Here's a look at The Top 20 films at the Australian Box Office for the weekend October 31st - November 3rd.

(1) (1) MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING
(2) (2) RED DRAGON
(3) (Debut) BLURRED
(4) (Debut) THE TRANSPORTER
(5) (Debut) MURDER BY NUMBERS
(6) (Preview Screening) CRACKERJACK
(7) (3) THE BOURNE IDENTITY
(8) (4) ROAD TO PERDITION
(9) (5) THE NUGGET
(10) (6) AUSTIN POWERS IN GOLDMEMBER
(11) (9) LILO AND STITCH
(12) (12) BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM
(13) (11) STUART LITTLE 2
(14) (7) ENOUGH
(15) (Debut) POLLOCK
(16) (Debut) THE ROOKIE
(17) (8) SWIMFAN
(18) (10) REIGN OF FIRE
(19) (13) XXX
(20) (14) CROCODILE HUNTER: COLLISION COURSE

WEDDING still continues its dominance over RED DRAGON in all areas. WEDDING, which has now earned $9,755,226, dropped only 13% in takings and had an average screen count of 184, whilst RED DRAGON, despite a screen count of 287, dropped 43% and has so far earnt only $4,718,140. A whole swag of new entries in the Top 5 brought about some surprises. The Aussie comedy BLURRED managed a 3 position and was most likely successful due to the film's subject of schoolies week as it is soon approaching. I didn't expect THE TRANSPORTER to beat out MURDER BY NUMBERS, but it was good to see both flucks in the Top 5. Unfortunately CRACKERJACK, an unfunny looking Australian comedy about lawn bowls managed to slip into 6 on Preview Screenings. Hopefully it will crash and burn on its national release. Many former box office blitzers are slowly reclining whilst REIGN OF FIRE and SWIMFAN took the heftiest falls. 67% and 69% respectively.

THIS WEEK: The Heath Ledger/Kate Hudson outing THE FOUR FEATHERS was to open this week but has been pushed back, so we settle for K19: THE WIDOWMAKER with Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson and CRACKERJACK. The less said about that one the better.

See ya next week

I really believe that MBFGW is worth the success. But can't understand the huge drops RED DRAGON is recieveing everywhere.
The Transporter was a good action flick but I hoped for a better position for MURDER BY NUMBERS, one of the most underrated thrillers of the year. (what was it's gross, then? ;) )

MURDER BY NUMBERS took in $469,359. And remember, Australian money makings aren't as big as in the US. A Top 5 is still solid. I have yet to see it, but despite hearing mixed/negative reviews, i still wanna check it out.

FilmBuff84, may I ask you how Harry Potter did in Australia.

Anywho, back on topic. MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING was pretty funny and I am glad it is doing well. Red Dragon was also amazing, I am suprised it is doing mediocre business.

I also hope The Transporter holds up over the weeks, but there are some big flicks hitting the cinemas soon, so it could slip quickly.

dh1989, no problem. HARRY POTTER opened on November 29th to the Number 1 spot with $9,249,505. After 13 weeks in release, it had dipped to 19 and was last seen in the Top 20 of the weekend 21st -24th February 2002 with a total of $41,610,399. It finished up with $42,302,657.

The sequel THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS hits Australian cinemas on November 28th.
