View Full Version : Favorite Bill Murray Movie

Rated R

Me, I love Bill Murray, I think he is one of the funniest people alive, as well as a good actor, which you need to be funny truly. I will have to say that The Royal Tenenbaums is my favorite movie he's been in, but I am not including that on the list simply because he wasn't the focus of the film. These movies, and Rushmore is included, are here because he had a substantial roles in. What do you think?

What About Bob ? Murray perfected the role of Bob Wiley, no wonder it's one of my favorite comedies. I also loved how Leo Marvin(Richard Dreyfuss) gets mad after Bob spends too much time with his family.

I think Ed Wood is the best he's appeared in so far.

Good call on Ed Wood Cyc, he cracked my ass up in that one. I chose Rushmore, though it was more of supporting role, he was just exceptional in it,and also, Rushmore is just a personal fave of mine. Great fucking movie!

Three way tie: Quick Change, What About bob and Caddyshack.

If only he had a larger role in The Royal Tenebaums...

Aside from Christmas Vacation, Scrooged is my favorite Christmas movie. The "Put a little love in your heart" ending gets me everytime.

He has had many good ones, but I'll go with my favorite Ghostbusters.

GHOSTBUSTERS, of course. It's one of my favorite movies of all time. I've seen it SO many times, now. I never get sick of it and its sequel (which I feel is ALMOST as good as the first).

For me it's a tie between Caddyshack and Stripes .

Caddyshack and Stripes are two of the funniest movies, ever. But the performances pale in comparison to the Herman Blume character in Rushmore. Great movie, and great performances all around.

Caddyshack, he was at his best in that classic! Bill was also good in Rushmore, Stripes, and Ghostbusters.

RUSHMORE!!!

These are all great performances, but I chose other, since he doesn't get nearly as enough recognition for his subtle, against-type performance as a mobster opposite Robert De Niro in Mad Dog and Glory. It's not a wild or wacky performance, but its incredibly layered, in my opinion, and a great precursor to his understated performance in Rushmore.

The hilarious Groundhog Day, followed closely by Ghostbusters and Rushmore.

Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day are two other great movies he did! However, I really didn't like Caddyshack. It just wasn't funny to me.

Ghostbusters (8/10)
Groundhog Day (8.5/10)
Scrooged (6/10)
Stripes (7/10)
What About Bob (4/10 - I HAAAAAAte this movie!)
Rushmore (10/10)
Where the Buffalo Roam (never seen)
Caddyshack (7/10)
Ed Wood (9/10 - although it isn't his movie)

Rushmore wins (it's my all-time favorite).

My uncle played some golf with mr Murray in the States years ago and my uncle didn't know who he was until he came home and saw BM in a TV-trailer for KINGPIN.

My uncle said he was a very nice and softspoken man, and a good golf player.

I do think mr Bill kicked my uncle's ass in the game, tho'.

I went with Groundhog Day, which is an absolute classic.

His funniest role for me would be Ernie McCracken in Kingpin.

He's at his best in Groundhog Day.

I'm suprised Lost in Translation isn't mentioned; he's really good in that too.

Groundhog Day without a doubt. It's one of my all time favorite movies and Murray's best performances, IMO. Though I do have like five or six of his other films in my top 100. So yeah, I KINDA like the guy :D

Ed Wood, although his best film with him a leading role, that I've seen, is Stripes. Though I really want to see Groundhog Day and Lost in Translation.
