I guess this isnt really a movie, but this is the best place to talk about it...lol
I watched 'Stephen King's It' for the 1st time over the weekend (i know- i couldnt believe i hadnt seen it either...lol), and i really liked it!!!
i know the acting is terrible, and the dialogue is unbelievabley corny, and that Beverley chick is basically a wannabe slut (did u see her tonging that Bill guy?! WTF?! is that how everyone else greets there old friends?! lol)
But i did really dig it- i love Tim Curry as the very freaky 'Pennywise' (ive always hated clowns, and never really had a reason; until now!) and i love the symbolism- u dont normally get those sorts of semiotics in a cheesy horror mini series- the thing with the colours and the balloons is excellent, and the score was pretty chilling.
so what do u guys think? anyone love it or hate it? or feel indifferent about it?

I love this movie!! I bought it a while back for like 10 bucks! Great deal for a great movie! I'm a huge fan of Stephen King's books and movie adaptations anyhoo, but this one was was awesome... except for that WTF ending. That still pisses me off...

The first time I saw it, I gotta say that I really liked it. It's true Tim Curry is on in the clown outfit but the rest of the actor could kiss my ass since they act a shit! But except that, I thought the was really cool! So I rent the book and guess what???? I had this huge feeling of loathing that came into my throat just to think how
much they have shattered the book with the damm movie. If it would have been donethe way the book was it would have a thousand times better than what they did.
But if you never red the Stephen king's novel, the movie is good.

The only hight point, and I mean the ONLY high point, to this movie is Tim Curry as Pennywise. The acting is mostly horrible, the dialogue sucks ass, the scares are inexistent, and the the ending...what was up with that? I think the other Stephen King miniseres, "The Stand," is much better than "It".
I saw this a while back and decided to read book after. Now while the film freaked, the book is definitely one beyond! I found it hard reading it cause where Pennywise comes across quite comically in the film, he is pure evil in the book, it's just freaky and very scary (I know it's a book, but I'm telling you!) although it may have been that i had seen it and so had this image of Pennywise in my head as I was reading it. damn that clown freaks me out!!

I didn't like it that much, because it was made for t.v. Sure, there was a couple of really good parts, but half of the book is not in the movie. The book was way better and I thought they could of done a better job with the movie! /ubb/smile.gif

Tim Curry's Pennywise character is perhaps the scariest clown this side of Cheezo in CLOWNHOUSE.

I read the book as well and found it better. Unfortunately the film was a made for t.v. movie (NBC or ABC or somethin' like that). The storyline had to be toned down for the younger audience. I just bought a copy because it has been re-released as a single cassette edition. It was still a moving movie though, I have a friend who saw it at a younger age and avoids the movie like the plague. I think the movie should be remade, I'll put that as a topic.

I didn't hink it was very good. A rather weak made for TV adaptation of the book, which was a good litle read. Even if I hadn't read the book I still don't think I would have liked the TV movie very much. It was kind of flat and dull, like most TV movies.

IT remains one of my favorite King movies. And, by the way, King's made-for-TV movies are usually better than the theater interpretations of his stories. My favs still are The Shining (1990's remake), Salem's Lot, The Stand, and Storm of the Century.
Yes, the first time I saw the ending of IT, I said ??? to myself. Then I read the ending of the book in Walden Books, and found that it was exactly the same as the movie. Afterwards I just came to accept that [SPOILER] the killer is an alien spider with the ability to project Penneywise into the minds of its victims.

I liked the book, and the tv movie was an ok watch but I really wish that it was not a tv movie. It would have been better and more gory if it was a movie~movie!!

Thought I would BUMP this topic seeing as how a similar topic was recently closed. Tim Curry I must agree ruled as Pennywise. The movie is good, but the book is fucking awesome. Pennywise is even better in the book. Even though the book is very huge (1137 pages about) I encourage everyone to read it if you get the chance.

For a network t.v. miniseries it was pretty damn good. Just shut it off about 10 minutes from the end, you'll enjoy it a lot more.
If you want really scary read the book. It's one of King's best.

Y'know, when this came out, I was super excited. 'IT' is one of my favorite books of all time, and definately my favorite King novel.
The movie just made me feel disgusted. Disgusted that such copius and quality material could be made into a stupid, borderline retarded, melodrama. While Curry was good as Pennywise, it doesn't help if to be a diamond in a pool of crap.
Sorry, I just really detest what they did to one my favorite books.

Book was pretty good, the movie sucked.
Yes, the movie did suck, however I'll say one thing in it's defense. It's rather difficult to turn a 1,100 page book into a 4 hr. movie. This isn't a rule etched in stone, but I've found if you want a good book to movie adaptation, you usually need about 1 hr. of movie for every 150-200 pages of book. In this case another 1 1/2-3 hours of movie time would've been necessary. Again, this is just what I've found after watching many movies adapted from books.

which is why they should have left IT alone.

I have seen the movie and I have read the book and i must say that most movie adaptions are let downs if you have read the book before hand. In my opinion they should not have made a movie based on the book. I'm not saying the movie was horrible it was merely so-so but the book on the other hand was steller.
Don't mind the spelling.

While Halloween is my favorite and the scariest movie I've ever seen, Stephen King's IT did the most damage to me. I first saw the film when it was released as a made for TV movie. I was four. I watched it, and it scared the living shit out of me. It was so bad, and my nightmares were so bad, that my mom had to move a second bed into her bedroom for me to sleep in because she was sick of me sleeping in her bed! Now, I can watch it with no problem, but back then, boy was it a big ordeal! Great movie! Am gonna read the 1,000+ page novel when I'm done with Pet Semetary.

You haven't read the book then!! God, when they're 11 and in the sewers, they get lost, and beverley thinks each guy shagging her will "bring them closer". They do it and they get out, but it's pretty sick.
The film rocks. But the book is better. Although there is loads you can skip in the book, cause a lot of it isn'timportant... like whats that shit with the two gay guys? The point was????
