I am sorry for the vast number of you who love The Ring more than anything else, but I just don't understand why you do. I found it dull, pretentious, predictable and just plain ridiculous. I originally gave it a 5/10, but as I go on my hatred grows for it. I think it was shot well and that is the only redeeming factor. Oh and it was far too generic for what it should have and could have been. If you liked it, good for you you found something in it that I cannot...but I don't think I'll watch it again, or at least I won't pay for it.

I'll second that, there's no use in starting another thread...

I'm sure you aren't the only one but the majority of people seem to like or love it, so obviously it wasn't a waste of film to most people, and if a lot of people liked it and it's making tons of money then it was worth the film. I don't think many movies are a waste of film, no matter how much you don't like a movie there's always going to be someone that loves it and it's not a waste of film to them. I can't think of a single movie that's a waste of film, even horrible movies are useful because they show you what not to do. I loved THE RING (9/10), it was a nice "mature" and creepy thriller, one of the best films of the year...
