Which young actress gave the best performances here? One film pre-16 yrs.old, one after. These are the roles that I think they each shined in the most.
Who was best in their "Double Play"?

Natalie Portman was great in The Professional so she's my pick.

Understood, but, I'm talking about the strength of BOTH roles combined.
Portman was excellent in "The Professional", no doubt. But, combined with her pef in "Anywhere But Here", is it stronger than the other four offerings?

Kirsten Dunst prooved she's an incredable actress with her performance in "The Virgin Sucides."

Well, Kirsten Dunst, but if would've add Beautiful Girls to Natalie Portman's list and taken of Anywhere But Here, she would definitely be my winner :)

Two excellent performances!

All of the ladies on the list are great actresses, but my pick is Reese Witherspoon. Her debut performance in the underrated masterpiece The Man In The Moon was phenomenal, and her great role in Freeway proved that this girl has got range and is one helluva talent!

All five of these ladies are quite talented, but the best performance of these that I've seen is Thora Birch in Ghost World, so I voted for her.

I agree with Reese Witherspoon for Man in the Moon and Freeway, that's some range!

I agree, Nat was sensational in "Beautiful Girls". All of us should have the pleasure of knowing a Marty at one point in our lives.
But, that perf was before Nat was 16, and my criteria here was my one favorite performance before 16, and my one favorite performance after turning 16. I had already included "The Professional" as pre-16 for Nat, as I see that as THE BEST work she's ever done...ever GOING to do?
C'mon Nat! Bust out with something CHALLENGING! RISQUE!
The girl has it in her...

I put Thora Birch, though I haven't seen Paradise, so I changed it in my mind to Alaska, which she was good in, and she was great in Ghost World and American Beauty.

Natalie Portman has been great too, but her Star Wars roles suck.

I'd have to say Thora Birch. Super in both Paradise and Ghost World (her best performance).

Christina Ricci, simply for her great performance in The Opposite of Sex.

Definately, Natalie Portman. She gave one of the best performances as a young actor I've ever seen in Léon.

Portman, for sure. She gave an amazing early performance in THE PROFESSIONAL and helped turn ANYWHERE BUT HERE from some dumb Lifetime Channel reject into a solid picture.
