Why is it movies that are very bad(Pearl Harbor regular edition) make so muc money
And good movies(Frailty) make so little?
I am curious about this..
Also, why is it no one sees good films(again Frailty) and every sees bad movies(Freddy Got Fingered)

It depends a movie like Pearl Harbor has mass appeal since it is a movie of one the biggest events of the 20th century. However, if you look at Pearl Harbor most people who saw did not like it while the majority of those who saw Frality enjoyed it. Marketing has a lot to do with it as well. However, Pulp Fiction made 100 million, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was very success, Forrest Gump was huge and Bridge on the River Kwai was the number one film of 1957. Then you look at Adventures of Pluto Nash and that was a complete bomb.

I loved "Pearl Harbor." I think it all comes down to personal prefrence. I can't comment on "Frailty" because I haven't seen it yet.

Maybe it's because not everyone thought it was a bad movie. I personally liked Pearl Harbor a lot. Just because you don't like a movie doesn't mean it's bad.
As for Frailty. I thought it was very good, however, I don't think it got a very wide release which could have led to it not making very much money. Or maybe people just didn't feel like watching it. Who knows?

I have absolutely no idea. "Frailty" was such a good movie and hardly anybody saw it.

I believe that it is in marketing. I remember seenig around 8 million commercials for Pearl Harbor, but don't remember seeing much for Fraility. TV, Radio, Billboards, Word of Mouth, The Content of Movie, all these factors effect how well the movie is going to do.
Plus, Ben Affleck is one of the best leading men in the industry. Just his name probably attracted lots of people to the movie.

It's because people are stupid. That's why everyone does everything. (little simpsons quote there, feel free to use that one)

Indeed. They usually have Michael Bay's name attached and are released in the summer.

ill tell ya, i enjoyed PEARL HARBOR alot, it is one of my girlfriends favorite flicks.... i bought the 60th anniversary 2 disk dvd set for her last year for x-mas, and when the R rated 4 disk vista series came out, i bought that for myself. great flick.
BUT FRAILTY is by far my favorite horror movie, i loved it in the theatres and i loved in on video. i have to admit tho, from the commericals, i wasnt expecting much, BUT lucky for me the night we went to see CHANGING LANES (i also enjoyed alot) it was sold out, so we saw FRAILTY insted, and i am very glad we did!

Frailty was incredible. Strange, I heard it had the highest budget of any Lions Gate film to date. Twenty million that is. Makes me wonder why some of that money wasn't spent on making this movie more well known before it was released. I only seen trailers of this film about twice. Sad.
I made my family watch it. They very much enjoyed it. Never heard a flaw about this movie thus far.

ALL movies that are produced and distributed to/displayed in a venue that charges admission (movie theatres) are intended to "make money."
Nobody - I mean nobody - spends hundreds of thousands or hundreds of millions of dollars to produce a movie just to show it in his or her living room to party guests.
In fact, even the "art" movies hope to make enough money to recoup expenditures or even turn a profit.
To say that people should ONLY make movies for the love of it or the "art" of it is somewhat naive and unrealistic.
Even Da Vinci and Michaelangelo needed sponsors.

It all about what movie projects will make the big bucks!!! Lately Hollwood is on the remakes, sequels & adaptations bandwagon beacuse these are venues that will bring people to the box office to see them! As for the talk about Pearl Harbor the scence where the japanese planes are invading Pearl Harbor was awesome. As to the sappy love triangle story ruined the whole movie IMO.
