Here's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Last week my brother said to me "you've got to respect the Insane Clown Posse because they're keeping horror alive."

How fucking ridiculous is that?

I actually saw the ICP at Rock City in Nottingham about 5 years ago and there was nothing even remotely horrific about their act (apart from a couple of guys in skeleton masks who came onstage for a song, and the fact that I actually paid to see this shit! :) )

If any musician (and in the ICP's case I use this term verrry loosely) deserves credit for keeping horror alive then it would be Alice Cooper (and not forgetting his bastard son Marilyn Manson)!
(This was the guy who did the song He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask) for Friday VI: Jason Lives remember, so he knows his shit - he even had a guy dressed up as Jason take a swipe at him with a machete during his 1987 Welcome To My Nightmare shows!)

I saw Alice a couple of years ago and we got a show full of horror, violence and a nice guillotining at the end of the first act! Sweet. :)

ICP? *spits on the floor* ;)

If you ask me ICP is just a very bad rip off of what the original bad boys of Rock and Roll did in their day and are still doing...Im talking about KISS of course..heh heh...you know the make up thing and trying to piss every one off...:D

And at least Kiss has some blood spewing action in their show....and that still scares some people...I took a cousin of mine to a kiss concert and when simmons did his bass solo and started dooing his blood spewing I could see it in his face, he thought he was in an some satanic unholy ritual...heh heh..:D

Yeah, very much so - I think he's a great showman (I saw him a couple of years ago on the God, Guns and Government tour in London) and has written some decent rock music. He combines the theatrics of two of my favourite rock acts - Alice Cooper and KISS - and the music of my favourite band Nine Inch Nails (not surpising seeing as Trent Reznor was his mentor), so what he does works for me!

ICP on the other hand are a joke - if I want theatrics, I'll go see KISS or Alice, and if I want rap I'll go see Public Enemy or Cypress Hill (both of whom I've seen and both of whom were fantastic).

They should stick to wrestling!

Manson is pretty cool I like his music he's got some pretty good songs under his belt. ICP what the fuck are these guys supposed to be artists? Fettdog is right they should stick to wrestling, then again mabey they should just vanish. And for keeping horror alive I think that Scully's brother's statement is completly false if anything they are killing the horror genre. (how?I don't know but they just are.)

Well when I was browsing through the Jason X IMDB reviews there were some ridiculous things people were saying, things that pissed me off. Such as, the whole Friday series sucks, all slashers really suck, that the ANOES movies suck, the Halloweens, etc. There was even some defenders of all of the aforementioned, but at the same time their attitude seemed odd to me, they were saying that nobody can criticize or say anything negative about any slashers or Fridays or whatever because all they're supposed to be is fun cheese and not to be taken seriously. Well, maybe if your a diehard Friday fan, but I feel this is an illogical position, because no movie from whatever genre or subgenre is exempt from criticism and that just because he feels none of them are supposed to be taken seriously (which at least some I would say certainly are) then you can't say anything bad about any of them and if you do you shouldn't be watching any of them at all. I didn't agree with this viewpoint and you could say its a ridiculous generalization. So I felt he was actually insulting and putting down their overall worth/value....just because some slashers receive poor reviews he sets them all on an even plane and defends them as if they were all equals deserving no greater or lesser praise than any other movie.

HAHA milk just came out my nose :) they were on Howard Stern last week, can't say I really care for them. They sure as hell are not keeping Horror alive. Doing that are the schmoes here and our fellow brother and sister shcmoes around the world who pay hard earned cash to watch& buy movies of the genre we love.

Since were talking about music connected with horror,I'm surprised The Misfits haven't been mentioned yet,Did'nt they do a zombie song of Dawn of the Dead or something.Holy shit,Speaking of zombie,Rob Zombie is another crazy motherfucker that no one mentioned.

misfits are great, they've had a bunch of songs based on low budget horror movies. dont know if they did a dawn of the dead one or not, if they did it was probably on one of the non danzig albums which i dont really care for.

i wont even share my opinion on ICP, i dont think its possible to put such a low opinion into words.

hahahaha yes. i was a loner in school, and no one understood that. so i was always being asked things like "are you gonna shoot up the school?" and things like that. i usually would just keep walking, one day the same kid asked me the same question about shooting up the school one time too many, i just stopped starred him in the eye and said "yeah, and you'll be the first one i take down." i never saw that kid again, dont know what ever happened to him. dont care either, i prefer my own company, that doesnt make me a psycho. just means i didnt wanna hang out with assholes like that. nothing more.

My words of wisdom on this subject......be true to yourself, don't let anyone else influence what you do or don't like, and just remember that it's better tohave just one person really understand where you're coming from (or in the case of the boards here, quite a few Schmoes who 'get it') than suffer fools for the sake of popularity! :)

Phew, that's off my chest - I'm off to shoot up a shopping mall! ;)

I would say ICP is definitely keeping horror alive with that thing they put out called music....their music is horror to my ears

sorry couldn't resist

hmmm...most ridiculous thing I have ever heard

Horror movies and rock music are evil and make people kill or let's blame all the violence on music and horror movies

blah...how stupid and unthinking are comments like that

Since the topic has to do with music and horror, I must mention one of my favorite musicians, King Diamond. I'm sure many of you would be turned off by his frequent use of falsetto, and I can understand that (although I personally love every aspect of his music), but his concept albums would all make really awesome horror movies.

I can relate to you Toxferatu,I was kind of a loner too,I say kind of because did a have a loner cliche,Anyways,There were tons of assholes like the one described at my school and usually just ignored,Thats good to hear that spoke up to one of those fucking pricks.

i couldnt take it anymore, everyday for about a month the kid asked me that. just one day i thought to myself if he doest it again i'll shut him up. of course i never shot up the school, nor did i want to, nor did i own a gun or know anyone that owned a gun. but i got that kid so good it would have been worth getting in trouble for saying that. but i didnt, just never saw the kid again. probably started taking a different way to class(always saw him in the hallway).
