I just love how over 20 years later, the FRIDAY franchise is still alive and kicking, and depending on who you talk to, better than ever. Who would have thought that JASON X, essentially FRIDAY 10, would be the first movie EVER to be completely processed digitally on film, thus giving it the slickest, coolest look any movie has ever had. Watching JASON X on DVD is amazing, everything is so godamn sharp and clear, no grain, perfect colors...ah! And it's a freakin JASON MOVIE! who would have thought? Jason is now the model for state of the art technology in motion pictures. 10 years from now, when digital processing becomes the norm and every movie is done that way, people will look back and say; Jason X was the first movie to introduce it! And wether or not you like Jason X, my personal thoughts are that it kicks ass on so many levels. Great story, action, gore, music, just an example of Jason at the top of his game. And the fact that a FRIDAY 10 is STILL IN THEATERS(!!!) is proof that Jason has staying power. If only this kind of "rescue" could have been given to Hellraiser before he hit direct-to-video. I hope it isn't too late for Michael Myers...

I agree, the DVD looks great. Even though this movie didn`t perform too great in theaters, I believe in a few years or so it`ll be a "cult classic".

Jason X was an excellent film. Jason in the future creating bloody carnage in space was the most inventive and creative concept that had been brought to the franchise in a very long time. I absouloutely loved it.
(Warning possible spoiler)
After Freddy Vs. Jason I hope they do another sequel, hopefully continuing with Jason on the new earth.

Wow, what can I add to that? Well said, and I agree completely man. Jason was truly in his element in this film and it shows. The effects, story, etc, were all top-notch imo.

I think the thing to remember when watching these films is that they are for entertainment. They are not making these films in order to win an Oscar. Any movie with a body count of around 26, you know you are going to enjoy it and that's exactly what Jason X did. Groovy kills, a kick-ass villian, hot chicks.....this movie has it all. Really hope they get past Jason vs. Freddy and movie right onto Jason XI. I also just picked up Jason X on DVD and was blown away, this is what a DVD should be like, too bad Paramount couldn't get some advice from New Line on how to release a DVD.

Yeah, the transfer is crisp and immaculate. Perhaps Paramount will compare the sales of Jason X to the sales of The New Blood. They just might say to themselves, "Hmm, these statistics indicate that we are, in fact, fucking idiots." Oh, and the two documentaries are delicious, too! They even brought Joe Bob Briggs in to comment on the F13 franchise! How can any genre fan resist that??????

Yeah, I also agree that the documentaries kick ass. It was so weired to watch a docu on Jason, because I'm just not used to that! I'm accustome to Paramounts bare bones, so to watch a loaded DVD by New Line was killer! And I also agree that, within a few years, JASON X will become a cult classic. Many movies find an audience on home video.:D

Odd. The ratio of copies of Jason X to the copies of Jason Goes to Hell was the same at my Best Buy. Well, at least people are grabbing up Jason X. Paramount will learn how to create quality DVDs the hard way.

Jason X was such a waste of film, its a disgrace to the Ft13th franchise. They sent Jason to FRICKIN SPACE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! What's gonna be next, Jason in the Hood?!?! Combine that with a horrible script, terrible acting with dumb one-liners (the android bitch was most annoying), and some blah kills and you have a shitty movie. Sorry if I offended anyone, its just my opinion after all.

Deep Blue sea, shame on you. Jason x was not a waste at all, but mindless fun.

Staying power? They better hope FvsJ does good or Jason is gone.

Jason X came in third at the box office on it's opening weekend. But that, Scorpion King and Ice Age were wiped off the baord with the release of Spiderman and Star Wars.

I'm trash, cause I despise a movie? :p
I thought the movie was the biggest insult to the series and just an insult to the horror franchise. And it's not really my fault that it bombed, who wants to see a tired 80's slasher in space:p :p

Ugh.. I get the feeling that certain individuals here have little respect for the opinions of others. You like Jason X? Cool, that's your opinion. Don't harass others if they feel differently Didn't like it? Say so, say why, but keep your points relevant; don't write something entirely unproductive to what your trying to say.

10-19-2002, 12:37 PM
Okay, i am sorry i insulted Myers but saying it that he or she was glad it bombed made me mad. And for the last time, Halloween resurrection had almost no plot! At least Jason x had one even if some people thought it was dumb. Michael myers goes to his house cause some kids are doing a webcast in it...oh my god! how stupid, Michael go and kill your nephew man not some a-hole teens in your house.Peace out...

I can't wait for Freddy vs. Jason, i have been waiting years for it. Hopefully it will be good and this Ken guy does good as Jason.

jonknight, what was Jason X's plot? He gets frozen, goes to space...kills? That's AMAZING. Yeah right. Did you NOT miss Laurie Strode:
SPOILERS
Getting killed?
END SPOILERS
That part alone blew away Jason X. And considering that he just did taht with his sister, his biggest victim to date, he just went home after, and guess what! His house was full of teens. What was he supposed to do? "Yeah, stay eat a cookie." NO! he killed them. What's the problem? THe plot at least had some characters whome you knew there name walking out. That's at least a plus.

The first 10 mins. of Resurrection were great but the rest were okay cause of the no plot. Myersfan they could of done better with the story after the whole Michael finally getting what he wanted deal. I really hated Halloween H20(it's cause of the scream like vibe) and i am glad Resurrection was better(h20 had a better story though). Jason x was better than Leprechaun 4 and Hellraiser 4 plus i am a huge Jason fan.Michael myers almost died on me after the horrible Halloween 5 and 7.To me Halloween 1,2.4 and 8 were the best.(6 is okay). It'snt it time Michael Myers dies like the others.Hopefully Halloween 9 will end the series in peace.

I think you have"Jason X"confused with"Halloween:Resurrection".
myersfan31
10-19-2002, 02:23 PM
Well I like H20 MUCH better then Resurrection, but I like it too. Seriously though Jason X had NO plot and was just a waste of room. Would I like Halloween 9 to be the last? Sure. You know why? Because I don't want the series to go to trash like Jason X did.

In your opinion. It is not up to you or me to deem either film as superior. It's arbitrary, word against word, opinion against opinion.
Halloween: Resurrection is not better than Jason X; Jason X is not better than Halloween Resurrection.
This ''my series'' is better than ''your series'' mentality irritates me...

Well obviously everything is an opinon, that doesn't mean you can't argue:rolleyes:
Jason Voorhees

Sure, but why argue over it? Nobody here is going to change their mind about either film.. but hey, if fruitlessly endeavoring to change somebody's opinion rather than tolerating it makes you happy: then have fun.
I don't really care, I just think there are more productive things to do. Oh well, people feel how they feel; it's not like I'm always right, and I'm done with this thread.
