I posted this ages ago but no-one showed any interest in it so let's see what you all think NOW...

David Mamet is making his own version of "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" which to me sounds pretty awesome BUT WAIT it gets better... Jude Law has been cast in the title role! It will also star Penelope Cruz of all people as his laboratory assistant and Mr Mamet's wife Rebecca Pidgeon in a role named "Margaret Price". Now if that doesn't get you drooling at the mouth then nothing will!

Sounds like it could be quite good. I'll probably go see it when it comes out. Not too keen on Penelope Cruz, though.

Mamet could remake BATTLEFIELD: EARTH, and I'd be there.

The man is a screenwriting genius, and I'm looking forward to his Jekyll & Hyde take with great anticipation.

Just a thought on Mamet:

Mamet is not a screenwriting god. He is a playwriting god who adapts his work to the silver screen. I AM NOT saying he makes bad movies. I love his movies. I own every movie he has made.

But, if you want to taste TRUE Mamet, read his plays. I work in theatre industry and we absolutely adore him. To the theatre industry, he is akin to Shakespeare. But not because of his movies.

His movies aren't a good representation of what David Mamet can really do. His movies don't have the same emotions as his plays.

Go see a live stage play of Mamet's and tell me if you see the difference. The writing is more dramatic.

Love his movies though. Love his plays more.

I'M not sold! His wife is a HORRIBLE actress! I'll see it anyway, and my opinion may change once I see a trailer, but I HATED (and I mean that) Heist. Oleanna, State and Main and The Spanish Prisoner weren't that great either, in my opinion, and The ONLY Mamet movies I have hope for are Glengarry Glen Ross, House of Games, and Homicide, and maybe that's because he only wrote the screenplay for them. Oh, and I loved The Edge, and The Untouchables.
