I disagree. Can't beat Jackass IMO. :D

Nothing has really made me laugh since it appears to basically be Mr Deeds animated, which isn't very promising

I definetly don't want to see this film. The trailer is unfunny and just another gross-out/lets offend everyone film. Adam Sandler is mediocre, at best, in live-action and this one should be even worse. Ugh.

Personally I find most anything Adam Sandler does hilarious. Movies, Cds, whatever. So this shouldn't be any different, right?

Also I'm finally glad someone has taken some initiative and made a freaking Hannukah movie!

I'm excited...

This movie looks AWFUL.

However I am judging it from the really crappy and unfunny trailers I have seen.

I prolly will see this flick some day but just not on the big screen.

I had never listened to an Adam Sandler CD until about a year and a half ago. A friend of mine brought over a mixed CD and one of the things on it was Adam Sandler's Cock N' Balls, wait a minute, that didn't sound right. Anyway, it was really disgusting and just plain "wrong," yet it was also pretty damn funny, I couldn't believe what I was laughing at though, it felt wrong but I just couldn't help but laugh.

This looks...obnoxious.

Has anybody seen the TV ads for this that make fun of 8 Mile? It shows Adam Sandler basically singing Eminem's "Lose Yourself" with the lyrics "If you had one shot, etc." The logo at the end looks like the graffitti logo for 8 Mile, except it says 8...Crazy Nights.

Eh. Star Wars: The Attack of the Clones did similar lame knockoffs with their Yoda ads...

Yeah I'll be seeing this. One of my friends is in it as the voice of sandler when he was younger.

Well I guess I will see this movie. My sis really wants to see it, so you know. The only thing that really made me laugh was that Nobody Need's Unobrow line. So I guess we'll see.

Ya know, this looks extremely mean-spirited. Not that that is unusual, but this one looks truely cruel. That can be funny, but the context of this one makes it look merely unpleasant. I'm gonna wait til it's free on HBO.

No thanks, I'll probably end up passing on this one. I like Sandler, but this movie looks way too annoying for my taste. The only appealing thing about this movie, is Sandler's new twist on the "Hannukah Song", which I think is hilarious... but that's still not enough for me to see this movie.

Nah, I'm not a Adam Sandler fan, I don't really find his comedy all that funny, rarely makes me laugh (Happy Gilmore was cool though), he blew me away in Punch Drunk Love honestly, I loved him in that role and was totally believable (well shit, I have 5 sisters and no brothers...I've been mild-tempered around them like he was :D ). But, this isn't my type of film, sure it'll do good though...

Interesting you brought that up since I was reading the Roger Ebert review of Friday After Next and he mentioned seeing 8 Crazy Nights. It sounds like he didn't like it, calling it very mean-spirited, as you pointed out. I also noticed it

It doesn't look that funny, but I did chuckle when the old man says "don't worry son, I think you have very nice boobs" or something like that. From the trailers you can tell it will be immature, gross, mean-spirited, and probably not very funny. I'll rent it on video, but I doubt I will see it in theaters...

I liked Sandler when I was in school. I saw him in concert and I got his first album right when it came out.

When the second one came out, I heard a friends copy and I didn't like it, and haven't liked any of his stuff since.

It looks to me like he'll probably have some of his old songs in the movie, since his character is wearing a "Red Hooded Sweatshirt" and as others have mentioned "The Chanukah Song"

I've heard those before. I'll take a pass

And he talksabout how Osama Bin Laden hates jewish people and shit, I cant tell u how funny it was I saw the day it came out the first showing of the day, and if anybody else has seen this film remember thepart where whitey is lying on the sideline of the court with his hand down his pants saying "mmm my fingers are in your mouth kitty but i dont feel any teeth" or they show a flashback of young sandlar playing basketball and he wins the game and whitey says "all this excitement makes me want to do the robot" and he dances and there playing the robot music in the backround, ah nothing funnier nothing funnier.

I saw this on Thanksgiving with my younger brother. It was actually pretty funny, but there were some jokes which were unbelievably disgusting. And for anyone who cares, Davey (Sandler) is a grinch because his parents died on Hanukkah, and by the end he has regained his holiday spirit.

Seriously dude, you need to post spolier warnings for people who haven't seen the movie yet. That's about as bad as sitting behind someone in the theater who's already seen the movie and is talking about it the whole time.

Eight Crazy Nights is, predictably, receiving LOUSY reviews. Here's EW's thoughts:

You know all that artistic cred Adam Sandler built up with his acclaimed work in Punch-Drunk Love? Well, he flushes it down the crapper with Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights -- the most ill-conceived animated comedy since the 1991 dog Rover Dangerfield.

Sandler, who cowrote and coproduced this mess, annoyingly voices several characters, including Davey Stone, a slacker Scrooge who farts in Christmas carolers' faces; Whitey, an elderly, seizure-prone basketball referee with ''the hairiest ass in the locker room''; and Eleanor, Whitey's twin sister, who mistakes a sanitary toilet ring for a lobster bib. Are you sensing a pattern here?

But Eight Crazy Nights doesn't just cram as many poop jokes as possible into the longest 71 minutes of your life. Sandler actually has the chutzpah to expect you to care about his caricatures. Davey hates the holidays, you see, because when he was 12, his parents were killed in a car crash on the first night of Hanukkah. Can a reunion with his childhood sweetheart, now a single mom, melt Davey's cold heart? It looks likely until, as the narrator (Rob Schneider) explains, ''Just when you're starting to like Davey, he goes and has a butthole relapse.'' The same goes for Adam Sandler. EW Grade: F

Big shocker there.

OT, but what's with "8" this year? Eight Crazy Nights, 8 Mile, 8 Women, Eight Legged Freaks...

Warning: Don't listen to those critics. They are all wrong. This is a halarious movie that is fun for everyone.

I laughed until I couldn't breath. It was the funniest movie ever, even better than the outrageous comedy Jackass. It had a great story, well developed characters, sad but good ending. This is Adam Sandler's best flick and it's a cartoon! It has the most outrageous jokes and lines. It has some action (not violent though) and is overall the greatest movie ever. It has a real meaning to. My mom saw it because I said it was joyful and she went and cried at the end. I think Whity was aweome. And if you ever make fun of him "That's a Technicle Fowl" (if you didn't see the movie you won't get it". It also has alot of music. It is a great movie for ages 13 and up and is very enjoyable for the whole family. It really gets you in the holiday spirit.

ROTFLMFAO! If there's one thing I've learned, it's that, generally, the critics are right. And in this case, I'd bet my hands on it.

This is Adam Sandler's best flick

Let's see: Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, Big Daddy, Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds...yeah, quite an impressive filmography the man's got. Picking the "best" Adam Sandler movie is like picking your favorite ass zit; none of them are good - they just vary in degrees of suckiness. Your statement leads me to assume you missed Punch-Drunk Love - a shame, really. Go see it and tell me how 8 Crazy Nights is the superior '02 Sandler movie.

...and is overall the greatest movie ever.

Ok, you got me. I thought this was a serious, sincere post until I came across this line. Good one. Nobody who regularly watches movies could possibly say that with a straight face, so I commend you on your deadpan delivery of that clever, insightful bon mot. I understand why you have a Donkey avatar. Cheers.

Yowza, lots of tension going on in this thread.

As for me, I really have no desire to see this movie. It looks kind of stupid. Maybe it's one of those movies that you expect will be a total piece of crap, and then you end up being pleasantly surprised that it's not as bad as you'd expected.

I'd like to make a slight followup - I was only trying to be funny, as either way I haven't seen the film. It doesn't look good to me, but I have liked some of Adam Sandler's other movies. I still think Happy Gilmore is great, though most of his others are pretty crappy...

As a movie lover, I was rather insulted that someone could boldly proclaim 8 Crazy Nights the best movie ever. Did I call what's-his-name a moron, or dub him "Retardo Montalban"? No.

C'mon, surely I wasn't the only one who thought this Schmoe needed some sense knocked into him. "Funniest movie ever"? What should I have said: "I respect your opinion, but think anyone who gives this crapfest a 10/10 needs some serious guidance and a subscription to Netflix."

Judging by the trailer that made me gag and the numerous pans from critics, this movie is complete shit, and maybe I'm tired of these types of movies being so fucking popular. Look, if you're into slapstick, try renting Airplane, Soapdish, or Kingpin. A movie with animated kids snorting up milk through their noses and grownups using the word "boobies" is a serious miscalculation - good comedies happen when gifted actors react to funny situations, not with crass, poorly delivered lines that pander to the lowest common denominator. Why not see a comedy that bemusely observes human behavior with a bright, witty screenplay? Try something like Planes, Trains & Automobiles, or a good Cameron Crowe or Woody Allen flick, or (if you're old enough to appreciate it) Dazed and Confused.

(I won't get into Jackass, which seems to be this generation's Pink Flamingos, and exists outside the realm of criticism, much like, say, the cold front currently freezing my ass.)

Sandler needs to grow the fuck up. His movies play off his inexplicably hostile, sociopathic persona which sours all his movies. His characters are mean-spirited, offensive and (worst of all) tiresome. So when somebody proclaims one of his movies the best ever, it touches a nerve, and I should apologize for lashing out. Nothing personal - you just happened to be in my line of fire.

Now go to Blockbuster and rent some Martin Scorsese movies; if you proclaim one of them "the best movie ever," then you'll earn some respect.

That is just one comment from your rant over Santa Clause's review that attacked his sincerity. You pretty much say his opinion is a joke, hence completely non-serious.

Man, Who would have thought that a little cartoon flick could stir up so much emotions and hostility in people. It's just a movie. So no need to to attack people because they like/don't like it. If you like it then watch it again if you don't like it then avoid it like the plauge. But don't go around attacking people just because their views are different, because that's just plain wrong. You don't like it when people do it to you so don't do it to them. If we all can't chill out this thread might get closed. And I don't want that.

Honestly guys, opinions are like assholes, everybody has one!

Anywho, I find it sad that the bossman has recently put up the Rules of The Board threads in each Forum and yet some people are STILL NOT READING THEM!

Guys, I hate to sound like an episode of Oprah, but the only way that these boards will run smoothly is if and only if we can all just get along and respect each other.

It's fine to disagree with somebody sure, but to attack a persons' character in the process through disrespect is just ignorant and uncalled for. Not to mention that when doing so, you are breaking the one and only rule of the JoBlo.com message boards.

I'm sorry for such a bitchy sounding post, but please, just reread the Rules and Guidelines and familiarize yourself with them!

Eight Crazy Nights is an oddball mix of animation, music, crude humor and the holiday spirit. Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights as it is kown features him voicing three characters...first there is Davey Stone...who looks like Sandler-he is the town asshole, who hates everybody, everything and especially the holidays. He is a warped version of Ebeneezer Scrooge, except he shows contempt for everyone and drinks a lot. After he ruins the holidays for most of the town he is about to be sent to prison until he is rescued by a funny looking diminutive old man named Whitey(also voiced by Sandler) who is a referee for the local youth basketball league and has two different sized feet! Whitey lives with his twin sister Eleanor(again voiced by Sandler) who also is eccentric and weird and has two different sized feet. But Whitey and Eleanor are nice people and don't ever give up on Davey, even when he treats them like crap (literally too!). Of course it follows the usual Sandler styled comedy...a young dude who has a lot of anger always cussing and yelling at people until somehow he turns things around at the end and saves the day so to speak. Sandler's crude humor seems more suited for animation...it takes the edge off a bit...but still there isn't really very much redeeming about it. There is some fairly cool animation, I especially enjoyed a scene where the the store logos at a mall spring to life. I can't say this was laugh out loud funny either, I did chuckle a few times but the little short film of Sandler's dog at the beginning of the movie got as many laughs it seemed. The songs were kind of fun and weird in that style of South Park but nothing too memorable. Overall, Eight Crazy Nights is a weird mix of animation, music and crude humor...that seems more suited for Sandler's style but still isn't good enough to recommend.

First off, you havent even SEEN the movie, so you don't even know what your judging, and please don't judge the movie by its trailer, cause thats what I did, and I ended up finding the movie one of the funniest in a while.

And secondly, maybe to santa claus, this IS the best movie he's ever seen, because maybe he hasn't seen any scorcese flicks that you proclaim to be 'the best ever', maybe he hasn't seen Airplane, Soapdish or Kingpin...just because you disagree with his opinion, doesnt make his wrong.

personally i thought Kingpin was garbage and was worse than Osmosis Jones, but im not gonna knock you for you liking it.

i don't think Adam Sandler should grow up, since he's making the millions and millions of bucks, cause obviously some people like his films. I think you should grow up, and not be so ignorant.

Man things look quite violent here. Nevertheless I'm going to post my review. I watched it as a fan of Sandler films (I love 'em all except "Little Nicky" and some parts of "Mr. Deeds") so here goes...please don't kill me!!

“Adam Sandler’s Eight Crazy Nights”
Featuring the voices of Adam Sandler, Kevin Nealon, and Jon Lovitz
Rated PG-13 Rated PG-13 for frequent crude and sexual humor, drinking and brief drug references
Directed by Seth Kearsley
Rating: Borderline on C+ and B-

“8 CRAZY NIGHTS” OR “HOW I TRIED TO RUIN HANUKKAH”
By Jerrold Reber
Voices Correspondent
When it comes to comedy, Adam Sandler is the man to call. His childish characters and offbeat humor have made him one of the funniest comedians in Hollywood today. Well, you have to enjoy his type of comedy to actually like him anyway.
The man has always had a hit-or-miss record when it comes to his films. “Happy Gilmore” and “Big Daddy” is his best-remembered works. Then again “Little Nicky” is forgotten because, frankly, the film was just completely discombobulated.
Now after the slightly disjointed “Mr. Deeds” Sandler is back yet again, returning to those naughty tricks he showed his in his earlier films. “Eight Crazy Nights” is more than a cartoon comedy; it’s a musical at the core, and sometimes you just have to say – what?
Davey Stone is a 33-year-old degenerate who loves to ruin the holidays. On the first night of Hanukkah he drinks himself silly and ends up ruining the spirit for everyone. The next day at court the judge tells him that since he can’t clean up his act, he’ll be spending ten years in prison. That is, until a kindly old man named Whitey, with two different sized feet, comes to his rescue. He tells the judge he’ll train Davey to become a basketball referee, and change his life overall. Sex and fart jokes, some of the raunchiest musical numbers in comedy history, and a noticeable ode to “A Christmas Carol” ensue.
All those reviews out there that slam Sandler’s new film must surely mean this one is a stinker. Just ignore those older critics since their taste in films tends to center around artsy flicks. “Nights” is Sandler at his best – raunchy, disgusting, and just having fun. Sure, the humor is very lowbrow, but that won’t deter you from laughing.
“Nights” definitely isn’t for little children. The songs in the film incorporate drinking, sexuality, and other gross material. However, the songs just don’t have that same flare that Matt Stone and Trey Parker put into their musical cues in “South Park: Bigger, Longer, And Uncut.” All the same, Sandler and his writers did an average job in this department.
You can’t really judge the acting in a cartoon movie. Though, I admit, I was surprised to see who lent their voices to Sandler’s new twisted project. Sandler himself has voices – slacker Davey, under appreciated Whitey, and worrywart Eleanore, who is Whitey’s sister. Rob Schneider serves as narrator. “SNL” alumni Kevin Nealon and Jon Lovitz also help their old pal out. Also listen for Tyra Banks and Cole/Dylan Sprouse, the two twin brothers that starred in “Big Daddy.”
Still, even though the film is Sandler at his best (in sick terms), that doesn’t necessarily mean the film is faultless. For example, the story is riddled with plotholes. In real life Davey would have gone straight to jail, but here he’s taken under the tutelage of Whitey? However, this plothole is answered towards the end of the film in a very tragic and sad fashion.
“Eight Crazy Nights” isn’t Sandler’s best, but it definitely isn’t his worst. If you like “Billy Madison” then you’ll feel right at home with this film. However, if you have patience wait until spring when Sandler stars with legend Jack Nicholson in a comedy ala “Big Daddy.” Either way, Sandler gets his message across – Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all. At least I thhink he does.

OK, here's the key to digging Sandler's first animated production (from his Meatball Animation Studio)- don't think about it as an animated film. The animation is Saturday morning cartoon-quality, and can't hold a candle to the work of Disney or Anime in the art form. Think of "8 Crazy Nights" as an Adam Sandler comedy- meaning crude, mean-spirited comedy and manipulative sentiment- and you'll be better off. Hell, you might even enjoy it, assuming you've even somewhat enjoyed the Sand Man's outrageous, rage-filled antics onscreen in low-IQ comedies ("Happy Gilmore," "The Waterboy") and on "Saturday Night Live." Me? I dug the subversive tunes sung by Sandler (and loved the new version of his "Hanukkah Song"), even if they shouldn't expect an Oscar anytime soon, was manipulated brilliantly into buying the faux-Holiday spirit of the story of Sandler's loud-mouth Davey Stone's redemption in his home town during the 8 nights of Hanukkah, and laughed much more at the excessive crudity (that PG-13 rating is pushed to the limit) than I did in "Big Daddy" and "Mr. Deeds" combined. There's more of a chance I'll watch P.T. Anderson's surprising and original Sandler vehicle "Punch-Drunk Love" more than I will Sandler's big-money antics over the years, but that doesn't mean I'll shut myself off to his more-mischievous and outrageous "charms." Neither should you.

Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights

Adam Sandler has had a pretty good year I must say. He started it off with a nice summer comedy called, Mr. Deeds. I enjoyed the film, sure it wasn't the best, but it was good for what it was worth. Then came the brilliant Punch- Drunk Love. Where he gave a brilliant performance that could show he CAN act. But now comes piece of garbage that should ruin the man. At it is called 8 Crazy Nights. To start off, this film is rude, and crude. So don't excpect Miracle on 34th Street or whatever. This film is in a league of it's own. The films jokes are lame and too soon. It has all been done and said. Every character is just stupid, and miss placed. The only character I liked was the god damn Narrator. Voiced by Rob Schnider. I was but through torture, I couldn't stand any of it. Having Adam Sandler animated was plain stupid. It didn't work, along with the rest of the movie. Anyway I don't have much else to say but that this is a mean spirited mess, and real stinker.

PS- The Product Placement is just crying out too, man

Am I the only one that thinks Little Nicky is one of Sandler's better movies? I also think it stands up to repeat viewings MUCH better then most of his others - the gags just lose a lot of impact in most of them, but there are so many little things in Little Nicky you notice again/for the first time every viewing.

Sorry for getting off topic.

And I don't want that.

yes....that is definately what i feel. sometimes people are just too into movies...they get angry when someone likes/dislikes a movie...and thats bad.....everyone has a right to their opinion...just like you (not you bloodybitch, but you in general)

EIght Crazy Nights in my opinion is the worst comedy of the year. I hated it more then i hate brocoli and oh God i hate brocoli. I am a Adam Sandler fan but lately his movies ( besides Punch Drunk Love) were trash ( Mr. Deeds, Eight Crazy Nights)

But heck we all have our own opinon

Adam Sandler's 8 Crazy Nights was crude and rude. But it was also extremely funny, and extrememly touching. You heard me right. This movie featured extremely apealing animation, terrific quirky characters, great comedic voice performances, and awesome songs (so shoot me, I LOVED them). This is without a doubt one of Sandler's best comedies. I enjoyed this with all of my heart! It is a truly great, and underrated holiday movie. This will surely become an annual tradition for me!

(Rob Schnieder's Narration Was Also Very Good. I Loved It!)

Outrageously funny at times, I especially liked the some of the non-centered humor and obsure crazy details, like the 3 breasted woman . I thought whitey's voice was a crack up and also I admired his undefeatible optimism. I wasn't sure if the movie was trying to be serious at the end or part of a crazy send up, either way I enjoyed it.
