The Odeon Cinema chain has officialy announced that CoS is 178 minutes long. I am glad the WB has realized kids can sit that long. :)

That kicks ass! I'm so happy now. I'm glad they didn't make it the same length as HPATSS just so little kids will be able to sit through it...

Wow. The longest kids movie of all time. I can see a running time of this length possibly impacting the box office, one less showing per day, maybe not as much repeat business.

On the other hand, the additional time should make for a much better movie, giving the story time to develop. There goes my 32-oz coke and popcorn, going to have to go cold turkey for this one now.

I do not think it will affect the box office terribly. I mean LOTR was 178 minutes(or thereabout) and it made a lot of money. Most theatres will have this on three or more screens, so there won't be any missed showings. And if someone really likes the film or loves Potter(like me) it will not matter how long the film is. I will probably see this about 8 times like I did for SS.

Me too. I just wish I could cram a few cans of Coca Cola into my wallet. Ah woman are so lucky. There purses hold so much, while us men have wallets and pockets. :(

178 minutes?? COOL! It means they've covered most parts of the book and still managed to make a good movie which takes its time to build the story. Personally I don't mind the long running time but there are many people who does, especially after audiences getting used to 80-90 minutes movies. I really hope it will not affect the box-office. But I think it will.

It should open spectacularly, though. Even if it's 250 mins.

I just learned this is not entirely correct. Odeon Cinema's running time includes all the trailers and commercials. It appears CoS alone is only 155 minutes. It will still be great.

It is exciting that CoS reviews will be popping up soon. Damn, I want to be a critic. Seeing CoS in like one week would be plain wonderful.

155 minutes WILL BE great. And it should be fair enough to the story. Though I would personally love it to be 170-180 minutes. It would mean more time to be spent re-watching this either in theatres or on DVD.

I am thinking PoA will may be that long. Yes CoS will rock and I cannot wait. Why does 29 days always seem so far away to me???

The film is 160 minutes 40 seconds long. Thats from bbfc.co.uk, and it will be right because they are a pedantic lot.
