The only thing that will stop this movie from being so huge, is that it gets negative reviews. But look at the first one, peole plugged into computers living in a simulated world? That sounds wierd enough, but look how big it was. So is their any way for these movies to be bad?

I think there's only two ways for both of them to be bad. One is if the plots are weak and full of holes, the other is if there's too little action. But the odds of that happening are about a billion to one.

Little action:eek:
Are you serious? There's a 14-minute car chase, "matrix style".
If that is the only action scene, I dont think anybody will be let down

Plot can suck.
Rythm can suck.
Acting can suck.
Artistic design can suck.
Dialogue can suck.
Action scenes can suck (meaning not be all that great)
There's a thousand ways for these flicks to fuck up, as for every movie. Personally, nothing yet gave me the feeling RELOADED and REVOLUTIONS are gonna be fantastic (not even close), so I think yes, they can be big piles of crap, yeah.

I really don't want to ponder the prospect that the sequels might suck. It's not out of the question, but I won't even think about it till I really have to. :(

Just because it looks and sounds like it will rule doesn't mean it will rule. Look at Pearl Harbor, Phantom Menace, and any number of high profile crappy movies. Reloaded has just as much chance as the others

You raise a valid point. However, Pearl Harbor could've went either way (good or bad), but had nothing to live up to except hype. It's not like Michael Bay previously made an outstanding war movie that people felt it had to live up to. I haven't seen it, but apparently it went in the latter direction. The Phantom Menace, though, did have a legacy to live up to. But the kicker here is that the previous films were made such a long time ago, it's no doubt that Lucas kind of lost touch with the essence of the original trilogy, instead becoming fascinated with new technology. And indeed, the main reason I didn't like Phantom Menace, besides the wretched dialogue and acting, was the fact that it felt too artificial. I'm not a huge fan of the originals, but I enjoyed the craftmanship that went into the effects on that one, because to me they felt, well, real.
The point I'm trying to make is that The Matrix is still relatively new and fresh in the creators' minds, much in the same way as The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi were after A New Hope and its massive success back in the day. And the sequels are a fluid continuation of the story they started in '99 (or whenever they first came up with it). And if the original Star Wars trilogy is any indication, a continuous story usually only gets better with each new installment.
Let's hope that, if the Wachowskis decide to release some prequels twenty or so years in the future, they don't suck :D

I'm assuming Empire Strikes Back, as in reference to that being twice as good as the original Star Wars.
