This movie looks awesome. It has a good plot and some wicked ass snowboard tricks and it should be good.

....it looks pretty good. I think the trailer promises some crazy stunts and a lame-o story with cardboard characters, but it might just be a good ol' action yarn.

Please inform the masses as to why the plot seems "good."
I'm serious. What is this movie about? Is this Out Cold II: The Secret of K2, or Hot Dog Forever, or is this a serious look at Xtreme sports and the Xtreme death-wish freaks that inhabit them?
I think this looks like it will be the best film of the year, a Best Picture nomination is all but guaranteed...

I think it looks like shit. You really couldn't pay me to see it...okay you could, but I'm not seeing it otherwise! :D

A film that will most likely add to the trash pile of bad movies for 2002. This movie looks terrible, and I believe it is a dead-on target for bad reviews.

When I first heard of the film I thought this could be cool...I like the two principal stars, Devon Sawa and Bridgette Wilson Sampras.......however I saw the trailer yesterday and it looks absolutely awful!
BUT.....I have a thing for cheesy flicks so I prolly will see it.....maybe at a matinee or on video. Seriously....it looks unintentionally hilarious!

Personally, I think it looks like crap. Another in the long line of big budget flops. But like XXX, no matter how crappy it looks, I'll probably end up seeing it if it plays in the theater next to me. But I feel sorry for Rufus Sewell. You can tell he's desperately trying to get into the mainstream, w/ roles in A Knight's Tale and this, so I may see it just to see him

This movie looks like extreme crap. The acting looks just horrendous, the snowboarding scenes look laughable and the plot looks just insanely awful. My favorite part during the preview:
For 6 of the most insane individuals in the world......
(In hot tub playing truth or dare) Girl: How bout you run around in the snow........NAKED
WOW now that's truely insane AND extreme.

What this film ever called "The eXtremists"? I remember reading about a snowboarding film starring Rufus Sewell and Devon Sawa a long time ago(4 months or so). Is this it, with a different title?

It looks craptastic and i'd rather put my penis in a blender and turn it on then watch this crap. i'll go for a fun action movie thank you not this crap.
and thats my two cents. it's crappy looking. really crappy looking.
It looks like an STV flick... I haven't seen the trailer but from the TV spots it looks bad and cheesy. Although on the plus side it does have Bridgette Wilson Sampras in it. I might see it on video sometime though...

This flick looks HORRIBLE.
Just another "Xtreme" movie to rake in the kid market, who love all things "Xtreme." I laughed when I saw the previews.
"Lets save the world... with Xtreme Sports!" Gag.

I believe it was Tom Samborki who stated "Extreme Ops: The Horror is Coming" and boy oh boy was he right.........Extreme Ops: The Horror is HERE!
I was just so damn lucky tonight to see a "sneak" preview of Paramount's Extreme Ops.
Potential Spoilers Ahead, But It Doesnt Really Matter Because This Movie SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Extreme Ops is the story of 6 of the craziest people in extreme sports who venture to Austria to film a commercial. It is there that they find a group of terrorists who will stop at nothing to kill them.
I would first like to state for the record that there is not one, not one single redeeming quality about this sorry excuse for a film.
The film is directed in such an amateurish/direct to video style that it is sickening. The film jumps all over the place with some cuts not going together correctly with others, hence leaving the film a jumbled looking mess.
The visual effects...oh the visual effects! Not a single visual effect in the film looks real. From aerial shots of the hotel at night, avalanches, ski lift voyages, helicopter crashes...hell...even one scene in which a character lands into a tree is fake. The tree looks as if it were bought at the Sears department store......Another thing that is funny about this film is that it mixes in real and sometimes old footage of scenes into the film. (Such as the train going through the tunnell, and some of the skiing in front of the avalanches). Speaking of avalanches, the snow in the film, espcially in scenes that include the actors is extremely fake looking and the individual flakes are huge and do not melt. Devon Sawa's character frequently gets them stuck in his nose.
The plot is non existent. The film for the first hour is simply a montage of skiing, snowboarding on both mountains and bar tables, and horrendous dialogue, generally of the "yeah", "its freezing" and "woohoo" variety. The last half hour of the film involves the ridiculous plot of the terrorists, chasing the extreme sportists down the mountain. They are after the dudes because one of them caught there supposedly dead leaders face on videocamera, so they must kill the dudes.....Haha......
The acting, or lack thereof is terrible. Devon Sawa (Who has gained alot of weight and grew facial hair to make him look "tough"), Bridgette Wilson Sampras (who is the girl who won a gold medal but cannot keep up with the extreme sportists because she is so used to being told what and how to do things), and the two other young sportists, stumble around the film like wooden objects. Rufus Sewwll as their director and leader hams up the screen in a bad way.
I found it hilarious that the supposed extreme sportists, were not that at all. Whoop de doo! They snowboard in bars, avalanches and trains, I do not really consider that extreme sports. The funny thing is that in most of the scenes, it is stunt doubles, but with close ups of the stars faces. What is even funnier is that for the two female characters, male doubles were used and it is plainly seen on screen.
To make matters worse, some of the dialogue was badly dubbed over to fit the characters lip movements.
The finale of the film was terribly rushed, we go from a supposed action scene to such a happy ending in the next.
Extreme Ops is the epitomy of a bad film. It is sad to see that a studio such as Paramount would market such a film while numerous good small films do not get the same amount of support.
Extreme Ops is easily one of the worst films I have ever seen, and certainly the worst of the year.
I urge you my fellow schmoes, DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE!
Luckily, it was free because from the trailers alone I knew it was going to suck ass and I wasn't planning on spending my money to see it.
When we left the theatre, the Paramount rep was waiting outside the door and she asked us what we thought of the film and I stated , "It was awful...pure crap"
Indeed my friends, Extreme Ops is one big lump of shit................AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS!
Extreme Ops gets a BIG FAT F from me!
Wow idealdiscountdude, you made it sound so bad that I actually kind of want to see it now. But the only way I would is if I saw it with friends to make fun of it. In fact, I would have them read your review before going so everyone knew what they were getting into. I would make it clear that our mission, should they choose to except it, would be to rip this piece of EXTREME SHIT to shreds...
Thanks for the GREAT review, it sounds like it would be a blast to make fun of. It sounds so hilarious that it might actually be possible to die of laughter during it...

Haha...thanks Mike!
I must say that I laughed for pretty much the entire film. Everything about the film was so awfully done that I was roaring over how pathetic the flick was.

You know, sometimes it can be more fun making fun of a movie (with at least one other person of course) than actually watching it. I saw SWIMFAN in theaters with my cousin and although the movie wasn't that horrible, it still had a lot of cheesy parts. So we spent pretty much the whole time laughing at it and it was a blast. I know if I would have seen it by myself I don't think I would have enjoyed it quite as much. I bet EXTREME OPS would be an easy movie to rip apart, and it would probably be a lot of fun. The only problem is that I don't want to spend money on it, you were lucky that you and your girlfriend were able to see it for free, that's the only way I'd see it... You know, before reading your review I actually thought it might be OK entertainment for video, but now after reading your review I have absolutely no hope for it. From the TV spots I saw it looked like a straight to video movie and I guess that's what it is, it may be on the big screen but it's a straight to video movie at heart ;).

This movie was not screened for critics, along with They. That is never a good sign and is probably the nail in the coffin that this film is an uber-stinker.

I actually have a thing for action related movies and bridgette wilson and B Movies in general,so really straight to video or bombed theatrically released films are my pick of the litter....so i must admit i have something for the film, not devon sawa with the worst attempt at looking like a rad boarder with an attitude of anarchy in the usa or something....but anyways,i actually will rent this flick...and hell if i get a crop of money, and saw they first,i might end up seeing this, but thats not gonna happen,i dont get money too much :(,so this is one of the many films im just waiting for to hit shelves at blockbuster....

Extreme Ops is an ok action, thrill ride with lots of cool stunts a nice easy story and not much else...and I did enjoy it to some extent. Rufus Sewell plays Ian a small time director who makes comercials for extreme sports clients with a band of extremists, hell bent on death defying stunts using canoes, snowboards, skis, parachutes etc. basically all the extreme sports you can think of involved in the X-Games...Him and his team that include daredevils Devon Sawa as Will and Joe Absolom as Silo, and rocking chic Kittie played by Jana Pallaske have been sent to the Austrian alps to film a commercial that involves skiing and out-running an avalanche, so along comes World Champion downhill skiier Chloe played by Bridgette Wilson-Sampras. They camp out at an unfinished ski-resort and go about their business while having a good time filmming their commercial, until they run into a Slavic general and war-criminal who is hiding out there after faking his own death. Naturally they have to use their special skills to elude the terrorists. The story is simple and the action generic but this film is all about cool stunts and getting great footage...and there are some cool scenes...like snow-skiing behind a train and so on...the characters are all pretty likeable and it was fun to watch them for the most part. Overall, Extreme Ops certainly isn't a great movie or even a good one...but just a fun, thrill ride of extreme sports with some cool stunts and a little action thrown in and not much else.

I had fun writing it! It's always great to see a completely awful movie and then rip it to shreads!

While it wasnt the worst way to spend 93 minutes,it wasnt the best,i will say its a tad better then what is been made out to be,but to many it still is considered awful,i enjoyed some of it,and indeed, with a friend is the way to go,we didnt make fun of it,we just joked around, sat back and watched some of the kickass stunts...the storyline was weak as were the characters but i wont say it was the worst film ever....

I loved this movie. It had lots of action towards the end and had some awesome stunts in it to. The actors were horrible but it was a good movie anyway. It wasn't the best movie ever but I am giving it credit for awesome things that are in this movie. 8/10
