i thought that the family came foward after the movie was made and admitted to it being a hoax? well thats what i heard.

I've heard the same Steve. Though their claims were based on a factual backstory; one I unfortunately can't remember :(.

May I comment? I believe the killings that were covered in the 2nd instalment really happened (that much is proven - minus the demonic element), but after all the controversy I don't really believe the events that were portrayed in the first film really happened.

I've always been convinced Mr. Lutz got into some money trouble and cooked up the "devil house" story to sell books and make a profit off movie rights.
