How are you connecting the player to your amp? The cable may have become damaged. I was having the same problem with both DTS and Dolby Digital audio, and replacing the cable fixed it.

it's connected with an optical just now,i've previously tried coax(both expensive ones) but still the same problem persists,i'm beginning to think that i'm going to have to replace my player(sharp dv 600h) both cables LOOK ok,btu i suppose there could be a break somewhere...it's putting me off buying d.t.s discs...cheers

I have the same problems with my sony home theatre system. Happens as well when im playing in Dolby Digital 5.1

The sound cuts out for a split second then it continues. This may happen a few times during the movie.

Could be the dvd player having problems reading the info ??

Edit... Im connected via coax cable.

mine is also a sony.model number str-de445, i have heard recently that this is an older amp,and that it might not be reading the d.t.s signal properly
