Just wanted to see what everyones favorite Sonic Youth Album is. My favorite by far is Washing Machine. The Diamond sea is about as perfect as a song can get plus the rest of the album aint to shabby either.

I'll go with EVOL.. a demonstration if their artistic savy in this full length Punk Masterpiece about that dangers of falling in love Prematurely....this is, in my humble opinion, THE BEST Rock album ever made.

I'm an experimental jet set kinda dude myself. I really like Dirty alot too.

~Dirty

The second album, sister (1987), is perhaps the ONLY album that Sonic youth can pull off live.. Perhaps their most 'conventionally crafted' album, filled with...fills that are actually tangible, substantial.. a rarity, in other words.
this could've EASILY had a radio friendly song.. tracks like catholic Block, tuff gnarl could easily be dressed for MTV..

btw, have any of you guys ever heard The White(y) album, released under the pseudonym Ciccone youth??

Ciccone.. Madonna's last name.. Released just a few monts before their double album, Daydream Nation..

Pretty much a novelty, but I'd reccomend you checking it out for Thurston's cover of INTO THE GROOVE...

OR, you can get it for the drum machine, street beaty, fake hip hop, sporting Kim's RAP.... yeah... Kim Gordon Rapping..

God I love sonic Youth...

Yes. "Get Into The Groovy" is very cool. Odd sounding, but cool none the less.
