Okay.... I know it's the worst (and meanest) of the series, but I kinda like it.
It has a little individual style...
Does anyone agree?
Why do you all hate it so much?

I didnt see much wrong with it, what is wrong with it? Except the characters Tina, Mike, and Spitz, I know they are annoying.

Lindsey... great explanation for why it was 'shit'.
I agree that Tina was annoying and characters paper-thin. But it was part 5 in an already exhausted series.
Danielle Harris was superlative in every scene, and Donald Pleasance was... well... his usual brilliance. Michael looks a bit crap, but he hasn't looked the same since the first one... they never got the mask quite right since the original.
Michael chasing Jamie in the car was hair raising, and I feel that the film had almost more style than any of the other sequels. Especially H20.

Halloween 5 does have style. I liked Tina. I loved the suspense. And it is one of my fave Halloween flicks. There are some great moments in this film. Watch it, and try to enjoy it. I sure did. Not as good as H4, but still fun with a great climatic and shocker of an ending.

well, the ending was original i guess, but i just thought it had NO suspense, NO likeable characters, dumbass way to bring Mikey back from H4

Well, I thought that some of the early scenes were actually pretty interesting, the way Tina is telepathically linked to her infamous uncle. The director, Dominique Othenin-Girard, does a good job conveying the emotional confusion this poor girl has to go through.
However, the film quickly goes downhill after about 40 minutes; it's little better than a typical "Friday the 13th" film. Even the direction becomes sadly pedestrian, especially with that awful barn sequence.
The ending is much too abrupt; the lack of thought and preparation put into it is painfully obvious.
"Halloween 5" actually has a few interesting ideas, besides the psychological aspects already mentioned. The idea that even Michael is not beyond redemption, that Dr. Loomis' actions are morally questionable.
But in the end, it's pretty much just another slasher flick, although not as gory as some.
4/10.

Well I believe this is kind of underrated, I sympathized much more towards Harris then a drunken, abusive, turned Ripley Jamie Lee Curtis in H20. The last half hour packs a punch with the chase sequences in the car and the Myers house with stylish direction and there is no comic relief (and those that tried met their demise and stayed dead) or hip references. Pleasance and Harris brought a lot of energy to their roles and enjoyed being in Halloween movies while it seemed H20 was Curtis's movie and she was going to have it her way and everyone else was just along for the ride.
I give it a B-

Its pretty damn sucky thats fersure! It has a couple of things going for it, but its just way BAD! Pleasance being one of those things, but it almost killed the series. I give it a C-/D.

H5 is my favourite...why? because in it, pleasence rages with insanity which makes me think of this movie as a duel between two indestructible maniacs... also, the barn scenes were done exceptionally well as well as myers house scenes...

Yep, Part 5 is my least favorite "Halloween" - I even like Part 6 better, and as you all know, THAT`S saying something! Here are a few reasons that I didn`t like 5 too much:
1. That black-haired girl (Tina?) was annoying as all hell.
2. The way Michael lived after Part 4 was pretty weak. An old hermit in the woods takes care of a guy in a coma (wearing a mask) until he wakes up? Whatever.
3. That HORRIBLE goofy clown-music they play in the background when those two cops are on screen. My Lord, what were the filmmakers thinking when they put that music in? The parts with the cops and that music practically ruined the WHOLE movie for me.
4. Nothing really new happened in this movie. Part 4 felt fresh in a way - Part 5 had a strong aura of "been there, done that".

Halloween 5 had some good ideas and some good suspense, but it never came together to become a good movie. The film lagged in the middle, the plot was a bit weak, and the teens were really annoying. I wanted them all to die.
On the upside, Donald Pleasence and Danielle Harris did very well. The idea movie should've focused on them. The last half hour was great and the Myers house confrontation marked the breaking point in the Loomis/Myers relationship. Michael spit at his chance for redemption and Loomis threw away much of his morality. The ending sucked though. I would rather have had Michael get thrown into a maxium security prison for the rest of his days and have the series end right there.

yeah, H5 was NOT a good movie..it was OK at BEST....MYERS looked stupid in the movie, and the characters were paper thin...PLEASANCE was awesome as usual, and HARRIS was good, but besides that, the movie totally lacked in many aspects...ZERO suspense, and the addition of the "MAN IN BLACK" was just too goofy..the prison break in/shootout at the end was way too fucking stupid..i mean, get realistic...
also, the cops kept MYERs mask on while they put him in the cell..that was gay as all hell...

I LOVE this movie. However Michael did some strange things in this one like taking off his mask and shedding a tear. Almost letting Loomis reach out to him. And even more strange is why he drove Tina around in the car. He even backed up for her to go to the store. Why didn't he jus KILL her? Oh well its still a great movie. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Thought It sucked, Lemme get this straight. In Part 4 Rednecks are driving around the city shooting anything that moves, on the hunt for Michael, now in part 5 some dumbass guy is walking around in a Myers outfit complete with mask? Don't you think he would have at least been aressted for disturbing the peace? Especially considering the Police are probably extra alert in Haddonfield on Halloween night. Guys lucky he didn't get shot. ALso it led to way too many fake scares. This is just one more plot issuse I had with this film.

I really like this entry. It's creepy at parts and it felt very Halloween-y. Sure it wasn't a good movie but that doesn't mean that it's not entertaining to watch near or on Halloween.

Here are pros and cons of Halloween 5.
PROS:
Is another Halloween movie.
Danielle Harris and Donald Pleasence are as solid as ever.
The rake in the head is cool.
Sex scene ain't bad.
We see how Michael escaped the mine shaft from H4.
Has the cool laundry shoot sequence.
It didn't go with Jamie as the killer and kept our beloved Michael.
CONS:
The mask is shit!
The hermit story is way unrealistic.
The telekinesis was uneeded between Michael and Jamie, would've liked a much more simpler story.
The film is shot like a shitty European soap opera by its dumb ass director rather than an American horror film.
TINA WILLIAMS!
Tina's boyfriend Mike.
Spitz.
The clown cops.
The Myers house being a gothic castle.
Don Shanks looked a bit bored making the film.
Donald Pleasence hated the script.
Introduces the Man in Black and the Thorn story.
These are all reasons for the hating of Halloween 5. The cons really outweigh the pros. Halloween III is the worst but this is definitely the worst sequel featuring Michael.

I think people should cut this movie a break along with Season of the Witch, Friday the 13th Part 5, and Freddy's Revenge. These movies don't suck at all. I think they're all great. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (now THERE'S an original title) is my least favorite of the Halloween movies (I even like Halloween III better!) Basically the only reason I'll watch it is to see the opening credits, which, oddly enough, are among the best of the series. Too bad the flick goes down the crapper soon after...
PROS: Danielle Harris, Donald Pleasance (his "rage" speech is redundant, but delivered with such passion that you can clearly see Loomis teetering on the brink of madness!), The car chase sequence.
CONS: Everything else.

i have to agree with most of yall because i didnt think this was the worst of the halloween series, that title belongs to Halloween 6(could've been good but had too much crap). halloween 5 for some reason felt like the first(am i crazy?) i didnt like the psychic thing though. overall halloween 5 did have alot of faults but i still think it was pretty good

I've always had a personal place in my heart of horrors for HALLOWEEN 5. I think each one is good on its own terms and reflects the vision of the director. HALLOWEEN 5 makes HALLOWEEN 4 all that much better.

ok im gonna get the ship ripped outta me 4 this but here goes.
i think that part 5 is the best of the series (tho i aint seen part 4 yet.) i have never been that big a fan of the halloween series but i just this week got part 5 on dvd and watched it 4 the first time and i loved it. i though that kid was a great little actress and the directing was really good. great use of angles and stuff. the bad thing was tina was soooooo annoying that i really really wanted her 2 die slowly and painfully (not b4 getting here tits out tho he he).
8/10

I think all of you are just putting up a front in regards to the whole "Michael crying" scene. Oooooooh, we're hardened horror-philes, we don't like crying. Personally, I thought that the crying scene was the best in the whole movie. I loved how the music gets all sad and moving for a moment, and then suddenly he shoves the mask on and attempts to impale her. It's not like he's a wimp or anything...I mean, I thought it brought a very interesting element to the whole crappy mix. Anyway, my two cents' worth. Not a great movie, about a 5 out of 10, but I did like the crying. Call me a sensitive mainstreamer, I don't care!

HALLOWEEN 5 was a pile of horseshit, and one of the few things I actually liked about it was the "crying" scene.
