confirms this and when Luke learns Leia's his sister in RETURN OF THE JEDI.

And then I want to take 'em against me and ask them: "If you liked these stories, next week we can see how Luke's daddy became a bad guy", and see 'em yell "oh yeah!", and then watch the New Trilogy with them and watch them understand as I do.

(That's a "ORIGINAL TRILOGY before NEW TRILOGY answer, sir...got a little poetic there. :p )

I would do the opposite of James Logan. I would show them Episodes 1, 2, and 3 before the later ones. I think the ultimate journey of the SW trilogy will be Anakin's. A cute boy to an evil dark warrior to, finally, a man redeemed by his son. That order will give the most emotional punch to the Star Wars film. That is what I think.

I would show them the prequel trilogy first so they could get TPM and Jar Jar over with...;)

In all seriousness I would still show them the Prequel Trilogy first...

Aw c'mon! If you that, you'll spoil the whole "No, I'm your father" fun and chills for 'em! :D

I'd show them in order, 1-6. Let them see how it happened, and how even the best people fall to evil. And then they can be redeemed. "That is the way of things...the way of the force."

Really, you can't go wrong either way, in my opinion.

Personally, I would show Episodes 4-6 before 1-3, because i know that it would emotionaly work for future generations, because it worked for us and others. As long as you don't screw the order up, showing episode 1, then episode 3, then 5 then ect.... The more films there are, the easier it is for someone to loose interest when they are confused with the orders...

Well I'd rather show them 4-6 due to the greatness of them. But if my kids are like me, they'll be fucking confused. So then I would want to show them 1-3. but er...

I would go with 4-6...

You have to show 4-6 first. All the emotional impact and surprise is gone if you show the prequels first. Logan is right!

Logan is absolutely right (and damn charming, isn't he? :) ). My children will see Episodes 4-6 first, no questions asked.

Well, to go along w/ Logan's idea. I have shown my son the first three first. Then we showed him A Phantom Menace and then Attack of the Clones. He is too young to really register any shock value from the 'I am your father' revelation (he started watching them when he was 11/2...you just can't deprive them) but he sure likes saying 'that's Darth Vader as a little boy' when you talk about Phantom Menace so it's really cool.

Show them the way I saw them - Eps 4-6 before 1-3. Makes the whole experience so much more interesting........

I would show them 4-6 and then 1-3. Sadly 1-6 could only work to fans, people who had seen the movies - the big cinematic power of the original trilogy came from learning about Vader and the others. With the new trilogy signposting all these truths in true join-the-dots Lucas style, the original trilogy would be a tiresome trudge. I mean had I seen the new ones first, I'd be wondering why Luke and Leia kissed, wondering why Luke didn't know about his Father, simply waiting around for these characters to catch on. It would make me so impatient.

Plus, a lot of the original trilogy is referencing the originals - references that would be totally lost on first-timers. While all the fans "ooh"d at seeing the Death Star plans, the new people doubless wondered what was so damned special about a big red circle.

Ignore continuity - watch them properly. The original trilogies are, after all, better... but that's an opinion, I don't want to start you lot off on THAT one.

i think i will just show my kids 4-6 and try to avoid the prequels...

nah i think u gotta show the original trilogy first.

i take the view that they were made in that order and will probably make a lot more sense if watched 4 5 6 1 2 3.

then put 5 on again to marvel at just how good it is.

I would definatly show them 4-6 first. As has been said already in here, I think thats the best way to get the full emotional impact of the movies.

Definetely Episodes 4-6 first. I want them to experience the shock of Vader being Luke's father. Then when they have been properly exposed, unleash the awesome special effects of 1-3 on them. They will appreciate it later on.

I think there's more depth when you watch the Prequels first. Also, there will be more resonance with Vader's death. Therefore, my kids will watch 'em in order, I - VI.

Of course, if I pop out a few too many, I might try an experiment, with them watching I, IV, II, V, III, VI. Seriously, I've been thinking, and watching them that way adds quite a bit of shock, methinks.

Kids must watch 4,5 and 6 and THEN 1,2 and 3. The prequels are techinically sequels but they are set before the first ones. A cool thing about the prequels is that you can spot and follow certain things that are in and lead upto the origianl trilogy.

I'd make them do it like I did. It kind of ruins the whole surprise of Vader telling Luke the big secret and all.

It seems most people think that Vader's revelation is the foundation on which Star Wars is based. The films run just find, even if you know Darth Vader is actually Anakin Skywalker. Plus, there's a good chance your kids will hear about it before they see The Empire Strikes Back :p
