Can he do for Pearl Harbor what Leonardo DiCaprio did for Titanic ??

Well that depends. What do you think Leo did for Titanic? Cuz I don't think Leo didn't do anything to help Titanic. I'm not saying his performance did anything to ruin the movie, but it also really didn't stand out to me at all.

As long as he's not John Travolta bad like in Battlefield Earth, I don't think it matters. Most people are going to go for the action scenes.

Of course Ben Affleck is, he's my favorite actor and if he wasn't in PEARL HARBOR I might not even see it... I think he'll do fine...

yes man, he proved in a old jerry bruckheimer movie(armageddon) that he could play well in an action movie!

confused about the post that Leo did nothing for titanic...the movie sucked, he is what drew all the women in to make it the success it was. Ben will do fine, despite the shite he has been making, he is a great actor. And besides, Pearl Harbor could have had (insert current popular hack here) and it would do great, because it is about PEARL HARBOR. American's will see it in droves.

The movies are totally different.

Actually, the main structure of both Pearl Harbor and Titanic are really not all that different. They have:

1) Famous, tragic events that everyone knows the outcome of already, so there's no surprise about how it's going to turn out.

2) Some kind of romance where one part of the couple dies (Titanic) or could very likely die (Pearl Harbor).

Okay, that's really not much, but it's a safe bet to say that Pearl Harbor and Titanic are more alike than most people think they are.

I think Ben Affleck will be great in "Pearl Harbor". He was great in "Boiler Room" which would take talent to give as great of a performance as he did in it. If he dies at the end it will be better for his character and for him to get award nominations but i hope he lives.

When you put it that way, he might be able to pull it off.

Just as long as he dies. I would definetly pay $10 to see that. Is he the right man for the job? It depends. If the movie is good then he is the wrong man for the job. If the movie blows goats then he will be right at home. Unfortunatly he is playing his most simple role. Hotshot (fill in occupation) who is in love with a girl. He will flash his gleaming white teeth and give the camera that slight smirk that says I know you love me and you know you love me so why don't we just go back to my trailer and . . . SORRY! I have to go take a cold shower now.

leo decrappio only had one part he played well and that was the retard in gilbert grape. titanic sucked. leo sucked. kate winslet sucked. the old broad sucked. the only good actor was that guy from the phantom. and affleck did just fine. the movie was great. but dont many of the glamour shots of affleck and hartlett remind you of the directors other film, Bad Boys?

Seeing now how Pearl Harbor is doing at the box office I guess he wasn't.But let's not blame all this on the poor guy alone.
My opinion is that they went wrong with putting a love story in it because there's no magic between the main characters like there was in Titanic.
There you have it,my two cents /ubb/cool.gif

I think Ben has what it takes to be in a Bruckhimer/Bay movie, but damn well better watch out. Armageddon seemed like good fun, where Pearl Harbor is supposed to be taken a bit seriously. I wish WWII buff speilberg would have made it WITH ben Affleck, and would have actually made him act again instead of just smoulder all the damn time. WHat the hell is that?
