Dammit, I can't wait to see it. I went to the video store yesterday and they said they're not getting it until today.

I saw this in theaters once, but know I've rented it, and I've watched it three times since last night. It's such a great movie (10/10), and you know one thing I really love that they did to the video, whenever it was needed the screen went from pan & scan to widescreen so we could see the whole picture, I think that's a great idea. I like to watch movies in widescreen...but the T.V. in my room is pretty small so I don't like watching all movies like that cause the I only get about 5 inches of vertical picture...but with this whenever it's needed it just switches to widescreen, I think that is such a great idea. what are your thoughts on this new changing format idea?

I'm renting Magnolia tonite, it's one of my favorite movies. I'm happy to see so many people like it on this board. And i'm also happy that they went the 'Insider' route with the video by putting widescreen inside it. That enhanced the quality of viewing 'the Insider' for me, and hopeuflly it enhances many other peoples viewings for Magnolia.
And you're are ONE HUNDRED percent right Tom gave one of the best supporting performances of the decade, he should have gotten the oscar. He was sooooo much better then Michael Caine.
Magnolia - 10/10! A+! ****!

Boogie Nights is wonderful (8/10), but I haven't seen Magnolia yet. I probably check it out next week. I'm certain that I will love the film.
Has anyone seen Anderson's first film? I don't remember it's name but I have heard it's really good.

Yes Tuuka I've seen it and I own it, it's called Hard Eight. It stars Phillkip Baker Hall as Sydney an old gambler, who picks up John (John C. Reilly) and starts to show him the ropes. It's a really great film, especially considering the budget. If you can find it I definetly suggest checking it out.

I thought Boogie Nights is one of the worst films I have ever seen /ubb/frown.gif Especially the scene where the Chinese dude was shooting bullets in the house for fun... that was JUST AWFUL!

Pinchadiscos: The Chinese dude wasn't "shooting bullets"; they were firecrackers. And Boogie Nights is an absolutely great movie, as are Magnolia and Hard Eight.
Paul Thomas Anderson is my favorite movie director working today. I'm just waiting for the Magnolia DVD to come out...this movie should be seen in widescreen if at all possible. It is kinda cool how the VHS version switches into widescreen in certain scenes.

Oops.. hmm well that's exactly what I was trying to say - "Firecrackers"... hehe
Well Boogie Nights is a very interesting movie, but it tells a story that I do not really care about at all...

Boogie Nights is still my favorite PTA movie to date, with Magnolia behind it in second place and Hard Eight in third. You should see it again for many reasons, one of the reasons being that it has Burt Renyolds best work on that film. I am not a Burt fan, but after seeing that film, I changed my perspective about him.

I just saw Magnolia today, and although it was a good movie, I didn't think it was great. Definitely not one of the best of '99, but definitely the best of the rest of '99.
My list for '99(This list is a combo of favorite and greatest):
1. The Green Mile
2. American Beauty
3. South Park: B,L,U
4. Being John Malkovich
5. Three Kings
6. Fight Club
7. Stir of Echoes(liked it better than the Sixth Sense)
8. Election
9. The Matrix
10. TIE-Sleepy Hollow & Magnolia
