wow. I saw this opening night ..man o man did it shit on Hannibal. in my opinion, Red Dragon was just as good as Silence of the Lambs. & people tell me that they're going to make a movie of Lectors child hood ..that'd be great. RECOMMENDED TO EVERYBODY.

Tell me about it! "Red Dragon" is, to me, the most disturbing film this year. I actually didn't like "Silence of The Lambs" much (I saw it on TV), and I enjoyed "Hannibal," but I was surprisingly able to be thrilled by "Red Dragon" as a stand-alone and "direct" prequel to "Lambs."

Red Dragon was good, it had a good story but that was a given. One thing that disappointed me was that I was expecting something different then Manhunter, I remember Brett Ratner kept talking about how it was going to be soo different then Manhunter and as it turns out Red Dragon only had different beginning and end. Everything else looked liked it was copied directly from Manhunter. I mean copied by a lot of the scenes were filmed exactly as Michael Mann filmed it for Manhunter. Ratner just copied Mann on many shots. This movie reminded me of the Psycho remake, why bother if you are just going to copy what was done before.

I know both films are based off of the same book, thus giving them the same story, but a good director would have told the story in a fresh perspective instead of trying to stand on the shoulders of a great director and be a copy cat.

Red Dragon – 6/10
Manhunter – 9/10

I also thought MANHUTNER was better. RED DRAGON was purely made to make money off the Hannibal Lecter character, and while it had it's moments, it's inferior to MANHUNTER.
