I am here once again schmoes, to post a pointless thread. But it could be good.
It's where you guess the lyrics. I say the lyrics and you say who sings them and what song.
I'll start.
Run and tell all of the angels
This could take all night
Think I need a devil to help me
Get things right
Hook me up a new revolution
Cos this one is a lie
We sat around laughing
And watch the last one die
I'm looking to the sky to save me
Looking for a sign of life
Looking for something help me burn out bright
I'm looking for complications
Looking cos I'm tired of lying
Make my way back home
When I learn to fly

Foo fighters- Learn To fly (it's too easy if you post the chorus)
How about:
No good times, no bad times,
there's no times at all
just the New York Times,
sitting on the windowsill
near the flowers
We might as well be apart
It hardly matters
We sleep separately
And drop a smile passing in the hall
But there's no laughs left
'Cause we laughed them all
And we laughed them all
In a very short time

Too hard?
Ok, try this (same artists)
I am just a poor boy
Though my story's seldom told
I have squandered my resistance
For a pocketful of mumbles
Such are promises
All lies and jests
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest
When I left my home and my family
I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station
Running scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters
Where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would know

Hopefully I'm right...
There was a checkpoint Charlie
He didn't crack a smile
But it's no laughing party
When you've been on the murder mile...

Yours is Oliver's Army, I think
If so how about:
Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't belie the one who left behind his name
'Cause they're waiting for you like i waited for mine
And nobody ever came

Dream Brother - Buckley
Next song
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

Stairway to Heaven...Oh the Rolf Harris version is a favourite of mine!

A cinch ;)
Stairway to Heaven...classic.
Another:
While ____________ (insert title of song here)
Sons of bankers, sons of lawyers
Turn around and say good morning to the night
For unless they see the sky
But they can't and that is why
They know not if it's dark outside or light
This one should be pretty easy since it is the chorus...

Rent a flat above a shop, Cut your hair and get a job.
Smoke some fags and play some pool, pretend you never went to school.
But still you’ll never get it right...‘cos when you’re laid in bed at night watching roaches climb the wall, if you called your dad he could stop it all!

The last one would be Elton..."Mona Lisa's and Mad-Hatter's, something similar at least!
Once again...
"Rent a flat above a shop, Cut your hair and get a job.
Smoke some fags and play some pool, pretend you never went to school.
But still you’ll never get it right...‘cos when you’re laid in bed at night watching roaches climb the wall, if you called your dad he could stop it all!"

Yup!
Mona Lisas and Mad hatters it is...
This one's tough (at least for me anyway), don't think I know this one...

Common People by Pulp
One of my fave Pulp songs, but it's not close to Sorted For E's & Wizz or F*E*E*L*I*N*G*C*A*L*L*E*D*L*O*V*E
Next:
You see my old man's got a problem
He lives with the bottle, that's the way it is
He say his body's too old for working
I say his body's too young to look like this
My mum went off and left him
She wanted more to life than he could give
I said somebody's gotta take care of him
So I quit school and that's what I did

That's Fast Car by Tracy Chapman, great song!
Yes I think I'm OK, I walked into the door again
If you ask that's what I'll say but it's not your business anyway
I guess I'd like to be alone, nothing broken nothing wrong
Just don't ask me how I am x3

I think it's Luka by Suzanne Vega. If I'm wrong, ignore my shot until someone gets it right.
My song:
You don't have to have the solution,
You've got to understand the problem.
And don't go hoping for a miracle.
All this will fade away.
So I'm coming home...
So I'm coming home...
But just for a short while

The Bluetones - Slight Return (a very underrated band)
I never thought that this day would ever come
When your words and your touch just struck me numb
Oh and it's plain to see that it's dead
The thing swims in blood and it's cold stoney dead
It's so hard not to feel ashamed
Of the loving living games we play
Each day

Jesus and Mary Chain - The hardest Walk...is this where you got your name from???
Sitting and staring out of the hotel window
Got a tip they're gonna kick the door in again
I Like to get some sleep before I travel
But if you got a warrant I guess you're gonna come in
Not too hard for my first song

Truckin' - The Grateful Dead
He move with some uncertainty, as if he didn't know
Just what he was there for, or where he ought to go
Once he reached for something golden hanging from a tree
And his hand come down empty

Ok, i doubt anyone is going to get this one any time soon, so i'll start up a new one.
You could be my someone
You can be my scene
You know that I'll protect you
From all of the obscene
I wonder what you're doing
Imagine where you are
There's oceans in between us
But that's not very far

Puddle Of Mudd - Blurry.
In the words of Kiefer Sutherland - "My turn"
Everybody had a good year, everybody had a good time
Everybody had a wet-dream, everybody saw the sunshine
Oh, yeah
Everybody had a hard year. everybody let their hair down
Everybody pulled their socks up, everybody put their foot down
Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, oh, yeah

This was "Tapestry" by Carole King, by the way
Reigh's is The Beatles' "I've got a feeling"
Try this:
she says it's all gonna end
and it might as well be my fault
and she only sleeps when it's raining
and she screams and her voice is straining...

How about these (I do not consider this to be all-that-hard...but...):
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell
Blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war
for a lead role in a cage?

Well I know what it is, "Wish you were here" but I don't know who did the original. I know Johny Rwksahfcjdbc from Goo Goo Dolls and Fred Durst performed it for a Tribute to Heroes but I don't know who did it originally.
I'll still have a go though...
Well the pills I got they ask me, lets go out for a while
And the knives up in the kitchen are all too dull to smile
Yeah and the sun it tries to warn me
Boy those wings are made of wax
While the things I do to kill me
They just tell me to relax

Ryan Adams...???
I'm very shite you know. I don't know what that one is called either!
I've got all these freebie CD's and I don't know the bloody names of the bloody tracks...Ryan Adams, Matchbox 20, BRMC, The Coral, The Hives, The Polyphonic Spree, The Vines, The Datsus, Idlewild, Feeder, The Libertines, The Streets, Doves...It's all a blur!
This new-fangled music is far too confusing...
Try this easy peasy one!
High on diesel and gasoline, psycho for drum machine
shaking their bits to the hits...
Drag acts, drug acts, suicides, in your dad's suits you hide
staining his name again...
Cracked up, stacked up, 22, psycho for sex and glue
lost it to Bostik, yeah...
Shaved heads, rave heads, on the pill, got too much time to kill
get into bands and gangs...

Beautiful Ones- Suede
Try this:
I'll start this off without any words
I got so high that I scratched 'til I bled
I love myself better than you
I know it's wrong so what should I do?

Ride it all out like you were a bird.
Wear a tall hat like a Druid in the old days
Wear a tall hat and a tattooed gown"

T-Rex - Ride A White Swan
Try this...
"Ce que j'ai fait, ce soir la
Ce qu'elle a dit, ce soir la
Realisant, mon espoir
Je me lance vers la gloire
We are vain and we are blind
I hate people when they're not polite"

Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads
Try this one:
"God speed his journey back to Hell
I might retreat singing
But all I hear is you
Just give me one more shot of gin
I'll scream along to anything"

Psycho Killer - The Talking Heads
Electriclite got it first, it seems, but I'll post the next set-o-lyrics
And yesterday I saw you standing by the river,
And weren't those tears that filled your eyes,
And all the fish that lay in dirty water dying,
Had they got you hypnotized?
