I bought Spider-Man a few minutes ago and when I looked at the scene selection sheet, they had made it an ad! Seriously. The front has Spidey, but when you open it up on the right is a bunch of deals from Cingular and on the LEFT is the scenes. What is up with that? I am okay with a separate sheet tossed in, but to attach it to a DVD keepsake like a scene selection pages stinks. What do you guys think on this issue?

i hate it. first our computers get bombarded with popups about these kinds of things, and when we try to watch a simple movie, it happens again. i'll tell ya, i don't know what the world will be like in the next couple of years on the issue of ads. personally, i hate it. we as people know what we want. for instance, when i see an ad about something on t.v., i either don't want it, or have already planned to get it if i do. people that think up these ads seem to think that people are stupid or something. i hate it.

The funny thing is that most people are stupid. I do not agree with ads at all, and I hate them, but comanies are just trying to make money, and with the recent boom in dvd sales over the past few years, they are getting smart, and knowing that people buy dvds.
Especcially in the case of the spiderman dvd, which will sell huge, a single slip of paper could make Celular millions of dollars

They've always had advertisement in VHS' and DVD's. It doesn't bother me because that's the way the world works. That company just made some-millions of dollars to put their advertisement in it, and all i do is throw it away.
But i agree about the whole advertisment world is getting HUGE! that's why i think movies that are futuristic are correct about advertisment in the future. Billboards EVERYWHERE! even ones that communicate with you like in Minority Report.

Which is why Minority Report included them in the first place..
I dont understand why people get so pissed off by them. Do we get so easily distracted these days? If you got paid millions for simply putting a small picture on your product, wouldn't you consider it? Its only a small inconvenience to you...throwing away that coupon does not change the content of the dvd at all.
I also agree with Darkface with the fact that advertisements have always been included in vhs and dvd's. In the days of "The Lion King", I could remember that Disney always included at least two packets of "mail in rebate" offers. I fail to see the difference in those...

You missed the point. I do not care if they throw in a slip of paper for every damn company in the world. I just think it is rude and over-the-top to attach it to the DVD Scene listing.
It doesn't bother me, UNLESS it's on a keepsake thing like dh said. I didn't look at the booklet inside my Spider-Man DVD yet but I know if it was a movie I loved and I actually wanted something as a keepsake I'd be a little disappointed that it had ads on it. But other than that it doesn't bother me if videos and DVD's include ads, I actually like looking at the special offers and deals that come with them, they just shouldn't be included in the booklets themselves.
