There is a God and he loves me. This is great news!

WB strongly wants the movie to be filmed in England and Canada and McG said he will not spend six or seven months filming in England and Canada for this movie. So between all the fans against McG as director and McG refusing to film where they want the WB decided to dump him as director. *Cheers*

Here is a list of possible Directors the WB is currently considering:
Richard Donner
Brett Ratner
Michael Mann
Rob Bowman
Stephen Sommers
Stephen Hopkins
Kevin Reynolds
Robert Rodriguez
Steven Soderberg

Any of those directors are a much better choice then McG, I personally hope Richard Donner gets it and second up would be Michael Mann. Either way my faith in this movie has been restored.

Also John Peters is officially off this movie. He is now working on a remake of the Blob. The producers of Harry Potter, Lord Of The Rings, and The Matrix will replace him. The news just keeps getting better and better.

Phew,at least now we at least won't have to suffer through a blatant Drew Barrymore cameo, and the rest of his buddies.

Mann would be first choice, then Soderbergh(although he would probably want Roberts involved in some way),then Rodriguez(he has that irepressible manic energy thing going on that this needs to seperate it from the 70's 80's versions).

Personally iw ould go with Jean Pierre Jeunet(Amelie,City of Lost Children,Alien Resurrection)).He would definitely bring his unique visual style, excellent storytelling ability, and his uncanny ability to flesh out even superficial characters,to the proceedings.Plus he has alreadt proved he can do action and he knows how to utilize special effects in grand style.

I don't want to see some Hollywood insider Golden Boy directing, this needs something just a bit different,it needs a European flare, just like Resident Evil before it.

Excuse my ignorance, but who's McG?

From the list of possibles you posted, I'd like to see Mann direct it. Luis Guzmán as the Man of Steel just doesn't appeal to me, so I really hope Soderbergh doesn't direct it (or anything else)

I'd like to see Fincher direct it, cos he's just super.

Thank the heavans above!!!!I would like to see Richard Donner film Superman, heck I wouldn't mind Alexander Salkind - if he's still alive. Just for a twist, how about George Lucas, come'on guys give it up for Lucas!!!!

No, that's OK. I think I'll pass.

Out of all of the choices listed above, I would agree with Silverload and say Richard Donner first (he could do it after he finishes Timeline!) and Michael Mann second. Soderbergh would make it all weird and experimental and have George Clooney as Superman and *shudders* Julia Roberts as Lois Lane.

I bet the WB does want one of them. That reads like a list of the best directors working today of that list, I'd go with Stephen Sommers. He directed "The Mummy" series and I want to Superman to be like them. A big ol' campy action film with cool effects.

P.S. I notice that Tim Burton is not on that list! I hate the WB for stopping him and Cage from making their film. It surely would have been great.

Double P.S. If Soderbergh gets it he will make a good film. He will not make Guzman Supes. He'd probably opt for either Matt Damon or Brad Pitt.

Triple P.S. As for Mann...NO!!!!!!!!! He will make it a big character study of Clark Kent. That would be boring, I want camp and action.

Quadruple P.S. This is the last one, I promise. I think Kevin Costner could direct it. I think he is a great director that makes fun movies. Just as long as he does not cast himself.

I would personally like to see a new more "dark" or "Gloomy" Superman flick. With Superman wearing different colors(black and Grey come to mind) and sporting a rough, more outcast type look instead of his usual clean cut self. Maybe long hair and 5:00 shadow. Any director who would dare to do that has my vote.

Just bring back Tim Burton for Chrissakes!

I know it'd never happen, but I think it'd be cool, in a Tyler-kinda-way, if Richard Kelly wrote/directed a Superman movie.

sorry for repeaing myself, but who's this "McG" you all hate so much?

Why the hell does Hollywood like McG anyway ? He was a MUSIC VIDEO director, can they get that through their thick skulls ?

Not no, but Hell No. If that happened to Superman I would be pissed. In fact at one time they did consider having Superman wear all black and be darker and more violent because people are so into that. Superman fans were mad as hell at the thought of having a Superman like that, thank god they decided not to do it (at least I hope they stick with that decision).

If the movie were made like that it would not be Superman. If someone wants a dark dirty “noir” type of comic movie just take your pick out of the many comics out there like that, but leave Superman the hell alone. This movie needs to be faithful to the comic. If you are not going to be faithful to the comic and decide to change something as drastic as Superman’s entire image what would be the point of making a movie from the comic? Superman is the clean cut, nice guy, boy scout. That is his image, if you want a dark and gloomy image take a look at the Batman comics.

Well, the "rock video look" has been in vouge for awhile now! Just look at how well Michael Bay's films do! Anyways I don't know who's gonna take over Superman, but at the very worst it won't be an embarrassment!

And now...for some shocking, yet decent news courtesy of Dark Horizons.com last Thursday:

Superman Lives: Cinescape talked with Director McG whose not off the project as recent rumours have suggested - "Superman is looking good. I have seen a draft of the script, which I could not possibly be more enthusiastic about. That is ideally the next picture - right after Charlie's Angels 2 to go right into Superman". Whereas details of the story within J.J. Abrams acclaimed draft have remained top secret, McG finally revealed one hint - "It’s a genesis story and it tells the story of Superman from day one - Krypton, Smallville - all the way through, the whole nine yards...Right now, my energy is going into the one Superman genesis story, because no one has seen it since the [Richard] Donner pictures in the ’70s, and that was sort of in a pre-ILM world. I want to have the opportunity to introduce a Superman that takes advantage of the visual effects that we have at our disposal at this time". Thanks to 'FanHalen' & 'Captain Howdy'

You should go to Dark Horizons.com now. Here is the currant article:

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">
Superman Lives: LatinoReview interviewed Director Brett Ratner this past weekend during the NYC junket for "Red Dragon" and a lot of talk turned toward "Superman". Despite McG's comments last week, Ratner says Supes is "definitely next for me" and when asked what he'd like to do with the franchise he said "That's what I see. I see a guy flying through the air in a blue and red suit. Again it's in the script. J.J. Abrams delivered a fucking amazing script and that's why I'm doing it". Will Anthony Hopkins be Jor-El? Ratner said "I want him to be if he'll do it", whilst Hopkins later said "Yeah, I'm going to do it. I'd love to do it". Pre-production has just begun with shooting to start in about nine months, whilst Friday's rumours that Keanu Reeves ("The Matrix") was tipped to play the famed Kryptonian have been debunked by Ratner. Thanks to 'Kellvin', 'Anthony' & 'WMF'. </font>
