Lots of us I'm sure have seen it. It's an all-time classic quite simply. And I don't know about anyone else, but the second time I watched it, it even got better.

This film is the absolute best slasher film of all time, and is also one of my top 5 favorite films of all time! Black Christmas is THE immortal classic! This film even beats out Halloween in my opinion! The phone calls are some of the freakiest things I've ever heard, and the ending is superb. This is a very scary masterpiece! On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a solid 5 all the way!

BLACK CHRISTMAS is one of the few horror movies that I actually give 4 out of 4 stars to! This movie is great from beginning to end - and the phone calls from the killer are among the creepiest scenes ever filmed. By the way - here's a little cinema trivia for you: Bob Clark III was the director of this yuletide Christmas tale. He was also the director of another Christmas classic: "A Christmas Story," the movie in which little Ralphie wants a Red Rider BB Gun and gets a full body suit of pink bunny fur.

What happened in Bob Clark's past that screwed up his Christmases for life?

Okay, I have to go against the grain, I didn't like Black Christmas. The phone calls was scary as all hell, but...

A story, is supposed to have a beginning, a middle, and an end. This movie has a beginning a middle and a what the hell? I'm not sure why any of this happened, and it does matter to me. But, all that aside this really is a scary one.

Aside from directing Black Cbristmas and A Christmas Story, Bob Clark also directed the first two Porky's movies. Is this guy is some kind of mad kcufing genius or what?

I like Black Christmas and I cannot wait to get the DVD soon. I never got the ending until I watched it a few times, then everything starts to make sense.

I saw that. It was pretty creepy with all the phone calls and then the cops find out the phone calls are coming from the house the girls were at. Another good horror film that has a good creepy tone is the Sentiel. And even Chistopher Walken had a TINY ass part like 2 sentences. It was a 1976 film, but it was cool.

Also....If you liked Black Christmas, check out When a Stranger Calls. If you thought the phone calls in BC were creepy, wait to you see this.

Black Xmas was CREEPY! I watched it with my friends and I was cringing.

When A Stranger Calls has one of the best intros, but it was a pretty lame movie.

Black Christmas is great. The Canadian dvd is not bad. Nice transfer, trailer and two short John Saxon interviews. Worth picking up.

BLACK CHRISTMAS (1975) Directed by Bob Clark (“Porky’s”). Predating “Halloween” by a couple of years, “Black Christmas” was the first slasher flick to feature a holiday-themed murder spree. The story centers around a group of sorority sisters menaced by an obscene phone-caller, who subsequently murders them in stylishly gruesome manners on Christmas Eve. The top-notch, all-star cast includes: Olivia Hussey (“Romeo and Juliet”) as the not-so-innocent heroine; Keir Dullea (“2001: A Space Odyssey”) as her disturbed musician boyfriend; the great John Saxon (“A Nightmare On Elm Street”) as the detective on the case; Lynne Griffin and Andrea Martin as two of the sorority innocents; Art Hindle as Griffin’s clueless boyfriend; Marian Waldman as the alcoholic house mother; and last, but certainly not least...Margot Kidder (“Sisters”), who steals the show as the boozy, foul-mouthed Barb, who gives the crank caller an obscene dose of his own bloody medicine. This atmospheric fright fest boasts excellent characterizations, and really packs a wallop in the suspense department. Scariest scene: the killer’s deranged, watchful eye staring at Hussey through a slightly ajar door! The phone calls are also genuinely disturbing. Simply the best holiday horror ever! My grade: A

I've only seen this movie once and I always remember it leaving an impression on me. I loved the ending and thought it was a perfect example of why the horror genre reigned surpreme in the 80's.

Btw...hello you know who.

teenkiller... Like you I wasn't too familiar with this film until checking out these boards. Well after the hype I picked it up at Best Buy and was very impressed. This was a great horror film. It is wonderful to run across films you've overlooked, all thanks to this board.

BTW, same thing with Ginger Snaps. Would've never known about it without this board. Thanks everyone. Any other recommendationa?

I'm with goblyn on this one. I watched it because everyone here was giving it 12 on a scale of 5. But I didn't like it at all. The phone calls were creepy but that's about all I could take away.

Quite simply, a classic!

No christmas is complete without it, and if you'll excuse me, I'm off to see if I can find me a copy on DVD from somewhere!
